World's biggest camera will reveal its first-ever photos next week
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The world's biggest camera, capable of delivering 3200 megapixel image of the night sky, is about to show us its first-ever images. The camera, which is housed at the Vera C Rubin Observatory in Chile, is said to be able to see a golf ball from 15 miles away. On June 23 the first images from its ultra-definition sensor will be made public for the first time. This moment has been a long time coming. We started reporting on this monster camera back in 2019, when the giant lens for the camera, which measures 5 metres across, was being assembled at SLAC, the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, in California. The camera will capture 1000 images a night over the next 10 years, with the project's mission being to catalog 20 billion galaxies. The First Look event at the observatory next week will unveil "of a set of large, ultra-high-definition images and videos that showcase Rubin's extraordinary capabilities to the world for the first time", we are told. "This will mark the beginning of a new era in astronomy and astrophysics". The event will be shown live on the Vera C Rubin Observatory's YouTube channel and on its website from 11am (Eastern Daylight Time) on Monday, June 23, 2025. Hundreds of venues around the world will also be hosting watch parties that include a public viewing of the live stream. Check out the Rubin First Look Watch Party website to find a location near you.

OnePlus 15 to bring some big changes
The OnePlus 13's successor could end up being called OnePlus 15, so as to avoid "4" due to tetraphobia in some Asian markets. That aside, it's now rumored to bring some pretty significant changes. First off, its screen will allegedly be lower-res than its predecessor's, only "1.5K". This was done in order to save some money which is being invested elsewhere in the phone. The display size will be 6.78", it will be flat, and will have ultra-narrow bezels on all four sides. OnePlus 13 The phone's camera island will not be circular anymore, and the device will have three shooters on the back, including a 50 MP main camera and a periscope telephoto camera. It will also introduce its own image brand for the first time. This may as well be Oppo's Lumo, by the way. Thus, it's unclear what will happen with the Hasselblad co-branding, a staple of OnePlus flagships for the past few years. Either it continues and we'll have three brands on the back of the phone - OnePlus, Hasselblad, and the new OnePlus imaging brand - or it doesn't. That remains to be seen. In case the screen resolution downgrade made you think there will be a OnePlus 15 Pro as well, think again - the source of this leak claims that won't be the case, the 15 is all we're getting. Here's the first Huawei Pura 80 Ultra teardown
The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra was unveiled last week, and we can already peek inside it, thanks to Youtuber Yang Changshun. He manages to tear down the Pura 80 Ultra in a video spanning 14 minutes (the process actually took about an hour). The procedure is fascinating in and of itself, but we're all here to see the moving two-lens camera module sitting over a single 1/1.28-inch sensor. Changshun needed to cut open the dual-zoom camera module to get a peek inside. The frames below are from a microscope documenting the process. The dual zoom module moves an 83mm f/2.4 (3.7x) lens and a 212mm f/3.6 (9.4x) lens on top of the largest zoom sensor in a phone - the mid-tele covering the full 50MP imager and the telephoto end covering 12.5MP of it. The lenses move on top of a motorized mechanism comprised of some 140 components. It's truly impressive stuff here by Huawei. A look at the zoom module Here's the video. Source | Via

Fresh Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera leak: this could be a major dealbreaker for many
We're patiently waiting for July and the expected Unpacked event that'll unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, but there are now some concerning leaks regarding the book style foldable phone. Sure, the phone so far looks like a thin piece of magic (as seen in earlier leaks), so the chassis thickness is not what I'm talking about. Instead, something that could be seen as a potential problem is present on the back of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 , if this latest image render, posted by the Reddit user pr0phecy turns out to be true: Image credit – Reddit user pr0phecy The " Fold 7 camera bump is huge!", as the leaker puts it. Indeed, the triple camera setup is housed in a camera island that looks massive, especially when looking at it sideways. The image shows the phone with a case on, which certainly adds to the overall thickness, but the rear camera bar nevertheless looks to be protruding quite a bit. Personally, I don't mind that much – if I feel like the rest of the phone is all I need and those cameras provide stunning photo and video quality, I could live with a camera island the size of I can see that many potential buyers will have a hard time ignoring this – especially in a phone that's all about thinness. As we told you the other day, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be Samsung's slimmest book style foldable yet: ~9mm when folded ~4.5mm when unfolded The leaks so far indicate a visibly thinner chassis compared to other Galaxy Z Fold models and a smaller hinge in the middle. The reason I'm not put off by what I see in that render above is simple: I'm not obsessed with super-thin phones. Yes, of course I find it absolutely impressive (especially by what some Far East foldables are achieving on that front, like the 3.6mm thick Huawei Mate XT Ultimate), but I don't need a phone that thin. Not yet. Maybe I'll change after a couple of years, but I'm perfectly happy with a ~10mm phone. But – and this is the most important part – if I were regarding super-thin phones highly, I'd surely be hesitant to draw out my wallet for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its camera continent on its back. Of course, this is just a preliminary image render – it's not the real thing, so take it with a grain of salt. Be it as it may, July is around the corner and we'll learn all about it real soon.

Deals: Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra prices fall to new low, plus some more affordable offers
The pricing of Xiaomi's 15-series has reached a new low, offering a choice between a relatively compact flagship and an all-out camera phone. We know that many don't consider the Xiaomi 15 to be 'small' with its 6.36' display and 71.2mm width. Still, it's one of the smaller Snapdragon 8 Elite flagships and, unlike say a Galaxy S25, it has triple 50MP cameras on the back. This includes a main with a large 1/1.31' sensor, a 2.6x/60mm telephoto and a 115° ultra-wide. The phone runs on a 5,240mAh battery with fast charging (90W wired, 50W wireless) and gets great battery life. The display is a 12-bit LTPO panel, by the way. The phone launched with Android 15 and will receive 4 OS updates. Xiaomi 15 €300 off Read our review 12/512GB - €800 at Amazon DE The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a chunky camera island and the hardware there is several steps above the 15. For example, the main has a 1'-type sensor. The tele lens is bumped up to 3x/60mm and there's also a 200MP 4.3x/100mm periscope on board. The battery for the global market isn't that large at 5,410mAh. Here's how the Xiaomi 15 Ultra compares with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Xiaomi 15 Ultra €250 off Read our review 16/512GB - €1,250 at Amazon DE If you don't have the budget for a flagship, the Redmi Note 14 Pro is pretty affordable. It comes with a 200MP camera that does solid 2x in-sensor zoom. There's no dedicated telephoto lens and the ultra-wide module has only an 8MP sensor. The 6.67' 1220p+ 12-bit OLED display with Dolby Vision is great and is paired with a good set of stereo speakers. The 5,110mAh battery is a bit slower to charge than we would have liked and the battery life is good but not amazing. For around the same amount of cash you can have the Nothing Phone (3a) instead – this one does have a telephoto module, a 50MP camera with a 2x/50mm lens. This is in addition to the 50MP main and 8MP ultra wide. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is a bit faster than the Dimensity 7300 Ultra inside the Redmi and the 5,000mAh battery lasts a bit longer. The 6.77" 120Hz OLED display lacks Dolby Vision, though. Also, the phone is rated IP64 compared to IP68. Nothing Phone (3a) €50 off Read our review 8/128GB - €280 at Amazon DE Also in this price range is the Honor 200. It's an older model from 2024, but features an even faster Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip. It has a 50MP tele camera of its own with a 2.5x lens, plus a 50MP 1/1.56' main and a 12MP ultra wide. The display is a 6.7' 120Hz OLED panel and there is a 5,200mAh battery with 100W fast charging inside. Honor 200 €50 off Read our review 12/512GB - €300 at Amazon DE The Motorola Moto G56 ends its pre-order period this Sunday. It pairs an entry-level Dimensity 7060 5G chipset with a 6.72' 120Hz IPS LCD with 1080p+ resolution. The phone is rated IP68/IP69. The camera setup features a 50MP main (a small 1/1.95' sensor) and 8MP ultra-wide, plus a 32MP selfie camera. Both a microSD slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack can be found on board. Motorola Moto G56 8/256GB - €250 at Amazon DE Still on pre-order (until Tuesday) and in a very different category is the new RedMagic 10S Pro. This phone features the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite with an active cooling fan – it's one of the best-performing phones out there, but the fan doesn't do much. You get a flat, rectangular 6.85' 144Hz OLED display with an under display camera. Also, there are two shoulder triggers that can be mapped into games. The battery is a massive 7,050mAh cell with 80W charging. We may get a commission from qualifying sales.
