Sydney man arrested for seizing family's travel documents and abandoning them abroad

SBS Urdu 17/06/2025 05:24 A man from the southwestern suburbs of Sydney, who allegedly left his wife and one-year-old child in Pakistan without travel documents, was presented in a local court on June 11, 2025, on human smuggling charges. Exit trafficking involves situations where a person is sent abroad with the belief that they will return to Australia, but the offender deliberately plans to make their return impossible. A 45-year-old man is accused of deceiving his wife and child into travelling to Pakistan in August 2024. Upon arrival, he allegedly took the child's passport and abandoned his wife and child at the airport. He returned to Australia alone later that same month. SBS Urdu 13/05/2020 11:32 The wife somehow managed to return to Australia in February 2025 and filed a complaint with the AFP. AFP investigators, working with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), facilitated the child's return. The child was born in Australia and is an Australian citizen.
