SWAT: Exiles: Deacon & Victor Tan Actors React to the Spin-off Announcement

Yahooa day ago

While the upcoming spin-off series, titled SWAT: Exiles, will soon usher in a new era for the fan-favorite franchise, its abrupt announcement seems to have drawn a bittersweet reaction from Jay Harrington, who played Deacon, and David Lim, who portrayed Victor Tan in the original series. The duo has come out to share their disappointment about being informed of the spin-off just two days after the premiere of the SWAT Season 8 finale.
In a recent discussion, Jay Harrington, who played the role of Deacon on SWAT throughout its eight-season run, noted that the cast was completely unaware of the existence of SWAT: Exiles.
While speaking with TVLine, the Better Off Ted alum revealed that 'not once' was he notified of the recently confirmed SWAT spin-off. Harrington, along with most of the rest of the show's cast, only came to know about plans for Exiles on May 18, from Hondo actor Shemar Moore. Understandably taken aback by the sudden announcement for SWAT: Exiles, Harrington stated, 'I did not have a spin-off on my bingo card, for sure.'
While he admitted that the SWAT producers did not owe him anything, he did say that the studio should've let him know that they wanted a 'clean break [and to] start fresh.' 'If there was any disappointment, it's that when they announced it, we weren't mentioned at all,' Harrington added.
While Harrington expressed his feelings about SWAT: Exiles in an expansive interview, his co-star, David Lim, penned a heartfelt message on his Instagram profile to do the same.
After showing gratitude to fans for celebrating his eight-year stint on SWAT, Lim let his thoughts about the forthcoming spin-off be known. He wrote, 'I'd be lying if I said the rollout of the new spinoff didn't sting. It was tough to see it announced just two days after our finale—with no mention of the cast who helped build S.W.A.T. from day one. After 8 incredible seasons, it felt like we were brushed aside when there could've been a moment of reflection and recognition—for the people who built this show, and for the impact it had on so many.'
Despite his criticisms of how the announcement of SWAT: Exiles was handled, Lim reiterated how proud he was of his castmates before concluding his message by noting, 'No version of this story can take that away.'

Hunting Wives Adaptation Starring Malin Akerman, Brittany Snow Moves From Starz to Netflix for July Release

Another one of TVLine's 'missing' shows has been found. A TV adaptation of May Cobb's 2021 novel The Hunting Wives, ordered to series by Starz in October 2023, instead will be released by Netflix — on Monday, July 21. More from TVLine Emmys Twist: Dept. As explained by Deadline, the move stems from Starz's split from Hunting Wives acquirer Lionsgate Television, which took effect last month. Described as a twisty thriller, The Hunting Wives tells the story of Sophie O'Neil (played by American Dreams' Brittany Snow) and her family's move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Banks' (Trophy Wife's Malin Akerman) irresistible charms — and in turn finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murrrrderrrr. The cast also includes Chrissy Metz, in her first post-This Is Us TV role, as Starr, a working-class woman and staunch Christian who is not welcomed in the high-society world of the Hunting Wives; Katie Lowes (Scandal) as Jill, wife of Reverend Clint and 'queen' of the local megachurch; Jaime Ray Newman (Eastwick) as Callie, a sheriff's wife and amazing marksman who is the 'second in command' of the Hunting Wives; and George Ferrier (One of Us Is Lying) as Brad, a perfect All-Texan boy who behind closed doors has an emotionally incestuous relationship with his mother. Dermot Mulroney (Chicago Fire) and Evan Jonigkeit (Sweetbitter) round out the cast, while Karen Rodriguez (Acapulco), Michael Aaron Milligan (Ruthless) and Hunter Emery (Hightown) fill recurring roles. Filming on The Hunting Wives began in spring 2024 and wrapped last year. 'Missing' Shows, Found! Is Doctor Who Reunion Inevitable? Did Cleaning Lady Kiss Leave You Cold? How Would SNL Have Handled Trump/ Musk Break-Up? More TV Qs!

We've got questions, and you've (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we're lobbing queries left and right about Doctor Who, The Cleaning Lady, Law & Order: Organized Crime and more! 1 | Given that David Tennant is still playing a Doctor in the Whoniverse, what are the odds that — in any potential new season of — Fourteen will cross paths with whomever/whatever Tennant's former on-screen companion, Billie Piper, is now playing? Doctor Who: Watch Jodie Whittaker Nerd Out Over New TARDIS During Her 'Emotional' Return to Set 2 | Among the many issues we had with HBO's Mountainhead: When it became clear that his friends were trying to murder him, why couldn't Jeff just call for help? (They all had their phones, and they all have well-paid staffers hovering nearby.) And then the next morning, why did Jeff send his bodyguards away to face his would-be killers without backup? 3 | Given how easily s Dama was dispatched, isn't it kind of ridiculous that Bruegel or Christos or somebody didn't take her out sooner? Also, Animal Kingdom fave Jake Weary had so little to do on Dead City before Christos was killed off that we've gotta ask: What was the point of casting such a good actor in such a nothing role? 4 | What's your best theory as to why 's Kat pretended not to remember Seraphina's name when they'd just talked? And are you surprised that both Conrad and Maeve survived to the end of the season? Also: Harry's going to do something about that kitchen knife sticking out of his pec, right? ▼ And, forgive us, but did anyone else hear 'boobs' when Conrad told Maeve he loved her down to her 'boots' while they were chatting in prison? 5 | Was 's all-time wipeout countdown one of the more entertaining things you've watched on TV this spring? 6 | The Cleaning Lady fans, didn't you wish we'd gotten a little more oomph from that Thony/Jorge kiss in the finale? 7 | Does Zach Braff's description of the in-the-works revival — that JD is now 'beaten down by the system' — make it sound like Bill Lawrence & Co. are hoping to create the comedy version of The Pitt? 8 | Since moneybags Bill cut off Luna, where did the double murderess get the cash to buy that gun? ▼ For that matter, how is she paying for this apartment? 9 | Does really need the whole 'Who is the insider?!' mystery element? (Or without that, is the freshman series a full 100% identical to his half dozen other Fox shows?) 10 | Is it now safe to say that 's Voit has not been faking his amnesia…? And is anyone worried that the road is being paved for him to (gulp) 'join' the BAU next season? 11 | Has forgotten about Elliot's tremors? 12 | When all is said and done, could Jonathan Jackson's much-ballyhooed, nine-month General Hospital encore have been any more underwhelming? 13 | Is this one of those weeks in politics where you really miss what might have done with the big headline? Brown and Daniel Kountz, who met in 2001 while filming one of Disney Channel's beloved Halloweentown movies. Through the process, Emily rediscovers the joys of the holiday that she and her late grandmother once cherished.' A premiere date has not been set, but Hallmark confirmed that we'll return to Evergreen Lane 'this fall.' Will you tune in to watch these Halloween icons do what they do best?
