BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Governor Jeff Landry has signed several tort reform bills into law, and Louisiana First News spoke with one lawmaker about his report criticizing the state's handling of the pandemic.

A big step forward was taken Wednesday at the Governor's Mansion in the effort to lower the cost of car insurance in Louisiana. The governor signed six bills into law, a move he claims will help solve the problem.
A report by the Federal Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board revealed that a series of incidents at a Geismar plant were preventable. Officials said the Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies facility failed to maintain its equipment or establish proper safety measures. The report also found a lack of communication among the plant workers.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said COVID-19 vaccines are no longer recommended for healthy children and pregnant women. This contrasts with guidance from health officials, who continue to urge everyone six months and older to get the vaccine each year. A CDC advisory panel is set to meet this month to discuss future vaccination recommendations.
