Olympo – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap, Review & Ending Explained
Amaia is Always Right Episode 8 of Olympo season 1 starts with Zoe at the Olympo medical facility. She doesn't want to get the injection, but has no choice. Just as Biel is about to give her the shot, the other doctor urgently summons him. Zoe sees an unconscious Roque and gets more anxious. Meanwhile, the other athletes are getting ready for the competition that will give them a chance to go to the Olympics. Olympo is sponsoring the event, making Amaia and Christian feel more helpless. Still, Christian is comforted by the thought that they have each other. Amaia confronts Yolanda, telling her that the ADA missed Nuria's doping. Unfortunately, with no hard evidence, the ADA can't do much. However, Hugo and Jana get anxious when they realise that the ADA will be doing blood tests as well that day. What Happens at the World Championship Competition? Hugo and Jana get a bit worried when the ADA start doing the blood tests. Hugo leaves to head back to Olympo to deal with the Roque situation. Thankfully, the doctors are able to save Roque, but he is resisting any more help. He blames Hugo for lying to him. Hugo warns him not to leave Olympo, or he will lose rugby forever. Back at the HPC, Amaia talks to Renata to find out where Zoe is. Renata tells her that she left with Hugo, and they assume that Zoe took the shot. As it turns out, Zoe doesn't take the shot. She escapes and wins her race. This qualifies her to head to the Olympics, but Hugo pulls her sponsorship for stealing the drug. Her parents blame her without listening to her side. Out of anger and frustration, Zoe storms off. As for Amaia, her mom drops by the HPC to remind her that she should win at all costs. This forces Amaia to take drastic measures and causes Fatima to have an accident. Amaia is driven to the edge when Fatima finds her trying to add a laxative into Nuria's water bottle. After Fatima takes a bad fall. Jana declares Nuria the captain, forcing the coach to quit. Amaia volunteers to replace Fatima, but Nuria picks Peque instead. After this, Amaia confronts Nuria, accusing her of abandonment and drug use. Nuria clarifies that sports have never been fair, and she only chose to do whatever it takes to win. What happens after the first day of the competition? Zoe hides out at the cabin and talks to Sebas about Roque. Sebas is still pissed at Sebas, but Zoe asks him to at least talk to the guy. Roque shows up at the cabin and begs for forgiveness, promising to do better. He announces he is done with Olympo, and Sebas forgives him. The three of them wait for Amaia so they can plan how to take down Olympo. Unfortunately, Amaia never shows up. Christian drops by the cabin, looking for Amaia, and also declares he is done with Olympo. Do They Find Amaia? The four of them spent the night and part of the following morning looking for Amaia. The mystery is solved when Amaia shows up as Nuria's duet partner. They all conclude that Amaia betrayed them. Christian is heartbroken that she betrayed him again. They watch with fascination and anger as Nuria and Amaia break the world record for the full water spins. How Does Olympo Season 1 End? The Olympo executives feel pretty smug after getting away with the doping. As they watch, Nuria and Amaia win; they justify their action and start talking about the next steps. Hugo implies that he will deal with Zoe, who is a problem for them. Unfortunately, Yolanda was unable to get solid evidence against Nuria. Nuria had a perfect explanation for why she was in Andorra, and there was nothing Yolanda could do. It is only after everything is set and done that Zoe gives Yolanda the drug she stole from Olympo. Back at the swimming pool, Nuria and Amaia win a spot for the Olympics. Amaia walks by her friends, who look at her like she is Judas. She doesn't get far before she faints and falls into the pool. She sinks to the bottom as everyone watches, horrified. The Episode Review The season ended with a cliffhanger. We don't know if Amaia joined Olympo and took the shot. We have no idea how she convinced Nuria to let her do the duet. More puzzling is that they were able to break the world record. Given that Amaia's body gave out soon after the competition, we can assume two things. It is either that she took the drug and it is giving her some complications, or she didn't take the drug and fainted from exhaustion. Throughout the season, Amaia has been selfish and has always picked herself over everyone else. Her issue was never to save Nuria, but to prove she was doping. She can't stand someone else being better than her. Simultaneously, we also get her concern. It is not fair if her competition is doping. Amaia put in a lot of effort to be the best. She shouldn't lose to someone like Nuria, who took the shortcut. As much as we should work smart, we should also work hard. Seeing how Amaia's mom is with her explains a lot. She is using Amaia to live out her dreams of being an Olympic winner. It is a pity that she pushed her daughter too far. It is unclear what happened to Fatima, but it is highly possible that Amaia pushed her down the stairs. As for Zoe, she won without the shot and made Renata proud. It must have been frustrating for Renata to see Zoe sell herself short every time when she has so much potential. If we do get a new season, I hope Renata gets her flowers, too. We also have Roque. His future is up in the air. Will he recover? What will Olympo do to him? Now that Yolanda has the drug, will she be able to do a more conclusive test? What would this mean for the athletes in Olympo? We have so many questions. Fingers crossed we get another season. Although the writing was all over the place, we still deserve answers. There is nothing more annoying than when a show gets cancelled in the first season after it ends with a cliffhanger!
