I've found the best wide leg trousers for summer and they're only £15.99 - they're so good I'm tempted to buy them in every colour
Gone are the days where I'm happy to squeeze myself into tight pencil skirts in the summer, or worry about constantly shaving and fake tanning my legs for shorts. When warm weather hits now, what I'm after is a pair of comfy, flattering, lightweight trousers; the type that hit the summer brief while requiring very little effort on my part. And happily I have found them.
Enter, H&M's wide pull-on trousers, which the retailer brings back every year because they are simply brilliant.
I first bought a pair of these trousers last spring, when I was on maternity leave and needed practical clothes that didn't make me feel like I'd lost my sense of style along with my sleep and hairline. I chose a pair with black and white stripes, and was immediately impressed by them.
Firstly, they don't really need ironing, which is an absolute winner when you're ridiculously busy. Secondly, the loose-leg shape is very flattering, cinching in at the waist and then falling to the floor in a way that disguised everything else that was going on for me post-pregnancy. Finally, there's the airy viscose fabric they are made from, which keeps you cool in hotter weather but not freezing when the sun goes behind a cloud. The reviews on the H&M website are overwhelmingly positive, so I'm clearly not alone in my love of these trousers.

I recommended sizing up, because I prefer a looser fit (and the adjustable waist means you can belt them in appropriately around the waist). Then, you can style them with just about anything you want – I've worn mine with crew-neck T-shirts and sandals for summer days, or a fine-knit jumper and loafers in the office. They work well as spring and autumn trousers too; just add trainers and a denim jacket to make them a bit cosier. As for holidays, I've got few items in my wardrobe that will roll down as small as these do to be stuffed into hand luggage for a trip away.
The best thing about these trousers, apart from that they look great, is the price – just £15.99 (and £11.99 for H&M members). In fact I am tempted to get them in another colour too – there are 11 shades and patterns to choose from, including wear-with-everything khaki and a showstopping leopard print pair.
