Nigel Farage is extending his bid to win over traditional Labour voters by announcing that his party would scrap a controversial limit on child benefits and fully reinstate utility-bill subsidies for the elderly if it came into power. The Reform UK leader is set to hold a press conference Tuesday morning during which he will claim the policies would be funded by abandoning net-zero emissions pledges, getting rid of accommodation for asylum seekers and shaving expenditures on quasi-government agencies — known as quangos — by 5%.

Japan Allots $2.7 Billion From Reserves to Ease US Tariff Hit
Japan's government approved a plan to draw ¥388 billion ($2.7 billion) from reserve funds to support businesses and households impacted by US tariffs, in an emergency measure aimed at easing the domestic repercussions of President Donald Trump's sweeping trade campaign. The cabinet on Tuesday approved the outlay for the economic package, which includes ¥288 billion in utility bill subsidies and ¥100 billion to help regional businesses ride out rising costs, according to a government document laying out the plan.
