Who is Sana Yousaf, the 17-year-old social media creator, and why was she murdered?
Today, while the social media creators' content is booming with a massive audience, young content creators often rise to fame by sharing snippets of their lives, talent, and creativity.
For many, these platforms are not just for entertainment, they're a source of their livelihood, a source of identity, and a way to connect with the world.
One such rising star was Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old TikTok creator from Pakistan, who had gained popularity for her short videos and growing social media popularity.
Who is Sana Yousaf?
Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old from Upper Chitral in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was well-known on TikTok for her videos that got thousands of views.
She had also built a strong following on Instagram, with more than five lakh followers, and had a growing influence as a digital creator.
Tragically, she lost her life on Monday in Islamabad, where she had been living. According to a report by The Express Tribune, Sana was shot at close range by an unknown attacker who entered her home and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The motive behind the murder is still unclear, and police investigations are ongoing. It is suspected to be an honour killing
While the identity of the shooter hasn't been officially confirmed, local media reports suggest the suspect may have been a guest at her home.

Police officials said, 'Sana Yousuf, who belonged to Upper Chitral, resided in Sector G-13 of Islamabad, was fatally shot by a guest who had come to visit her at her residence. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the incident, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.
"
Her body was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem, and authorities are yet to make an arrest.
This is not the first such case
Sadly, this isn't the first case of a young girl in Pakistan being targeted over social media. Earlier this year in Quetta, a 15-year-old girl named Hira was allegedly shot by her father and uncle in another suspected case of honour killing related to her TikTok activity.
The most well-known case remains that of Qandeel Baloch, a social media star murdered by her brother in 2016 for her bold online presence. Her case brought international attention to the dangers faced by women who challenge societal norms in Pakistan.

Cheers to chaos: 14-year-old young fan dies, caught off guard at RCB's victory celebration
From cheers to chaos: 14-year-old young fan dies, caught off guard at RCB's victory celebration BENGALURU: After watching the IPL final late into Tuesday night, a 14-year-old girl from Yelahanka, Bengaluru, wanted to see her cricketing heroes in person. The girl, who had just begun a new academic year as a class 9 student at Poorna Pragna School in Yelahanka, went to Chinnaswamy Stadium along with her mother, aunt and grandaunt. And what was to be an extended celebration of her favourite team's long-eluded title victory ended in tragedy Wednesday morning. The girl's maternal grandfather Lakshminarayan, standing outside Bowring Hospital, was trying hard to make sense of the turn of events. Dimple, as the girl was fondly called at home, had planned the day with her family members — a day to be filled with joy. 'Around 10am, my elder daughter (Dimple's mother) told me they wanted to directly witness RCB victory celebrations,' he said. 'Initially, I advised them against going. Later, I told them to be safe and cautious if they, indeed, go. Little did we reckon that Dimple's life would be cut short so suddenly, so brutally and so tragically.' At the stadium, where the four women members of the family were eagerly waiting for cricketers to arrive, there was a sudden and frightening surge in the number of people storming into the stadium. All hell broke loose in the blink of an eye, with people began pushing, screaming and running helter-skelter. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo A stampede occurred, and Dimple was caught in it. Lakshminarayan said, 'My younger daughter called me and told me to rush to Bowring Hospital. When I asked her 'why', she didn't say anything. She kept crying. I wondered if something untoward had happened. People trampled upon my granddaughter. She was stuck underfoot. They somehow rushed her to Bowring Hospital. But it was too late, and we lost our Dimple.' Her family had been proud of Dimple's academic achievements, her cheerful nature and her excitement for the new school year. 'They went to see cricketers and to be part of happiness. We never imagined this,' the grieving grandfather said.

'It's shameful Bengaluru couldn't manage 1km victory parade': RCB gave city pride but poor planning brought it shame
BENGALURU: A perfect storm of giddy, overenthusiastic fans, poor planning by officials, bad stadium management, stretched police force, shortage of time, clueless event management and lack of communication between stakeholders resulted in the tragic and totally avoidable, deaths of 11 RCB fans and left 75 injured. At the crack of dawn, RCB lit up social media with the big news: The champions were flying home with the coveted IPL trophy and would celebrate with a grand victory parade in Bengaluru. It was an announcement that caught the cops unawares as they had no communication about it. But it sent the already-electrified fanbase into overdrive. Then came the colossal collective failure: Cops failed to act swiftly and draw up crowd-control plans. Politicians turned the celebration into a photo-op frenzy, brushing aside warnings in their race to bask in reflected glory. Many brought their families to Vidhana Soudha to pose with the cricketers. "RCB gave the city a reason to celebrate. But police and netas turned that joy into grief with their sheer incompetence. It's shameful that Bengaluru couldn't manage a 1km victory parade," said the grieving brother of one of the victims. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Even senior bureaucrats admitted that the lives could have been saved with proper planning and coordination. "The RCB management did not consult us before announcing a victory parade. We would not have allowed it given the crazy celebrations that unfolded on the streets on Tuesday night. But the political bosses were in no mood to listen, they wanted us to go ahead with bandobust," a senior police officer said. Those who fell were trampled Till mid-afternoon, there was no clarity whether there was a parade and where the events would be held. Senior cops were informed only around 2pm to be at the stadium and the assembly. By which time, the crowds had already gathered. At the cricket stadium, the scenes from early afternoon held bad portents. Fans had started flocking to the gates by noon and it was apparent to any bystander that things would get of control soon. TOI reporters, who could not even get in, found that most gates stayed shut and false rumours of gate numbers led to a huge rush. Naturally, barricades collapsed, metal grills broke down and those who fell — mostly young people and women — were unable to get up and got crushed and trampled.
