Tornado touchdowns reported in Dodge, Wabasha counties
Jun. 25—ROCHESTER — The National Weather Service placed Kasson, Byron and Dodge Center in a tornado warning through 5:45 p.m. Wednesday as well as a tornado warning through 6:30 p.m. for Hokah and Brownsville.
According to weather scanner traffic with the NWS in La Crosse, Wisconsin, a tornado touchdown was reported on 680th Street, which is south of U.S. Highway 14, in Dodge County. The tornado was reported to be moving northwest of the area.
There have also been reports of tornado rotations near Spring Valley and Ostrander. North of Dodge Center a funnel cloud was reported by weather spotters.
"A tornado and severe gust risk will continue with ongoing storms. The best chance for tornadoes will exist with low-topped supercells traversing a diffuse baroclinic boundary," the National Weather Service said.
According to the NWS storm prediction center, a spotter reported a tornado touchdown near Wabasha County Road 17 and Highway 65 in the Zumbro Falls area. A tornado touchdown was also reported south of Lake City.
The NWS also issued a special weather statement through 6:45 p.m. for Rochester, Byron and Plainview for a strong thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
Olmsted, Fillmore, Houston, Mower, Dodge, Wabasha, Winona and Goodhue counties are also in a tornado watch through 10 p.m. Wednesday. The area is also under a flood watch through 7 a.m. Thursday.
