McDonald's announces exciting new McFlurry flavor… but only for a limited time

McDonald's has revealed an exciting new McFlurry flavor but fans will need to act fast. The fast food giant rolled out the Hershey's S'mores McFlurry nationwide on June 10, just in time for summer. The limited-edition dessert is made with McDonald's classic vanilla soft serve, blended with Hershey's milk chocolate, graham cracker crumbles, and marshmallow pieces. 'Whether you're looking to grab a sweet snack before lounging around the campfire or looking to satisfy your summer craving, the Hershey's S'mores McFlurry will be your go-to summer dessert,' the company added. But while it's already generating plenty of buzz, it won't be sticking around forever. McDonald's hasn't set an exact end date — so once it's gone, it's gone. 'I cannot wait to try it!!!' one fan wrote on Reddit in anticipation. 'I added fudge topping to it, its brings out the chocolate more!' another advised. However, others said they were left disappointed by the dehydrated marshmallows and new paper packaging that quickly became soggy. 'The paper cups are horrible though and so messy,' one consumer complained. 'It's like they went to Walmart to find the worst dried marshmallows from generic cereal,' another added. Last summer McDonald's delighted fans by reintroducing the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry for the summer. The frozen dessert was also made with vanilla soft-serve ice-cream but blended with bits of Kit Kat candy bars and 'real banana, strawberry clusters.' The Golden Arches also recently introduced a Birthday Cake McFlurry to celebrate the dessert's 30th anniversary. However, American fans were left furious when they realized it would be available in Canada but not in the US. 'I knew the second I saw this it wasn't in America,' an Instagram user wrote in disdain. The move is a nod towards the fact that the McFlurry was actually invented by Canadian franchisee Ron McLellan in 1995. Customers were furious to learn that Birthday Cake McFlurry is only available in Canada McDonald's is working to bounce back from recent sales dives Like the Birthday Cake McFlurry, the chain's new Creme-Egg McFlurry and Apple Shake are not available in the US. Canada also offers Skor and Smarties McFlurries at all McDonald's restaurants. While the McFlurry has grown to become a talked-about desert at the fast food empire, it hasn't diminished the anticipation over the return of snack wraps. McDonald's has been busy working on bouncing back from slumping sales, which includes a 3.6 percent drop in the first quarter of the year.

Bizarre spud ice cream invention by the 'Potato Queen' licks the rivals - and even wins Nigella over!

Potato ice cream topped with crispy bacon may not be everyone's idea of flavour of the month. But with summer holidays just around the corner, one Michelin trained chef is hoping her earthy take on Britain's favourite seaside treat will be a smash hit. Up and coming kitchen star Poppy O'Toole mashes oven baked Maris Pipers with condensed milk, whipped double cream and vanilla to make the unusual treat before topping it with crispy maple bacon strips and insisting: 'It works!' Showing a cone of creamy ice cream to her 5.5million Instagram followers, Poppy asks: 'Can you believe this ice cream is made from potatoes?' Poppy, 31, who was a recent guest on Saturday Kitchen Live, was asked to come up with a summer recipe after becoming brand ambassador for home delivery service Ocado. 'When they asked me to create a fun new summer recipe of course I had to combine my two favourite things together – potatoes and ice cream,' she said. Poppy, who calls herself 'The Potato Queen' because of her love for the vegetable, added: 'People might know me for my roasties, but now it's time for potato-based desserts to enter the chat. Sounds a bit wild, I know, but trust me, it works. I love showing how everyday ingredients can surprise you.' Poppy, of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, added: 'Maris Pipers give it that velvety, creamy texture while keeping the sweetness in check, and topped with a bit of maple bacon or potato sticks and you're in summery dessert heaven.' The unusual ice cream clearly impressed TV cook Nigella Lawson who commented 'Fabulous' followed by a potato and crown emoji. Savoury ice creams have gained popularity in recent years with goat's cheese and honey, stilton and pear, sweetcorn and black pepper among the more unusual offerings. An Ocado spokesman said Poppy's recipe showed unusual flavour combinations can create 'bold, surprising takes on everyday classics'. It added: 'It's fun, unexpected, easy to make and delicious.'
