CM pays homage to Sri Sathya Sai at Prashanthi Nilayam
At Prasanthi Nilayam, the CM was accompanied by Union minister for agriculture and farmers welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as they jointly offered prayers at the Samadhi of the revered spiritual leader.
During the visit, the Chief Minister and state IT and education minister Nara Lokesh conducted a review meeting on the upcoming Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Centenary Celebrations, scheduled for November. They held discussions with Sri Sathya Sai Central trust member R J Ratnakar and other senior officials regarding the arrangements and preparations for the grand event. On this occasion, he also held a meeting with Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was in Puttaparthi for various official programs. Chandrababu brought to his attention several agriculture-related challenges in the state, especially the issues concerning mango farmers and other crop growers.
He urged the Union minister to ensure adequate Central support to help farmers overcome the current crisis and to strengthen the agriculture sector in Andhra Pradesh.

TDP MPs urge Centre to supply adequate urea
Guntur: TDP Parliamentary Party leader and Narasaraopet MP Lavu Krishnadevarayalu, along with MPs Kalisetti Appalanaidu and Tenneti Krishna Prasad, met Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday in Delhi and submitted a representation seeking immediate redressal of the urea shortage crisis in Andhra Pradesh. During the meeting, MP Krishnadevarayalu sought the Centre's support for the dissemination of urea in adequate, required amounts for the state farmers. In the letter submitted he mentioned, as per the July 2025 Kharif supply plan, the Department of Fertilizers had allocated 1,30,000 metric tonnes (MTs) of urea to Andhra Pradesh. However, by 18th July, only 49,485 MTs had reached the state, including material in transit, leaving a shortfall of 80,515 MTs. He said over 1.16 lakh hectares are under paddy cultivation, and major kharif crops such as groundnut, red gram, cotton, and maize are being sown across 8.21 lakh hectares. The resulting demand-supply mismatch has led to panic buying and market pressure on urea availability. They requested to allot 10,000 MTs from M/s KRIBHCO from their Hazira and Tuticorin port plants, increase the allocation from M/s CIL's vessel expected at Krishnapatnam port from 2,400 MTs to 10,000 MTs, ensure timely delivery of upcoming shipments by M/s CIL in line with the supply plan, allocating 11,000 MTs from the MV MAGDA P vessel of M/s IPL expected at Gangavaram port on 20th July, providing 5,000 MTs from leftover RFCL stock arriving via M/s NFL at Gangavaram port.

Sita temple plan on Shah's Bihar visit agenda on August 8
PATNA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Bihar's Sitamarhi district on August 8 to lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Janki temple at Punaura Dham, the mythological birthplace of Goddess Sita. Shah will address a public meeting during his visit. His visit is part of the BJP's strategy to consolidate its political base ahead of the Assembly elections, especially in the Mithila region. CM Nitish Kumar has also assured the state government's full support in developing Punaura Dham as a religious and tourist destination. Political observers suggest that the timing and the scale of the proposed visit of Shah underscore the BJP's attempt to emotionally engage Maithil communities, including Brahmins, Kayasthas, Vaishyas, and the upper-middle classes, through cultural nationalism. The BJP aims to influence 20-25 Assembly seats in the region by addressing the redevelopment issue. The region has a mixed population of Yadav, Muslim, Kushwaha, Dalit and EBC voters. The redevelopment of Punaura Dham is expected to mirror the scale and symbolism of the Ram temple at Ayodhya. Spread over 12 acres, the temple complex will be constructed in the traditional North Indian Nagar style of architecture, utilising white marble and red sandstone. President Rule to be extended in Manipur by another 6 months, Amit Shah to table resolution Rajya Sabha today
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to present a resolution in the Rajya Sabha on Friday seeking a six-month extension of President's Rule in Manipur. The extension will come into effect from August 13, 2025. According to the official notice, it stated, 'That this House approves the continuance in force of the Proclamation dated the February 13, 2025 in respect of Manipur, issued under article 356 of the Constitution by the President, for a further period of six months with effect from August 13, 2025.' President's Rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13, shortly after former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned, largely due to mounting political pressure from fellow BJP MLAs belonging to the Meitei community who opposed his leadership. The current move to extend President's Rule comes amid ongoing efforts by Meitei and Naga MLAs from the ruling NDA to push for the reinstatement of an elected government in the state. Under Article 356(3) of the Constitution, President's Rule is implemented through the Governor's office, typically lasts for six months and can be renewed every six months with Parliament's approval, for a maximum duration of three years. Meanwhile, the ethnic conflict that broke out on May 3, 2023, between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities has led to over 250 deaths and forced more than 60,000 people to flee their homes. In a separate incident, security forces arrested eight militants belonging to different proscribed outfits from Imphal West, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts on Thursday. The police said that security forces have been conducting search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts since the ethnic violence broke out two years ago. The state assembly, which has a tenure till 2027, has been put under suspended animation.
