Chelsea sign Swiss international keeper Peng
Chelsea have completed the signing of Swiss international goalkeeper Livia Peng on a four-year deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this afternoon. Advertisement Peng will officially join Chelsea from German Google-Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga club Werder Bremen when she becomes a free agent on 1 July 2025. The player started her senior career in her native Switzerland with FC Zürich. Spells with BK Häcken and Levante followed before Peng joined German club Werder Bremen in 2023. On the international stage, Peng has nine senior caps to her name for Switzerland. The keeper will now test herself alongside some of the world's very best players at new club Chelsea. After joining The Blues, Peng said 'It feels so good to be here. When I was 10, I dreamed of playing for Chelsea. Now, my childhood dream has come true and it's so exciting. I'm really happy to join the Chelsea family and get started. It's such a big club. Chelsea want to win titles and so do I. We're a good match. I'm hungry to win here.' Peng comes in as a replacement for Swedish keeper Zećira Mušović who is moving on this summer when her contract with the South West Londoners comes to an end.

Chelsea ease past Djurgarden to reach Conference League final

George threaded a pass through for Dewsbury-Hall who accelerated past a couple of defenders before sweeping in a crisp finish via the base of the post. That goal killed off any remote hopes for Djurgarden, the first Swedish club to appear in a European semi-final since Gothenburg won the 1986-87 UEFA Cup. Dewsbury-Hall had a chance to double his tally when he headed Malo Gusto's cross straight at Rinne, but the visitors rarely threatened with the exception of a long-range shot from Daniel Stensson that was tipped over by Filip Jorgensen. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca claims winning the UEFA Conference League would prove that his side must be taken seriously as trophy contenders The Blues haven't won a major trophy since the 2021 Champions League, when Thomas Tuchel was in charge at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea's last domestic trophy was the 2018 FA Cup and they haven't won the Premier League since 2017. The west London club are still waiting to win their first silverware since Todd Boehly's consortium took over from Roman Abramovich in 2022. Thursday's Conference semi-final second leg against Swedish side Djurgarden at Stamford Bridge offers a chance to move a step closer to a trophy. Maresca's side hold a 4-1 lead over the Swedish team from the first leg. Should they reach the final on May 28 they would be strong favourites to defeat either Real Betis or Fiorentina and become the first club to win all three of UEFA's current competitions. "Winning the Conference League trophy this season is a statement that you can say Chelsea is back," Maresca told reporters on Wednesday. "If Real Madrid or different clubs don't play in the Conference, it's because they don't deserve to play in the Conference. If we play in it, it's because it's where we are. We need to start from there. "If you're in the Conference, that is the only trophy you can win. We are going to try our best on Thursday. It's a good starting point for a winning mentality." Maresca has come under fire from fans in his first season since arriving from Leicester. The Italian has been criticised for his cautious tactics but he has fifth-placed Chelsea on course to qualify for the Champions League via a top-five finish in the Premier League. Maresca has previously said his young squad need to "live experiences" in order to mature and become capable of challenging for major honours. Last season's League Cup final defeat to a depleted Liverpool side at Wembley was the club's first showpiece since Boehly and Clearlake Capital's £1 billion recruitment drive began. That painful loss came with Mauricio Pochettino in charge. Maresca has had a much easier ride in the Conference League, in which Chelsea have cruised to the semi-finals by thrashing teams from Armenia, the Republic of Ireland and Kazakhstan among other underwhelming opponents. "It's important because it shapes you," Maresca said. "It's nice to win trophies because you learn how to win. Chelsea is a big club with many important trophies in the past, but we need to learn how to win with this squad. "I try to convince the players that day by day you have to build a winning mentality." The news comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues. Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well. Advertisement Palmer was also involved in Chelsea's first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going. Lavia was instrumental Chelsea were ticking in midfield against Liverpool and played much more direct, in transition, and without the lion share of possession. Romeo Lavia was key to this because he is such a progressive player and is always looking to move forward with the ball whether through a pass or dribbling. 'And I kind of, when Lavia came back at the end of the season, I kind of, well, that's good, but I didn't really think, oh, wow, that's going to change Chelsea. 'And actually, I think you could be the man who just will have got them over the line in the end. I mean, I've always been confident they would get there, but I think Lavia is really, really giving them something extra. 'Well, look at that first goal against Liverpool, and it was exactly that. Lavia takes it from deep, Palmer turns Curtis Jones a couple of times. I think there's been a lot of times at this season where that pass goes backwards, or it goes sideways, and it all slows down.
