Orange City's RAGBRAI committee holds town hall meeting

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A town hall was held Wednesday night for the first overnight stop on this year's RAGBRAI route.
Orange City's RAGBRAI committee held the meeting at city hall. The publicity committee revealed the logo, which is three tulips with the theme 'Take Off from Tulip Town' above it. Additionally, the entertainment committee revealed the entertainment for the stop, including Above the Covers and 90s Rockshow.
Officials say it's been eight years since RAGBRAI had Orange City as an overnight stop.
'It means a lot. It's a great way for us to show our town off,' committee co-chair John Weber said. 'We're proud of our town, proud of our Dutch heritage. It's a way for us to show that to people from all 50 states and from around the world, quite frankly. So we're excited to show them our hospitality and our beautiful town.'

The Orange City Chamber of Commerce says they're making some changes to improve the experience for residents and riders from the last time they were an overnight stop.
'We heard from them that a lot of things went good, but there's a few things that we can make a little easier,' executive director Mike Hofman said. 'Just like, better communication with riders as they lead up to showing up in town, and then on the riders' side, just better communication about how to get around Orange City. You know, a lot has changed in the age of cell phones and digital atmosphere since 2017.'
The bike ride across Iowa starts on July 19 in Orange City and ends on July 26 in Guttenberg. There are two other overnight stops in northwest Iowa: Milford and Estherville.
