Pattullo Bridge reopens to traffic ahead of schedule
The Pattullo Bridge connecting New Westminster and Surrey has reopened in both directions.
Construction work planned to take place over the Victoria Day long weekend has finished earlier than scheduled, according to a TransLink statement issued Sunday evening.
The bridge closed Friday evening at 9 p.m. and was initially planned to reopen Tuesday at 5 a.m. It has remained open for pedestrians and cyclists.
'The work that's being done is part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project and is required to safely install drainage and complete foundations for the approaches to the new replacement bridge in New Westminster and Surrey,' the statement said.
'Excavation will take place over the weekend, blocking access to the bridge.'
