Why Magician David Blaine Fasts for Days Before His Shows
David Blaine has kept a straight face during his most dangerous stunts for decades, from encasing himself in a block of ice for 63 hours to holding his breath underwater for over 17 minutes. 'If a magician was able to do real magic, I don't think he'd be laughing and screaming,' he says of his onstage persona.
But this year, on National Geographic's 'David Blaine Do Not Attempt,' which premiered in March, Blaine shows a more personal side as he meets other thrill-seekers around the world. Each episode of the six-part documentary is set in a different country, where guests guide Blaine through a new set of stunts, from being set on fire to covering half his body in bees.
