Trey McBride glad that he and George Kittle are helping tight end contracts grow
In early April, Arizona's Trey McBride signed a four-year, $76 million contract that made him the first tight end in NFL history to sign a deal averaging $19 million a year. In late April, 49ers tight end George Kittle signed a contract that averaged $19.1 million a year — thanks to an inflated final year structured specifically to make Kittle's annual average look better than McBride's. For his part, McBride is just happy to see tight ends getting paid, regardless of whether he or Kittle has the title of highest paid tight end in the NFL. Advertisement 'I think it was great that I had the title at one point and that was obviously a huge milestone for me and everything just to be the highest paid at my position at the time, and I thought that was really cool,' McBride told 'Obviously, George is much deserving of that and I'm very excited for him.' McBride is hoping some tight end is making $20 million a year soon. 'I would love for someone to jump him and everyone just keep jumping each other and the tight ends make a ton of money," McBride said. "So that's what I'm pulling for but obviously very excited for George.' Future tight ends who might break the $20 million a year mark include Sam LaPorta of the Lions, who will be eligible for his second contract in 2026, and Brock Bower of the Raiders, who will be eligible for his second contract in 2027.

Travis Kelce suffers devastating reality check before NFL season
Despite his status as a superstar for the Kansas City Chiefs and his contributions to the tight end position, football experts believe that Travis Kelce may start to show signs of regression. The 35-year-old, who will turn 36 in October, briefly contemplated retirement before deciding to return for a 13th NFL season. But after a career-worst season in 2024, analysts believe that Kelce will not experience a sudden boost in production for 2025. For years, Kelce had been at or near the top of the annual position rankings list from Pro Football Focus. Last season, he was second behind San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle. But this season, PFF has put Kelce at a shocking seventh on their list of tight ends. Kittle retained his top spot on the list, but a combination of young stars and top veterans all moved ahead of Kelce. Kelce has been one of the top tight ends in the country in past seasons. But a dip in form and in production in 2024 led to PFF slotting him below younger and more up-and-coming players. Between Kittle and Kelce are, in order, Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders, Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals, Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens, Sam Laporta of the Detroit Lions, and TJ Hockenson of the Minnesota Vikings. 'While Kelce has been the second-most-valuable tight end over the past two seasons, per PFF WAR, 2024 represented the lowest-graded season of his career (71.7),' PFF analyst John Kosko explained. 'Age looks to be catching up to the future Hall of Famer,' he continued, concluding that 'his 91.4 PFF overall grade from 2022 appears to be a thing of the past.' Kelce has been dominant for over a decade - cementing himself as one of the greatest tight ends of all time in the process. However, he only hauled in 823 yards last season - his worst numbers since his rookie campaign. That said, both Andrews and Hockenson put up fewer yards than Kelce last season - which could make this ranking seem a bit harsh. Kelce has had a more 'low key' offseason than in years past, being seen out only sparingly as he looks to bounce back for what may be his last NFL campaign in 2025.

3 Tight Ends To Buy In Dynasty Fantasy Football
After breaking down this series of players to buy for running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks, it's only right to finish things off with tight ends. That said, let's break down which players you should buy in dynasty fantasy football. For this exercise, we'll be using a PPR format and basing the values off Keep Trade Cut. Starting off with the highest valued tight end on this list, T.J. Hockenson is a great value right now. Per KTC, in November 20th, 2023, Hockenson peaked as the TE1 in dynasty. Hockenson is still only 27 years old and he's attached to a great offense in the Minnesota Vikings. We've seen him put up multiple 12-plus PPG seasons and one 14.6 PPG season in 2023. In December of 2023, Hockenson suffered a torn ACL and MCL which tanked his dynasty value. With Hockenson having well over a full season to recover, he should be close to his former self in 2025. Assuming that's the case and J.J. McCarthy is a solid quarterback, you could be getting a tight end who's only 27 years old and is scoring 13-15 PPG. If Hockenson is able to get back to his former self, he'll easily be a top three dynasty tight end. David Njoku is one of the most mispriced tight ends in dynasty right now and I've seen him go even later than TE10. Njoku is 28 years old and while the Cleveland Browns offense is rough right now, he's set to be a free agent in 2026. Based on how the market reacts to new moves, if Njoku finds an appealing landing spot, his value will skyrocket. It seems like the Browns are going to let him walk as they drafted Harold Fannin Jr in the third round (67th overall pick) of the 2025 NFL Draft. Even in a bad offense, Njoku has been highly productive since 2023. Njoku had 12.6 PPG in 2023 and then was even better in 2024 with 13.5 PPG. With very little target competition, it's hard to see that production going down for 2025 and the future outlook for another team is very bright. As someone who was a massive Noah Fant fan, it puzzles me why people don't think Elijah Arroyo is the immediate TE1 for the Seattle Seahawks. Fant has been unable to produce and AJ Barner was a round four pick (121st overall). Arroyo has a clear advantage over both as he was the 50th overall pick (second round) in the NFL Draft. You can find my full breakdown on Arroyo here, which is backed by film and an in-depth breakdown. The quick breakdown, though, is that Arroyo is an elite athlete and could have been drafted even higher if he hadn't suffered injuries in college. On a team that only has Jaxon Smith-Njigba and a 31 year old Cooper Kupp, I'm expecting Arroyo to be productive right away. If that's the case and Arroyo can keep up this success, he's going to skyrocket past this TE22 ranking. Arroyo is one of my favorite buys in dynasty fantasy football.

Analyst Breaks Down Positives and Negatives With Bills TE Pick
The Buffalo Bills already have a quality duo of tight ends on their roster. Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox are two players who have starred in recent years for the team. So why in the world did the Bills choose to draft Jaxson Hawes at the same position in the later stages of the 2025 draft? Advertisement The answer is simple. What Kincaid and Knox have done as receivers is solid. They clearly lack the strength and ability to be strong run-blocking players, though. Hawes doesn't have that issue. He was drafted by the Bills for that exact role at this point. And while his receiver skills aren't elite, he was the best run-blocking tight end of the 2025 draft. And that made him a commodity for the Bills. 'As a receiver, his profile is severely lacking. He never had more than 200 receiving yards in any of his four years," PFF wrote. "His catch percentages are also lower than ideal, including in contested situations, but they were highest in 2024. He also lacks general coordination and natural feel to be a receiver (which does make sense given that he was a linebacker in high school). Advertisement "He knows what he is on the field for (blocking) and takes a ton of pride in it, consistently blocking his assignments through the whistle.' Buffalo wants to continue to run the ball well, and having a tight end who can block is extremely important. If the Bills are able to play all three tight ends at the same time, it could give the team a new and improved wrinkle to their offense.
