Oman Sail and Barceló Mussanah Resort join forces to support High Performance team
Muscat – Oman Sail is proud to welcome the Barceló Mussanah Resort as its Official Hotel Partner for the Oman Sail Hight Performance Team. The partnership will run until 31 December 2025, during which time members of the 49er team will train at the resort ahead of major events.
The team comprises four Omani sailors, two international sailors and professional coach. Taking part in the Oman Sail High Performance Team are Waleed Al Kindi, Musab Al Hadi, Zakariya Al Wahabi and Abdulmajeed Al Mujaini alongside, Hashim Al Rashdi, Head of coach and Ahmed Al Hassani, 49er coach.

The partnership supports the ongoing development of Oman Sail's High-Performance team in line with the established sailing strategy. Oman Sail's ultimate aim is to win an Olympic medal in sailing for the nation.
During 2025, the team will stay at the resort to prepare for the 49er European Championships in Greece, taking place from 1-8 June, and Kieler Woche in Germany from 21-29 June. The period also includes the 49er World Championship in Italy from 7-13 October and the Asian Sailing Championship from 10-18 November. Looking to the future, the team will aim to develop in preparation for major events including the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

MUSCAT, JUNE 6 AeroVecto, an Oman-based startup specialising in sustainable air mobility solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Romanian-based LYNEports, a digital planning platform for advanced air mobility infrastructure, to support the rollout of hybrid electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aviation services in Oman and the wider GCC region. The partnership is set to take advanced air mobility services, currently in its nascency in Oman, to the next level. A number of Omani startups, in partnership with key players in the global international, are gearing up to introduce uncrewed air mobility services for, among other fields, cargo deliveries, passenger transportation, ambulance services, medical deliveries and even disaster relief. AeroVecto is credited with developing Shuttle, a hybrid eVTOL aircraft purposely built for mass public transportation. According to the company, the high-capacity aircraft will enhance current ground-based public transport by enabling convenient point-to-point travel. With a focus on passenger volume and comfort, Shuttle aims to revolutionise urban and intercity mobility, introducing a new era of clean, efficient and scalable air transport. Through the partnership, LYNEports will assist in planning and simulating AeroVecto's Shuttle network, ensuring each site meets aviation-grade safety standards, operational viability and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, by leveraging LYNEports' AI-driven platform, AeroVecto can evaluate ideal locations, model flight routes and visualise integrated transport systems, accelerating the adoption of advanced air mobility across Oman. Oman hopes for direct World Cup spot dashed as Jordan win 3-0 in Muscat
MUSCAT- A dominating Jordan outplayed hosts Oman 3-0 in their penultimate AFC Asian Qualifiers - Road to 26 Group B tie at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Thursday. The defeat ended Rasheed Jaber-coached Red Warriors' hopes of a direct spot from the group as the top two would seal the berth. With just one game remaining, Oman, now at 10 points, can manage only three more points, which would not be enough to even keep the third spot as they are now fourth. South Korea lead the standings and have qualified with 17 points while Jordan after the win are second at 16. Iraq are third with 13 and the match between Jordan and Iraq in Amman on 10 June will decide the second team from the group to seal the spot. Oman take on Palestine in their final game of the round on 10 June with Palestine at fifth spot with seven points. Kuwait are at bottom with six points. Jordan will remain in pole position against Iraq as they only have to avoid defeat to advance. Jordan's win against Oman was marked by Ali Olwan's hat-trick. At the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, both sides tested each other in the first 10 minutes, and Oman captain and keeper Faiz Al Rusheidi had his first shot of adrenaline when Mousa Al Ta'mari put the ball past him in the 11th minute only for the Ligue 1 midfielder to be ruled offside. The hosts' slow and steady build-up was hampered by poor finishing, with Abdul Al Mushaifri and Harib Al Saadi both fluffing their shots in the 15th and 19th minutes respectively.
