This road was voted the worst road in Ottawa
Carling Avenue is once again the worst road in Ottawa, but it doesn't rank as one of the worst roads in Ontario, according to the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA).
The CAA released its annual Ontario's Worst Roads lists on Thursday, based on nominations from drivers across Ontario. The CAA says over 2,400 different roads from 208 municipalities were nominated across Ontario this year.
No Ottawa road ranked in the top 10 worst roads across Ontario. Aberdeen Avenue in Hamilton was ranked as the worst road in the province, followed by Barton Street East in Hamilton and County Road 49 in Prince Edward County.
Leveque Road in South Frontenac, north of Kingston, ranked sixth on the list of top 10 worst roads in Ontario.
According to CAA, Carling Avenue was ranked as the worst road in Ottawa for the 20th straight year. In 2023, Carling Avenue ranked as the fourth worst road in Ontario.
Richmond Road was voted the second worst road in Ottawa, followed by Bronson Avenue, Merivale Road and Hunt Club Road.
'Timely repairs, better communication, quick fixes, pothole funds, and using recycled aggregates are just some solutions to fix unsafe roads,' Teresa Di Felice, assistant vice president of government and community relations with CAA South Central Ontario,' said in a statement.
'CAA continues to urge all levels of government to prioritize road safety with stable funding to do so.'
Municipalities are responsible for approximately 140,000 kilometres of roads across Ontario.
