This 56-Year-Old Man's Mexico Facelift Has Broken The Internet, And Millions Of People Are Questioning Everything They Thought They Knew About Plastic Surgery
We recently covered 51-year-old Michelle Wood's incredible facelift transformation...
Michelle got the work done in Guadalajara, Mexico, and was able to save herself tens of thousands of dollars. She has been documenting the journey on TikTok, where her story has become mega viral.
So, it's no surprise that now a man who has also had a facelift with unbelievable results in Guadalajara is going viral. 56-year-old David Dickson got a facelift a little over a year ago, and this is what he looked like right before his surgery:

I think this goes without saying, but David's look stunned millions of people.
People were saying his results were so amazing, it reminded them of the '90s film Death Becomes Her, where the actors Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn drink a potion to regain their youth.

On average, most people agreed that David looked about two decades younger.
And some people thought he looked even younger!
Either way, both his and Michelle's results have persuaded a lot of people to consider Mexico for plastic surgery.
BuzzFeed spoke to David who said he had a lower facelift, a neck lift, upper blepharoplasty, lower earlobe reduction, and a CO2 laser treatment.

After his cousin had a successful stomach surgery in Mexico, David said he was set on having his plastic surgery done there as well. "I had been searching for a surgeon in Mexico because I knew I couldn't afford one here in the States. I was familiar with the healthcare system in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara and knew it wasn't as scary or antiquated as many people make it out to be. After interviewing several surgeons, I had narrowed my choices down to two in Guadalajara. During this process, I met a friend online who was also planning to use the same surgeon I finally decided on. We kept in touch as our surgery dates approached. After her surgery, she was in the recovery house and recommended I look up Dr. Maribel Belmontes Castillo, saying her work was impeccable. I took her advice, and the rest is history. I am so grateful for her recommendation."
Dr. Belmontes Castillo is also the exact same surgeon Michelle from our previous article used. In fact, she joined a Facebook group David started about his plastic surgery journey in Guadalajara after getting her surgery. "She has credited the page to helping her along the way," he said.
David's Facebook group is called Renewal with Dra. Maribel Belmontes — Est 2024.
David said that after surgery, he had to stay in Guadalajara for 10 days to recover.
Here is where some of his stitches were:
And here he is in the days following his surgery:

"I believe that anyone contemplating plastic surgery should take the time to explore their options and discuss experiences with others. During my research, I joined several Facebook groups, but while some were helpful, they didn't quite meet my needs. That is why I created my own Facebook group dedicated to past, present, and prospective patients, aiming to assist others embarking on this journey. I shared my travel experiences, surgery details, and recovery process, wanting to give an honest portrayal of the entire experience."
"I frequently receive feedback about how beneficial the group has been and how it has eased many worries. A common sentiment expressed is that the surgery itself wasn't as daunting as expected, a sentiment I share as well. I experienced minimal pain, just some discomfort for around three days," he added.

David told BuzzFeed that all of his cosmetic work and a one-night stay in the hospital cost around $9,000, and that includes his roundtrip airfare from Atlanta. His meds, 10 days in a Guadalajara Recovery House with 24/7 care, meals, and post-care therapy (hyperbaric chambers, radiofrequency treatment, etc.) ended up costing around $5,000. So, in total, he spent around $14,000 for everything. That being said, David said that Dr. Belmontes Castillo's prices have increased quite a bit since her work has gone so viral on TikTok.
Since going viral, David has had a lot of comments about his age. "Personally, I believe I could easily pass for someone in their mid-40s," he shared.
And before his surgery, David also lost a lot of weight. "After losing 100 pounds, my goal was to achieve a look that more closely resembled my actual age. The excess skin sagging on me made me appear older than I truly was. I felt like I looked in my 60s before getting the lift. Now, when I gaze in the mirror, I feel more authentically myself than I did before."
"Men, as we age, are fortunately now more focused on self-care, incorporating healthy diets, exercise routines, and even delving into facial skincare. Society is beginning to acknowledge this as a usual practice, not only for women but also for us men. I believe we should take charge of every facet of our well-being, and if that entails considering plastic surgery, whether minor or major, it's worth exploring. Advances in technology have come a long way, making the results barely perceptible. The overly tight and pulled-back appearance of the past is no longer the norm," David said.

David is proof that the advances in plastic surgery procedures have come a long way — and that you don't need to be a wealthy celebrity to have great results. "It is amazing how much your self-confidence can be improved by a procedure that can be performed in a few hours. I know that for me, the reflection in the mirror did not match how I felt on the inside, but now it does," David concluded.
Lastly, David said he hopes that sharing his experience helps men who are interested in plastic surgery become more comfortable with it. You can follow David on TikTok and Facebook.

Daniel Day-Lewis Returns to The Screen in Intense First Trailer for ANEMONE With Sean Bean — GeekTyrant
Focus Features has dropped a gripping trailer for Anemone , marking the highly anticipated return of Daniel Day-Lewis to acting after a seven-year absence. The three-time Oscar winner hasn't been seen on screen since Phantom Thread in 2017, and now he's back with what looks like another emotionally heavy and potentially award-worthy performance. Anemone is a personal project for Day-Lewis. Not only does he star in it, but the film is also the directorial debut of his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who co-wrote the script with his father. Produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B, the film dives into the turbulent emotional territory of family trauma and unresolved pain, centering on the complex relationships between brothers, fathers, and sons. While the plot remains deliberately vague, the trailer sets the mood with a moody, rain-soaked atmosphere as Day-Lewis's character, Ray Stoker, isolates himself deep in a wooded landscape haunted by memories. The story unfolds primarily through raw and intense conversations between Ray and a mysterious man played by Sean Bean. 'All these years, the isolation. This is it. This is my life,' Day-Lewis says in the trailer, immediately setting the somber tone. Bean's character responds, 'I've seen my share of lost souls.' There are cryptic references to their pasts, including one of the trailer's most haunting lines from Day-Lewis: 'The army teaches you to grin and bear it. The war was the crime and we were the phantom soldiers.' Bean presses for answers: 'I can't help you till you tell me what happened.' Day-Lewis replies sharply, 'Is that a question? What do you want from me, brother? What do you want?' The tension peaks with Bean warning, 'You're going to hell, brother,' to which Day-Lewis delivers a chilling response: 'Family reunion.' This project marks an unexpected return for Day-Lewis, who had previously announced his retirement from acting in 2017. At the time, his publicist stated, 'Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years.' Whether this father-son collaboration has reignited his passion for film remains to be seen, but Anemone is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about dramas of the year. The cast also includes Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green, and Samantha Morton. Anemone opens in limited release on October 3 before expanding on October 10.

Watch Stephen King and Takashi Miike Celebrate the Glorious Gore of ‘Texas Chain Saw Massacre'
'Every frame has something unnerving in it,' Patton Oswalt says in the trailer for Chain Reactions—a new documentary about the enduring influence and impact of 1974's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Tobe Hooper's grisly classic has often been imitated and has spawned some regrettable sequels and remakes, but the original remains a uniquely terrifying product of a very specific time and place, not just in pop culture, but also in the realms of independent cinema. A new trailer for Chain Reactions is here, and it gives you a good idea of how it's structured, focusing on five Texas Chain Saw fans in particular. Along with Oswalt, there's Stephen King, Takashi Miike (director of Audition and Ichi the Killer), horror scholar Alexandra Heller-Nichols, and Karyn Kusama (director of Jennifer's Body). As Texas Chain Saw's creepy hitchhiker might say, 'A whole family of Draculas!' It's helmed by Alexandre O. Philippe, whose other films-on-film include Doc of the Dead, Psycho study 78:52, Memory: The Origins of Alien, and Lynch/Oz. 'I think of it as a role model,' Miike muses, noting he first watched Texas Chain Saw at 15 and realized what he wanted his future career path to be. With the IP's rights holders making headlines recently—teasing all the big names in the running to make another version of Hooper's tale—it seems we may see yet another version on screens eventually. Still, as Chain Reactions will no doubt make crystal clear, there's no duplicating the eerie, gritty quality that makes the original such a standout. Anyone can make a movie about a cannibal family running a roadside barbecue joint; anyone can don a human-skin mask, grab a chainsaw, and call themselves Leatherface. But it takes a rare film to infuse a story like that with such a documentary feel; it makes the audience think they're peeping in on a nightmare that's both awful and totally plausible. It's also visceral as hell: you can practically smell the rotting interior of that iconic farmhouse and feel the drop of Grandpa's shaky hammer come down on your own skull. In other words, we're more than excited to see this documentary—and then rewatch The Texas Chain Saw Massacre again. And again. Chain Reactions opens in New York and Los Angeles September 19; according to Deadline, it will expand to more cities September 26. Want more io9 news? YouTube Music turns 10 and adds new ‘taste match' playlists
YouTube Music is launching shared playlists that evolve based on the listening habits of the people who join them. The platform announced the new 'taste match' playlists as part of its 10th anniversary on Thursday, and says it will refresh them with new music every day. It sounds similar to Spotify Blend, which lets you create joint playlists based on a group of people's music tastes. Just like Blend, it seems like taste match could be a fun way to discover what kind of music your friends and family members are listening to. Some other features coming to YouTube Music include the ability to leave comments directly on albums and playlists. You'll soon start seeing upcoming concerts in more places on YouTube, too, as the platform is partnering with Bandsintown to highlight events across an artist's music videos, shorts, and channel. YouTube Music is also rolling out new notifications that can alert you to an artist's upcoming release, new merch, or event dates, as well.
