Guelph man arrested after stealing two e-bikes
The Guelph Police Service has arrested a man after they said he tried to get away from them on a stolen e-bike Saturday.
Police said officers were patrolling the area of Paisley Road and Yorkshire Street North just before 7 p.m., when they saw a man riding an e-bike while holding another one. Two e-bikes had been reported stolen that afternoon from a home just outside of the downtown area.
Police said when officers tried to stop the man, he dropped one of the bikes and rode off on the other. Officers caught him after a short chase and arrested searching the man, police said they found bear spray, suspected crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.
A 33-year-old man from Guelph was charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing a prohibited weapon, two counts of possessing controlled substances and possessing a weapon contrary to an order.
