Iran urges people to delete WhatsApp; Khamenei vows ‘no mercy to Zionist regime' amid conflict with Israel
Israel has carried out a wave of airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites, triggering retaliatory strikes from Tehran. Former President Donald Trump has voiced strong support for Israel, stressing that Iran must not be permitted to acquire nuclear weapons. 1. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday issued a stern warning to Israel, vowing a harsh retaliation for its attacks. His statement came as aerial strikes between Iran and Israel persisted for a sixth consecutive day amid the ongoing conflict. 'We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime. We will show the Zionists no mercy,' Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote in English on X. 2. "Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces: The operations carried out so far have been a warning for deterrence, and punitive operations will be forthcoming," IRNA News Agency posted on X. 3. A pro-Israel hacking group claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a cyberattack that disrupted operations at a major Iranian bank, marking another escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations, Bloomberg reported. 4. Local media reports show that Bank Sepah—sanctioned by the U.S. in 2007 over alleged ties to Iran's nuclear weapons program—is facing operational disruptions. However, the full impact of the cyberattack is still uncertain, according to the report. 5. Iranian state television on Tuesday afternoon called on citizens to delete the messaging app WhatsApp from their smartphones, claiming—without providing concrete evidence—that the platform collects user data to share with Israel, AP reported. 6. In a statement, WhatsApp said it was 'concerned these false reports will be an excuse for our services to be blocked at a time when people need them the most.' WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption, meaning a service provider in the middle can't read a message. 7. 'We do not track your precise location, we don't keep logs of who everyone is messaging and we do not track the personal messages people are sending one another," it added. 'We do not provide bulk information to any government.' 8. End-to-end encryption ensures that messages are converted into unreadable code that only the sender and the intended recipient can decode. Even if a third party intercepts the communication, they would only see meaningless, scrambled data that cannot be deciphered without the proper decryption key. 9. Israel's Oil Refineries reported in a regulatory filing to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that missile strikes by Iran had damaged its pipelines and transmission lines in Haifa, Reuters reported. We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime. We will show the Zionists no mercy. 10. US President Donald Trump held a meeting with his national security team in Washington on Tuesday to address the intensifying conflict in the Middle East, according to sources familiar with the discussions. The meeting has sparked renewed speculation that the US may be preparing to support or join Israel's offensive against Iran. (With inputs from agencies)

Muslim States Must Block All Avenues of Assistance to ‘Israel': Imam Khamenei
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that Muslim governments must block all avenues of assistance to the Zionist regime and restrain their criminal hands from continuing these barbaric actions in Gaza. In a message to the 2025 Hajj pilgrims, the Leader also said the United States is a definite accomplice in the crimes of the Zionist regime. 'America's associates in this region and other Islamic regions must heed the call of the Quran about defending the oppressed. They must compel the arrogant US government to end this oppressive behavior. Leader calls on Islamic world to stand up against Israel's 'savagery and evil' — IRNA News Agency (@IrnaEnglish) June 5, 2025 Imam Khamenei emphasized that 'the amazing resistance of the people of Gaza has placed the Palestinian cause at the forefront of the concerns of the Islamic world and all free people worldwide.' He stated, 'We must seize this opportunity and hasten to help this oppressed nation. Despite the efforts of the arrogant and supporters of the Zionist regime to obliterate the name and memory of the Palestinian cause, the evil nature of this regime's leaders and their foolish policies have created a situation in which the name of Palestine is today brighter than ever, and public hatred for the Zionists and their supporters is greater than ever.' He considered this an important opportunity for the Islamic world. Imam Khamenei stated, 'Speakers and those with social authority must work to raise awareness and sensitivity among the people and expand the demands related to Palestine.' He continued, 'You, blessed pilgrims, must not miss the opportunity to pray and seek help from God Almighty during the Hajj rituals, and to ask God Almighty for victory over the oppressive Zionists and their supporters.'

'I Don't Believe the Ongoing Indirect Talks with US Will Lead anywhere': Leader
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei says that he does not believe the ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations with the US will yield any result. The Leader made the remarks while delivering a speech at a ceremony held on Monday, on the occasion of President Raisi's first martyrdom anniversary. In his remarks, Imam Khamenei addressed the topic of nuclear negotiations. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei enters Imam Khomeini Complex to start a ceremony commemorating Martyrs of Service, including former President Ebrahim Raisi, former Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and their companions, who lost their lives… — IRNA News Agency (@IrnaEnglish) May 20, 2025 'The issue of [nuclear] negotiations was brought up. I have a notice for the other side,' he said, adding that the American side, which engages in these indirect talks, should avoid making nonsense remarks. 'Saying things like 'We will not allow Iran to enrich uranium' is nonsense. No one [in Iran] is waiting for others' permission. The Islamic Republic has its own policies and methods and will pursue them [independently],' he emphasized. 'At another appropriate time, I will explain to the Iranian people why the Americans and their Western allies insist so strongly on stopping uranium enrichment in Iran. I will make it clear what their real intentions are.' Iranian negotiators, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, engaged in a fourth round of discussions with an American delegation in Muscat on Sunday. The American team was headed by the US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Mediated by Oman, the talks have been described by both sides as productive and progressing well. The discussions are primarily focused on Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions through a potential agreement to replace the 2015 landmark deal, which the US unilaterally withdrew from during Trump's first term in office.
