MSPiB to Celebrate Portsmouth March 13
PORTSMOUTH — Main Street Portsmouth in Bloom is ready to celebrate another year of growth and volunteerism at the annual Celebrate Portsmouth fundraising dinner.
'This evening is all about Portsmouth,' Executive Director Emily Uldrich said. 'So, we are going to look back to the year and see what Portsmouth has accomplished as a community, at what our volunteers were able to accomplish through our organization. We're going to be giving out our Annual Ellen Vetter Memorial Service Award. We will also have a full array of activities and entertainment.'
When asked what topics will be celebrated and recognized, Uldrich said there is a lot to consider. While some guaranteed topics will be covered, such as volunteerism, the group had a plethora of accomplishments in 2024 to highlight, including the expansion of 535 on Second and growth at the farmers market. Volunteerism is one topic Uldrich is excited about highlighting, however.
'Celebrate Portsmouth is really the anchor and keystone of Main Street events each year,' Uldrich claimed. 'It is especially important, because it's when we take time to recognize outstanding volunteers from the previous year with our annual Ellen Vetter Memorial Service Award. We will review our accomplishments we were able to accomplish because of these volunteers, we will have a nice social hour at 6 p.m., a keynote speaker on the topic of community building in Portsmouth and the region; it will be a good time for everyone.'
The event is scheduled for the same night as another popular annual event, but Uldrich says the timing works to give people two great opportunities in one night.
'I do want to emphasize our dinner will be at 7 p.m., because, the way the event schedule fell, it is the same night as Business After Hours at the Pub, which we know is very popular,' Uldrich said. 'The timing should work out great, because people can make Business After Hours and still have time to have dinner and celebrate with us.'
Celebrate Portsmouth will be held March 13, at 6 p.m. in the Shawnee State University Ballroom. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The organization is currently selling table sponsorships for $635 until February 16. A table seats eight.
