Lluest Horse and Pony Trust marks 40th anniversary

The Lluest Horse and Pony Trust, based in Llandeusant, marked the milestone on Sunday, June 1, with a variety of activities. Founded in 1985 by Ginny Hajdukiewicz, the trust has been a sanctuary for horses and ponies in need. Ms Hajdukiewicz, who moved to the Black Mountains to start the organisation, was remembered fondly by attendees. Her dedication to the welfare of horses was unwavering, even at the expense of her own comfort. Ms Hajdukiewicz passed away from breast cancer in 1994, but her legacy lives on through the trust. The anniversary celebrations drew a large crowd, who enjoyed demonstrations, a vintage tea tent, craft stalls, a horse tack sale, and a fun dog show. Willow the Cocker Spaniel, owned by Carol Fleetwood, and Rosie the Beagle, owned by Martin Thomas, were awarded best in show and reserve respectively. Additionally, some successfully rehomed horses made a special return to Llandeusant for the event. The trust has announced a series of fundraising events planned throughout 2025. These include a Facebook auction of specially donated items, an anniversary calendar, and another open day on September 7.
