Caleb Durbin smacks walk-off homer in Brewers win over Padres
June 8 - Caleb Durbin hit the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off homer to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 victory over the visiting San Diego Padres on Saturday night. The Padres erased a 3-1 deficit with two runs in the top of the ninth off closer Trevor Megill (1-2) who had converted 12 of 13 save chances, including 11 straight. Elias Diaz singled with one out, but was forced at second when Tyler Wade reached on a fielder's choice. Xander Bogaerts walked, and Wade and Bogaerts executed a double steal. Luis Arraez followed with a two-run double down the left-field line. David Morgan (0-1) relieved for the Padres to open the ninth and Durbin sent the first pitch 386 feet to left center for his second homer. Milwaukee went in front 3-1 with two runs in the eighth off Jason Adam. With one out, Christian Yelich drew his third walk of the game. William Contreras dribbled an infield single to third. Sal Frelick then reached on catcher's interference to load the bases. Rhys Hoskins delivered a sacrifice fly to left to make it 2-1. Isaac Collins followed with a bloop RBI single to left. The Brewers tied it 1-all with an unearned run in the seventh off Jeremiah Estrada, who relieved to open the inning. Collins singled with one out. Caleb Durbin beat out an infield singled on a chopper behind second, with Collins continuing to third on a throwing error by second baseman Jose Iglesias. Collins scored on Jake Bauers' sacrifice fly to center. The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the fourth off starter Jose Quintana when Jackson Merrill singled to open and Iglesias drew a one-out walk. Elias Diaz's two-out single to left scored Merrill. Milwaukee threatened in the sixth when Yelich walked with two out and Contreras singled, chasing starter Stephen Kolek. Adrian Morejon relieved and got Frelick on a dribbler that appeared to bounce behind home, but then trickled back fair onto home plate for an easy groundout. --Field Level Media

Tatis hits a 2-run walk-off homer to give Padres a 6-4 win over the Angels
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run 430-foot walk-off homer to centerfield to give the San Diego Padres a comeback 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night. Tatis dropped the bat emphatically and watched the ball fly after he connected on a cutter against Angels closer Kenley Jansen (0-2), who took the loss. Padres reliever Jason Adam (4-0) earned the win with a scoreless ninth. Matthew Lugo hit a pinch-hit two-run homer in the seventh to give the Angels a 4-2 lead. Lugo's homer followed an RBI double in the seventh by Jo Adell, igniting a three-run rally after the Angels had two outs and no baserunners. Angels starter José Soriano gave up two unearned runs and four hits in seven innings. Padres starter Dylan Cease pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs and five hits while striking out 10. The Padres ended their two-game losing streak and finally beat the Angels, who had won their past four games over San Diego dating back to last season. Key moment With the game tied 4-4 in the ninth, Elias Díaz earned a full count walk to lead off the inning against Jansen. Tatis followed with his walk-off homer. Key stat The Padres hot-hitting Jackson Merrill came into the game with six straight multihit games and hits in 14 of his last 15 games. Merrill was 0 for 4 Tuesday, including two deep flyouts to the wall. Tatis has hit safety in 23 of his last 26 games. Up next The Angels' RHP Randy Vásquez (2-3, 3.76 ERA) starts Wednesday night in the finale of the three-game series. RHP Kyle Hendricks (1-4, 5.30) will be on the mound for the Padres.
