Whoopi Goldberg compares US to Iran in fiery clash with Alyssa Farah Griffin; ‘They just keep hanging Black people'
The View descended into turmoil when Whoopi Goldberg and Alyssa Farah Griffin argued about the Israel-Iran conflict. Sara Haines stated that she will not protect Iran, which she termed as a 'terrorist nation that has been funding people killing people for decades,' after Sunny Hostin charged Israel of violating diplomatic law by carrying out airstrikes against Iran's nuclear installations last week. 'They've never followed the rules,' Haines stated. Goldberg became enraged when Griffin expressed her opinion that 'Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings' and 'don't adhere to basic human rights.' 'Let's not do that because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. They used to just keep hanging Black people,' miffed Goldberg hit back. In response, Griffin apologised, saying: 'I'm sorry but where the Iranian regime is today in 2025 is nothing compared to the United States.' In an attempt to correct Griffin, Goldberg stated that the two circumstances 'are the same.' But Griffin remained steadfast in her conviction, saying that 'The year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if I step foot wearing this outfit in Iran right now. I can't have my hair showing, I can't wear a skirt, I can't have my arms out.' Also Read: Alleged Tyler Perry-Derek Dixon private chats leak sparks online uproar; 'If you let the cast know that…' Griffin went on to mention that residing in the US in 2025 is 'very different' than living in Iran. Goldberg, however, interjected, 'Not if you're Black.' Despite acknowledging that America has 'very real problems,' Griffin asserted it's 'important' to keep in mind that 'there are places much darker than this country.' 'I think you know that Iran is significantly worse than our country,' she told the panel. Meanwhile, the panel was at odds with 77-year-old Arnlod Schwarzenegger, who arrived on the show to promote the second season of his Netflix action-comedy series FUBAR, when he said that immigrants in the US should 'behave like a guest.' Whoopi Goldberg, co-host, swiftly retorted that 90 percent of the people who entered the US are attempting to do the right thing, adding that individuals, who shouldn't be taken out of the country, are being pushed out. 'People who have visas, people who have all those things. So, we want all the right people. We don't want people who are doing bad stuff.'

Create Account W hen asked by The View co-host Joy Behar what he thought of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids happening in California d uring an appearance on the daytime talk show this week, the former California governor said that newcomers have a responsibility to 'keep things clean.' 'I just think the world of the great history that we have with immigrants in America, but the key thing also is at the same time, we've got to do things legal,' the father of five said. 'That is the most important thing. You've got to do things legal, and those people that are doing illegal things in America, and they're the foreigners, they are not smart … when you come to America, you're a guest, and you have to behave like a guest, like when I go to someone's house, and I'm a guest, then I will do everything I can, keep things clean and to make my bed and to do everything that is the right thing to do rather than committing a crime, or being abusive or something like that, so that doesn't really work in this country.' The Terminator star, who immigrated to the U.S. in 1968 and became a U.S. citizen in 1983, said that newcomers ' use America for the great opportunities,' but added that they need to contribute back to the country's success. 'You have a responsibility as an immigrant to give back to America and to pay back to America and go and do something for your community for no money whatsoever. Give something back to after-school programs, Special Olympics, or whatever it is, make this a better place,' he said. Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. Arnold Schwarzenegger: "Democrats and Republicans have to come together and solve [immigration reform] if they really want to be public servants. If they want to be party servants ... it won't happen." — The View (@TheView) June 17, 2025 As anti-ICE demonstrators took to the streets in parts of Los Angeles to protest mass arrests and deportations, Schwarzenegger also weighed in on President Donald Trump's suggestion that California Governor Gavin Newsom should be arrested. 'Democrats and Republicans have to come together and solve this issue (of immigration reform) if they really want to be public servants. If they want to be party servants, and be party hacks and be tied to their ideology, then it won't happen,' he said. 'For decades now, this country has needed immigration reform, which means we recognize the fact there's people in the south of America that want to come north to work, and we should supply them with enough visas to come because we need those workers,' he said. 'Then we'd know who is here, we'd be able to get rid of the criminal elements that are here, all this stuff so we wouldn't be in the mess we're in right now.' This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. View co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin pushed back on some of Schwarzenegger's observations. 'Arnold, don't forget 90% of the people who come here are trying to do the right thing,' Goldberg said, while Hostin added that immigrants are 'less likely to commit crimes in this country than actually American-born citizens.' Trump has ordered ICE officers to target at least 3,000 illegals a day, up from about 650 daily during the first months of the president's second term. The president later claimed that if he didn't activate the National Guard in Los Angeles, 'the place would be burned down to the ground right now.' 'I did incompetent Governor Gavin Newscum, who doesn't have a clue, the favor of a lifetime. One of the WORST GOVERNORS IN HISTORY!' Trump shared in a Truth Social post. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. In another fiery social media post, Trump accused Democrats in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York of using illegal immigrants to steal elections. 'We must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside. These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State, robbing good paying Jobs and Benefits from Hardworking American Citizens,' he wrote. Schwarzenegger and Trump have long been at odds with one another. But back in 2023, Schwarzenegger warned that Democrats 'want to f— up every city in America' as he issued a stark warning about his adopted country's future. During a chat with Rob Lowe on an episode of SiriusXM's Literally! With Rob Lowe show, Schwarzenegger was asked what it meant to be a Democrat. 'Ruin your cities,' he replied. 'That's what the Democrats would say. We are about ruining the cities. We want to f— up every city in America. That seems to be the theme right now.' mdaniell@ Read More

Netflix fans beg for 'brilliant' series to be saved – despite admitting it's bad
Netflix's hit action-comedy series FUBAR has seen a plunge in viewership for its second season, leaving many fans worried the show could be cancelled. The show, which dropped eight new episodes last week, follows a father-and-daughter duo, Luke and Emma Brunner, portrayed by The Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro. When they discover they both secretly work for the CIA 'their high-stakes missions get tangled up with awkward family dynamics.' After the first season proved a smash success for the streamer in 2023 — topping the streaming charts and securing 25.57 million viewing hours in its first week — the second season seemed a sure bet. However, the viewership numbers say otherwise. The second season only generated 2.2 million views over its opening weekend, marking an 80 percent drop-off from the first season's 11m, Deadline reports. The second season had been hotly anticipated by fans of the show, but those same fans have now been left fearful the show is on the chopping block – even as many admit it was a less-than-stellar return. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video @firdaus_sheik took to X to describe the season as a 'tough watch' while @SaidWhatWeSaid wrote: 'Season 2 of FUBAR was full of action and found family but felt underwhelming in prioritising messy love triangles over character growth.' Meanwhile @rbaccari9 feared the show would get cancelled 'before it gets a deserved final season', writing: '[Netflix] keep increasing prices and refusing to give shows that people love a last season. I am going to FINALLY cancel Netflix if Fubar doesn't get a 3rd season.' The reaction from viewers to the season has been a mixed affair online, with many saying it doesn't quite live up to the first installment. Pan N wrote their review on Rotten Tomatoes, savagely sharing: 'The first season wasn't this bad. The acting is horrible, the direction is awful, the story is ridiculous and the dialogue dreadful. The premise is stupid and then it went downhill from there. There were times I literally cringed.' Ouch. Other viewers had a more measured take, with Depechemark writing the second season was: 'Not bad but also not good. Some of the cast is okay, some of the cast is terrible. Really no chemistry between anyone. Arnold is funny with his lines of course, and there's a few funny lines here and there.' However it's not to say all the reaction was negative, with many Netflix subscribers taking to X to praise the second season. @itswallsworld said the 'quirky but brilliant' CIA team headed up by Schwarzenegger brought 'terrific fun'. @Kilts4me echoed: 'Just finished Fubar S2 This show is just great. A bit slap stick, but clever and just fun. Stand out performances from absolutely every cast member, my fav from Andy Buckley he was hilarious. Hope of hopes there's a S3. Schwarzenegger more please!' The second season sees the return of Travis Van Winkle as Aldon, Fortune Feimster as Roo, Milan Carter as Barry and Scott Thompson as Dr. Pfeffer, among other familiar faces. More Trending Speaking about what to expect from the new season, creator Nick Santora called it 'bananas' and the Brunner family will have 'a million things they're going to have to deal with.' 'They are family, and they know the only way they are going to survive is as a family working together. And they're going to have to do so if they don't want the world to end as we know it!' Santora added. A version of this article was first published on June 12. View More » Fubar seasons one and two are available to stream on Netflix now. Got a story? Former California Guv Arnold Schwarzenegger, an immigrant himself, wants newcomers to 'behave like a guest' in US
Arnold Schwarzenegger stirred controversy during a recent appearance on The View, where he told immigrants to 'behave like a guest' in America. The comment, made while promoting Season 2 of his Netflix series FUBAR, quickly went viral and drew mixed reactions from the show's hosts and viewers. The Austrian-born actor and former California governor reflected on his own immigration journey, calling it 'beautiful' and emphasizing the value of legal immigration. 'When you come to America, you're a guest,' he said. 'And you have to behave like a guest.' Los Angeles and several other cities in the United States saw huge anti-Trump protests recently following raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Violence flared up after the agency arrested few indiviuals. Later Trump sent National Guards as well as Marines to help ICE conduct more raids. — TheView (@TheView) Meanwhile while talking to The View, Schwarzenegger likened immigrants to houseguests who should 'keep things clean' and 'make their bed.' He encouraged newcomers to contribute to their communities through volunteer work—even if unpaid—underscoring a sense of civic responsibility. Live Events The comments sparked immediate pushback. Whoopi Goldberg reminded Schwarzenegger that '90 percent of the people who come here are trying to do the right thing,' while Sunny Hostin highlighted that immigrants are statistically less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born citizens. — VigilantFox (@VigilantFox) Pressed about how he would handle California's immigration protests and ongoing challenges, Schwarzenegger urged collaboration among local, state, and federal authorities. He also criticized both political parties for failing to pass meaningful immigration reform, calling politicians from both sides 'party hacks.' 'If they really want to be public servants, they need to solve this issue,' he said. Though the discussion turned tense, it illuminated the complexity of the immigration debate in the U.S. Schwarzenegger's remarks, whether applauded or criticized, reignited a conversation that continues to divide opinion—and demonstrated that even years out of public office, he remains a provocative voice in American discourse.
