Emmerdale signs major rival soap star for huge new villain role – and it's bad news for Moira Dingle

SOAP SHOCK The actress has had a long and distinguished career but will now play a soap villain EMMERDALE has signed up a star of a rival soap for an explosive new storyline - and it'll be bad news for Moira Dingle. The ITV soap has snapped up esteemed actress Jaye Griffiths who has had major roles in Casualty, The Bill, Silent Witness and Doctors. 2 2 And she's going to be playing a new villainous character who could prove problematic for farmer Moira Dingle. Viewers know Moira is in serious trouble and facing massive fines for her farm contaminating the water supply. And while it was John Sugden who framed Mackenzie Boyd for the crime, Moira's facing losing her beloved farm. So when a neighbouring farmer makes herself known, Moira's facing a huge crisis. Newcomer Ceilia calls to enquire if she can rent two of her fields, Moira is quick to shrug her off, but she clearly means business. Celia's reputation precedes her as Moira isn't keen to deal with this woman, despite bad finances on her own farm. And soon when poor vet Paddy is brutally attacked and hospitalised by one of Celia's guard dogs we start to get the measure of her true colours from her reaction to the attack. Producer Laura Shaw explains: 'We are absolutely delighted to have Jaye Griffiths joining us to play the role of Celia. 'Having recently taken over a nearby farm, not much is known about mysterious Celia's past before arriving on the outskirts of the village. 'While Celia has a tough edge with an air of respectability, the audience, and our villagers, will soon start to see what this woman is truly capable of.' Jaye explains: 'I was delighted to get this role - without giving the game away she is very different to anyone I have played before and I can't wait to really get into the heart of her storyline.' Celia is renting a neighbouring farm in Emmerdale from Kim Tate, but with the Bartons and Sugdens as farming families already well established within the community there is definitely conflict on its way. Jaye is known for her previous roles in The Bill, Casualty and Doctors.

Shipley hero-turned-villain jailed for punching man's face

A hero-turned-villain has been jailed for 18 months after he punched a man outside a pub, causing multiple fractures to his Crown Court was told that Mark Harrison's victim suffered seven fractures to his face, nose and jaw after he was attacked while he was standing at the top of three steps outside the Sun Hotel in Shipley in December punch thrown by Harrison, who had talked a suicidal man down from height the previous year, caused him to fall and strike his head on the Andrew Haslam KC said the victim "bled heavily and was rendered unconscious" as a result. CCTV footage of the incident showed members of the public assisting the complainant by putting him in the recovery position before an ambulance 41, left the scene but when he was arrested by police two days later he asked officers how the man court heard that Harrison, of Leeds Road, Shipley, had received a senior police officer's commendation following an incident in 2022 when he had talked a suicidal man away from the ledge of a tall building before the emergency services arrived. Prosecutor Victoria Barker told the court how the complainant, who was unknown to Harrison, had been told to leave the pub by staff and while they were dealing with him the defendant intervened and confronted tried to calm things down, but Harrison continued to be hostile and staff told both of them to complainant left first and while he was standing on the top step waiting for a taxi, drunken Harrison came out and punched him in the a victim personal statement provided in June last year the complainant described how he was suffering from "constant buzzing" in his ears and struggling to said his speech had been affected and not a day went by when he did not think about the assault and why it happened to complainant said he did not leave the house for several weeks because of his facial injuries. 'Major slip-up' Harrison, who had two previous convictions for assault dating back more than 20 years, pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful wounding at an earlier court Wootten, mitigating for Harrison, said his client had been drinking heavily "as a coping mechanism" following the death of his father and other family trauma."Clearly this offence occurred largely because he was so drunk and he's clear that he never would have done what he did were he not intoxicated," said Mr said his client "audibly gasped" when he was first shown the CCTV of the punch and its effects and he said Harrison was Wootten submitted that the offence had been "a major slip-up" in a long period of good, and at times exemplary, Haslam said it was an aggravating feature of the case that Harrison was under the influence of excessive alcohol at the time and he concluded that the serious nature of injuries meant the 18-month prison sentence had to be served immediately. ‘Andor' Season 2, Episodes 7-9: Deaths and Births

'Andor' Season 2, Episodes 7-9 Before we begin, let us raise a glass to Syril Karn, a wonderfully weird villain, who meets his end in this week's rough and rowdy set of 'Andor' episodes. What is there to say about Syril? Do we celebrate the demise of this officious little man, who craved power and hounded our hero, Cassian Andor? Or is he a tragic figure, pushed around by the two women in his life and used as a pawn in the Empire's violent takedown of the planet Ghorman? To be clear, there is no shame in being a pawn. This is one of the main themes of 'Andor': Pawns have value to the cause. Even the evil ones. Ghorman's fall is at the center of these three episodes, which are just as much about how the main characters react to events that are so shocking — and happen so fast — that they aren't sure how to interpret them. Is what just happened good? Bad? Bad for now but good in the long run? The uncertainty of the moment is what makes these episodes so exciting and their outcome so consequential. The fog of doubt envelops Syril and ultimately kills him. The frenzy propels Cassian — though he remains wary of where it is sending him.
