Cincinnati Bengals mock draft roundup: What are the analysts predicting?
April is right around the corner which means it's almost the month of the draft. In less than four weeks, the mock drafts will end and the real draft will start and we'll actually start putting players to teams for real.
For now, we're still in mock draft mode, so let's take another look at some recent mock drafts and who could potentially be the pick at No. 17 for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jarrett Bailey, Touchdown Wire: Mike Green, Edge, Marshall
"The Bengals are set to take another receiver when Trey Hendrickson walks in, rips the card in half, and threatens to sue the Bengals organization if they don't take a defender who can contribute. Now in a bind, Duke Tobin selects Green."
"It looks like the Bengals might be able to keep Trey Hendrickson, but that wouldn't stop me from adding to the defensive front. Cincinnati has met with Mike Green at the NFL Combine, and he'd be a great addition to their team. If the Bengals are comfortable with his previous off-the-field red flags, Green's dominant tape is worthy of a top-20 pick."
Tyler Brooke, The 33rd Team: Malaki Starks, S, Georgia
"After paying big bucks to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the Bengals just need to find good football players on defense.

"Malaki Starks is an elite safety prospect who checks a lot of boxes as an instinctive field general in the secondary, which is something the defense could really use if they're able to hold onto Trey Hendrickson as a star pass rusher."
Ian Valentino, The 33rd Team: Kelvin Banks, OL, Texas
"Sliding Jeanty into this offensive core would be a dream come true, but how can Cincinnati continue to brazenly undervalue its offensive line?
"The team could stand to upgrade multiple interior blocker spots in this class. Kelvin Banks was a tackle at Texas but profiles as an excellent guard candidate as he develops his hand placement and consistency. His movement traits and raw power are fantastic."
Geoff Schwartz, FOX Sports: Mike Green, Edge, Marshall
"Whether Trey Hendrickson plays for the Bengals this season or departs, the Bengals need to keep improving the pass rush. Green's testing matched his high-energy play and there's a lot of excitement for Green's future in the NFL. "
"Teams must fully vet Green's background, but on the field, he's a ready-made pass-rush talent who has boosted his profile significantly over the past eight months. He's not the longest, thickest pass rusher in the class, but Green plays full tilt and has an arsenal of moves to get home."
"The Bengals go best player available here with Starks, and he'll help to rebuild the secondary in Cincinnati."

All-Star Corbin Burnes set for Tommy John surgery, ending his 1st season in Arizona
CINCINNATI (AP) — All-Star right-hander Corbin Burnes of the Arizona Diamondbacks is set to undergo Tommy John elbow surgery, ending his season early in the first year of a $210 million, six-year contract. Manager Torey Lovullo said Friday the decision was made with 'a lot of people weighing in.' Lovullo said the surgery probably would be scheduled for next week. The announcement came three days after the Diamondbacks put Burnes on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. The 30-year-old left his most recent start with Arizona leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning Sunday. After Burnes allowed a single by CJ Abrams with two outs, he gestured toward the dugout with his glove and yelled in frustration. Burnes allowed a run and four hits in 4 2/3 innings. He is 3-2 with a 2.66 ERA in 11 starts this season. Burnes signed with the Diamondbacks after earning his fourth consecutive All-Star nod in his only season with Baltimore last year. He spent his first six years with Milwaukee before an offseason trade to the Orioles in early 2024. 'This is a tough day to get this news,' Lovullo said. 'But we'll find a way to rally around him, play hard for him all year long.' ___ AP MLB:

Al Golden's urgency drives Bengals' offseason workouts as defense aims for a turnaround
Associated Press CINCINNATI (AP) — Al Golden said when he was hired as the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator that he was going to demand a lot from his unit during the offseason workouts. With the Bengals mostly through their practices during the organized team activities, Golden has lived up to his word. 'We can push the limits of our core fundamentals. We can try to see how many concepts we can efficiently get to, which I think is important, and then draw on that in training camp," Golden said. "Although it's not as physical or perhaps as long as training camp, this does serve as a springboard and great foundation for us. Without this segment, it's hard to start off where you want, so that's why there's urgency right now for us.' Urgency has been a theme throughout the offseason for the Bengals, who ended last season on a five-game winning streak but missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record. Cincinnati has started the last three seasons with losses in its first three games. That includes last year's 0-3 start and a 4-8 mark before a late-season charge that fell short. Even though there are restrictions on contact and how physical things can get during the optional workouts, Golden has made the most of the on-field and classroom time to make sure everyone is on the same page. Cross training at positions, especially in the secondary, and knowing what everyone else is doing have been stressed repeatedly. That way adjustments can be made on the fly by players after a call is made. 'When you sit in on those unit meetings and you look at the pre-practice work and all the stuff that they're getting as a unit, it's a very hungry group,' head coach Zac Taylor said. "Al's done a great job setting the standard in that room. The position coaches have followed suit, so I'm really excited about the direction that group's heading.' Golden was the Bengals linebackers coach during the 2020 and '21 seasons before going to Notre Dame, where he was defensive coordinator for three years. Ten players Golden coached at Notre Dame went on to be selected in the 2023, '24 and '25 NFL drafts. Even though Joe Burrow led the league in passing and Ja'Marr Chase was the sixth wide receiver in the Super Bowl era to achieve the receiving triple crown — leading the league in receptions, yards and touchdowns — Cincinnati had a hard time containing opposing offenses, finishing 25th in the league in total defense (348.3 yards allowed per game), The Bengals lost four games last season in which they scored at least 30 points, joining the 2002 and '18 Kansas City Chiefs as the only teams to do that. All told, the defense allowed the fifth-most points in the league (414) and gave up a touchdown on 67.9% of opponent's red zone possessions, the third-worst rate in the NFL. They also were eighth in missed tackles with 117. One area where the Bengals were good on defense was forcing turnovers. They had 25 takeaways, which tied for seventh. But Golden has been placing an emphasis on wanting more by putting in four turnover stations, where players are honing their skills on creating and recovering fumbles or interceptions. 'When you're just constantly adding layers to your to your game, it becomes second nature in practice. So when we have training camp we're always punching the ball. It's not only going to help us defensively but also our offense,' linebacker Logan Wilson said. There have also been some early encouraging signs of the defense's progress. Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who is being moved all over the secondary, was lined up as the slot corner on Tuesday picked off Joe Burrow's pass intended for tight end Mike Gesicki. 'We could be moved anywhere. You just don't know what we're in with the disguises in coverage,' Taylor-Britt said. Golden has done most of the installation though without a couple key players on the field. All-Pro selection and NFL sack leader Trey Hendrickson did not attend voluntary workouts as he tries to get a contract extension. First-round pick Shemar Stewart and second-round selection Demetrius Knight Jr. are in the meeting rooms but not taking part in practices after not signing their rookie contracts or waivers to participate in workouts. 'Trey's a pro. Whatever he's missing in person now, I guarantee you he'll make it up and be ready to go by the time this comes to a resolution,' Golden said. ___ AP NFL: recommended

Draymond Green Has Honest Admission on Warriors' Playoff Loss
Draymond Green Has Honest Admission on Warriors' Playoff Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Golden State Warriors duo Draymond Green and Stephen Curry have seen everything the NBA has to offer alongside one another. Advertisement Both players helped lead the franchise, alongside Klay Thompson, to four NBA titles. Despite their older age, in NBA standards, they are both at the core of the Warriors' current squad. Behind Curry and Green, with the addition of Jimmy Butler, Golden State remains in a position to compete for another banner before a new era arrives in the Bay Area. Green, in particular, was a finalist to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, while also making the All-Defensive First Team. While Green might not be the same player he was nearly a decade ago, he remains highly productive for the Warriors. Some things never change, however. As the Steve Kerr-led squad saw a second-round exit to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Green still managed to receive five technicals in the span of 12 playoff games. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green© Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images Green would have gotten a one-game suspension had he gotten two more technicals during the playoff run. Advertisement During an appearance with Jimmy Kimmel, Green had words about his five technicals. "I went into the playoffs like, 'I'm not getting any techs.' I had five in three games. You only get seven for the playoffs. Thank god lost," Green claimed. While Green is being satirical, he isn't all that wrong. The Warriors forward, with two more series, would have likely served a one-game suspension. The four-time All-Star isn't *actually* happy that they lost in the playoffs, though. He's simply cracking a joke about his technicals. Evidently, Golden State will be in a similar position to compete in the playoffs next season behind the play of Green, Curry and Butler -- though roster changes are needed.
