‘Wednesday' Season 2 Gets An Annoying Release Date, New Trailer

Wednesday At long last, Netflix has decided to tell us when Wednesday season 2 will be out, the follow-up to its most viewed English-language show (by a wide margin) in its history. The release date for Wednesday season 2 is annoying, namely because it's two release dates. Yes, despite moving away from this somewhat recently, Netflix is in fact splitting up Wednesday season 2 into two parts, the first release date on August 6, 2026 and the part 2 date will be September 3. The goal, of course, being that Netflix wants you to subscribe for two months instead of one, if you were reactivating just for that show. The two-part season will be split into chunks of four episodes each, matching season 1, but spaced out by a month. Netflix used to do this sometimes when production took longer than expected, but they starting doing it more for no real reason at all, other than subscription extension, the last few years. They have been easing up on it, however, as things like Squid Game season 2 did not air split up, and some series have reverted back to full binge airing rather than splits they'd done before. Netflix also released a brand new teaser trailer for the season, which you can watch below: And this is the official synopsis for season 2: 'Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery. Creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return for the spine-tingling second season of WEDNESDAY, alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton.' The second season will more heavily focus on Wednesday's family, including what appears to be the arrival of a much taller Puglsy. We're getting a lot of new cast members (yes, that was Steven Buscemi in the trailer) and it appears we are seeing the likes of season 1 villain Tyler return. Wednesday cements the idea that it is extremely hard to predict what will be a hit Netflix series, as a reboot of that decades-old show did not seem like it would have that potential. And here we are, with it the most-viewed series in the streaming era. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Bluesky Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
