Yemeni activist tortured to death in Houthi prison
ALBAWABA - A Yemeni activist who was kidnapped by the Houthi militia several years ago recently died in a prison based in Sanaa, sparking widespread concern and outrage across the country, as reported by Erem News.
His family received a phone call, which revealed that the activist had died. However, the caller didn't disclose the cause of death or the circumstances.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms released a statement that read, "The terrorist Houthi militia kidnapped Masoud Al-Dhahyani years ago from his home in the village of Ramah in the Maris district, north of Al-Dhale' Governorate, central Yemen, and took him to an unknown location. His family later confirmed his presence in one of the militia's prisons in Sana'a, after months of enforced disappearance."

While reports indicate that the individual died under mysterious circumstances, the organization said that Masoud Al-Dhahyani was kidnapped from his village and that during his time in prison, he was subjected to various forms of physical and psychological torture.
Additionally, the human rights organization claimed that Al-Dhahyani was denied basic medical treatment during his abduction.
Al-Dhahyani's death raises awareness of similar cases of death, kidnapping, and imprisonment involving hundreds of others before him at the hands of the Houthi militia.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms also reported that approximately 394 abductees, who included children, women, and the elderly, were subjected to physical torture, as others committed suicide to escape the brutality. Moreover, several others succumbed to death after suffering from a heart attack due to the conditions.
