NHLer Brett Howden's text message can't be used as evidence at trial of ex-world junior players, judge rules
The Latest The sexual assault trial of five former Hockey Canada world junior players continues in Ontario Superior Court in London, Ont., today. This morning, Justice Maria Carroccia ruled a 2018 text exchange between ex-teammates of the accused cannot be admitted as evidence in the trial. The texts in question were sent by Brett Howden, now a centre for the Vegas Golden Knights. Howden has been testifying as a Crown witness this week. The accused — Cal Foote, Dillon Dubé, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart and Michael McLeod — have all pleaded not guilty to the alleged sexual assaults involving the complainant, E.M., at a hotel in June 2018.
