Driver crashes into sign, tree in deadly Marion County accident
Florida Highway Patrol officers responded to a fatal accident in Marion County after a driver crashed into a tree for reasons that remain unclear. The 51-year-old woman was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The crash location can be seen on the map below. According to troopers, the woman driver was approaching the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 42, but for unknown reasons, she failed to stop and drove north through the intersection instead. El Paso police investigate fatal crash, Dyer Street shooting
A deadly traffic crash, a shooting and a stabbing were keeping El Paso police busy over the weekend. One person died in a single-vehicle collision that occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday, June 1, in the area of Loop 375 and Spur 601, Sgt. Robert Gomez, a police spokesman, said in a message. The crash in under investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit. Further details, including the name of the person who died, had yet to be disclosed. A two-block long crime scene had Dyer Street closed as police investigated an overnight shooting near bars in the Lower Dyer section of Central El Paso. The shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 4800 block of Dyer Street, a block that includes Big Mike's Place, Chit Chat bar and Luckyz Bar & Lounge, a police spokesperson said in a message. One person was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso in undisclosed condition. Detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit were investigating a stabbing that sent one person to the hospital on Saturday morning, May 30, in a Northeast neighborhood. One airlifted in I-57 rollover crash in Shelby Co.
SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — One person was airlifted to a local hospital following a single vehicle crash north of Effingham on Interstate 57 Saturday morning. At approximately 8:06 a.m., Illinois State Police Troop 7 responded to I-57 southbound milepost 172 in Shelby County for the report of a single unit rollover traffic crash. As a result of the rollover, one person was airlifted to a local hospital with injuries. Former Clark Co. student arrested in Indiana after bomb threat of former school At approximately 8:28 a.m., all southbound lanes were closed at this location for air evac. At approximately 8:58 a.m., both State Police Troop 7 and Troop 9 were still on scene, and at 9:01 a.m., all lanes re-opened. A car runs a red light and kills 3 people in Taiwan, including two 12-year-old girls
A car plowed through pedestrians at an intersection in Taiwan, killing three people including two 12-year-old girls, according to media reports. The 78-year-old driver was in a coma after the Monday afternoon crash. Police said the driver went through the intersection when the traffic lights were red in all directions, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported. The car sideswiped three scooters and a bicycle and kept going until running into a concrete divider in the middle of a street. The accident happened in New Taipei, the sprawling area in northern Taiwan that surrounds Taipei, the capital. Video posted online by the Central News Agency shows debris strewn in the intersection and people giving CPR to two victims, one behind a red scooter lying on its side. A 40-year-old woman died along with the two students from a nearby junior high school. Twelve other people were injured. They included seven students from the same school and a 5-year-old boy, who was slightly injured, according to statements from the New Taipei government and fire department. Five people were seriously injured, including the driver. He tested negative for alcohol consumption, the Central News Agency said, citing police. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Fatal pedestrian crash in Hampton leaves one dead, driver flees scene
HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died following a fatal pedestrian crash in Hampton on Sunday night, according to police. Hampton Public Safety Communications received a call for a pedestrian accident in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard at approximately 10:50 p.m. Hampton Police and Hampton Fire and Rescue crews arrived and discovered a man lying in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of West Mercury Boulevard at the intersection of North Armistead Avenue when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after striking the victim. There is a designated crosswalk at the location the man attempted to cross. The crash is under investigation.
