Life can surprise us with the most unexpected and often absurd situations. From people mistaking mannequins for corpses to someone calling the police on themselves unknowingly, the world never seems to run out of oddities.
And sometimes, a certain story comes along that leaves people laughing, wondering, or questioning how such things could possibly happen.
Whether it's due to confusion, chance, or just plain bad luck, these bizarre incidents become viral sensations, sometimes with a mix of comedy and curiosity that represents the unpredictability of everyday life.
Drinking goes wrong
One such incident happened in Turkey, where a man accidentally joined his own
search party
after being reported missing.
What began as a night of drinking turned into an international story of confusion and an unintentional self-rescue operation.
According to Turkish news outlet NTV, 50-year-old
Beyhan Mutlu
had been out drinking with friends in the province of Bursa. At some point during the evening, he wandered into a nearby forest and didn't return. Concerned for his safety, his wife and friends contacted authorities to report him missing. Local police quickly organized a search effort to comb through the forested area.
Mutlu, unaware that he was the person everyone was looking for, came across the very group searching for him and decided to lend a hand. He joined the volunteers and police, walking through the forest for hours, helping call out his own name, without realizing he was the subject of the search.
Lost man identifies himself
The confusion came to an abrupt end when one of the searchers called out 'Beyhan Mutlu!' and Mutlu responded without hesitation, 'I am here.'
At that point, a rescuer took him aside to get his details and understand what was going on.
'Don't punish me too harshly, officer. My father will kill me,' Mutlu reportedly said, according to NTV.
While it's unclear if any official action was taken against him, police reportedly drove him home safely.
The story has since gone viral, attracting attention across the globe as another example of real-life irony. Though it may not have been the kind of rescue the search team expected, everyone was ultimately relieved at the harmless outcome.

Man convicted of shooting 9-year-old girl from Kerala in head, permanently injuring her

Representational Image LONDON: A man has been convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent for his role in the shooting of a nine-year-old Keralite girl when she was eating ice-cream with her family in a restaurant in Dalston. The girl was hit in the head by the first of six bullets fired from a passing stolen motorcycle at a Turkish restaurant at 9.20 pm on May 29, 2024. She was caught up in a gangland shooting. Javon Riley (33) of Tottenham, London, was also found guilty by a jury at the Old Bailey of attempting to murder three men — Mustafa Kiziltan (35) Kenan Aydogdu (45) and Nasser Ali (44) — who were sitting outside Evin Restaurant. The three men were the intended targets. All four were taken to hospital for emergency surgery. The men had affiliations with Hackney Turks and the shooting was ordered by the Tottenham Turks, a rival gang, the court heard. Both gangs are responsible for importing most of the UK's heroin. The girl has been left permanently injured with a titanium plate in her skull and a bullet still in her brain. She was in hospital for three months and will continue to have physical and cognitive difficulties throughout her life. Her parents hail from Kerala's Ernakulam district and moved to Birmingham three years ago for work. Following the verdict her mother said: 'This was not just an accident — even if our daughter was not the intended target, those responsible were still attempting to take lives, it is brutal and inhumane. We live with this pain every day, knowing nothing will ever be the same for our family.' Riley denied the charges but was convicted on Monday following a three-week trial. He did not pull the trigger but scoped out the area over several days, which included drinking pina coladas at the bar opposite. On the night of the attack, he travelled past the scene several times in a stolen car to ensure the targets were present and helped the gunman evade capture. The gunman and firearm have never been found. Detectives are offering up to £15,000 (Rs 17 lakh) for information that leads to the gunman. Riley, who is not a member of Tottenham Turks, refused to name the gunman or the person who ordered the shooting fearing for his safety. He will be sentenced on Sep 12.

Streamer Destiny allegedly makes a death threat against Hasan Piker after the Twitch star exposes his son's neo-Nazi remarks

An online controversy has erupted surrounding political streamer Steven Kenneth Bonnell II, known as Destiny, and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, aka HasanAbi. Destiny is being slammed online after he allegedly shared a message suggesting that it would be "justifiable" to attack or kill fellow streamer Piker over his political statements. The incident comes after the Piker responded to Destiny's teenage son, Nathan's, neo-Nazi remarks. Streamer Destiny alleges it would be 'justifiable' to attack Hasan Piker On August 17, 2025, Hasan shared a link to Destiny's Twitch stream, accompanied by a message suggesting that it would be "justifiable" to attack or kill Piker in real life due to his political statements. This message was reportedly shared in Destiny's private Discord server and has since been widely circulated, drawing condemnation from various online communities. "I honestly think you could perfectly justify attacking/killing Hasan IRL for statements like this. this is just so far beyond the pale it's actually unbelievable," the message read. Slamming Destiny, who has been banned from Twitch streaming, Hasan in a follow-up post on X wrote, ""instead of taking care of his son, who has now turned into a n**i, this sociopathic cult leader is actively telling his audience that it's moral to kill me in real life because i said Palestinians have a legal right to resist against an illegal occupying force conducting a raid." instead of taking care of his son who has now turned into a nazi, this sociopathic cult leader is actively telling his audience that it's moral to kill me in real life because i said Palestinians have a legal right to resist against an illegal occupying force conducting a raid. Hasan claims Destiny celebrated his harassment Meanwhile, a clip lasting seven minutes and eleven seconds from HasanAbi's latest livestream was posted on his official subreddit, r/Hasan_Piker. About four minutes into the video, while reacting to supposed messages from Destiny in the "Destinygg" chat room, the Turkish-American streamer claimed that Steven appeared to take pleasure in being "harassed" in real life. HasanAbi described a disturbing experience, saying, "One of his active cyberstalking sex cult members literally approached me in public, if you recall, when I was at the DNC. He actually celebrated that in his community." He explained that, in the past, Steven had openly encouraged people to come up to him and harass him in real life. HasanAbi went on to say, "Now, he's amplifying that behaviour to his own audience, his own community. Not only is he increasing the intensity, but he's also suggesting that it's justifiable to attack and even kill me in real life." HasanAbi concluded by asserting, "At this point, I think this goes beyond mere drama." Hasan Piker and Destiny's sons' drama explained Steven's son, Nathan Bonnell is just 14 but has already built a social media reputation for himself with his neo-Nazi views. On August 14, he left everyone surprised after he said, "Hitler is a Hero" and praised Nazi Germany. The tweet quickly gained attention across social media platforms, leading to discussions about the influence of online personalities on their audiences. In response to Nathan's tweet praising Adolf Hitler, Hasan Piker commented that the post might be an attempt by Nathan to gain attention from his father. He suggested that Nathan's actions were a form of "flirting with Nazism" and a way to provoke a reaction. Destiny and Nathan's Relationship For the unversed, Nathan is Destiny's son his previous relationship with his ex-girlfriend Rachel. Their relationship, while initially private, became more public after a contentious divorce, with Destiny often mentioning the challenges of co-parenting and balancing his growing career as a streamer. Nathan has occasionally appeared in online content, and recent public interactions have hinted at a somewhat complex relationship, with Nathan expressing opinions and political stances very different from his father's, sometimes causing controversy online. Dozens of opposition members in Turkiye arrested: media reports

Turkish police arrested 44 people Friday (August 15, 2025) in the Opposition stronghold of Istanbul, including the mayor of the central district of Beyoglu and several of his close advisers, the Anadolu news agency reported. The latest wave of arrests, over alleged corruption, is part of a months-long crackdown targeting the main Opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, considered the biggest political rival to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was arrested in March and subsequently imprisoned. His arrest sparked protests in the country on a scale not seen in more than a decade. CHP leader Ozgur Ozel wrote on X on Friday (August 15, 2025) that, in '149 days, the judiciary has not managed to produce an indictment'. 'Because they only have slanderous accusations like 'I heard that',' he added. Ozel called the wave of arrests 'vengeance which aims to cover up the damage caused (to the country) by the AKP gang' of Erdogan, who has been in power since 2022. CHP mayors from a number of other cities have also been arrested. According to analysts, the government is attempting to undermine the CHP, which emerged as the clear winner in local elections in the spring of 2024 at the expense of Erdogan's Justice and Development Party.
