Brad Pitt has hired Timothée Chalamet's stylist. The result is a midlife wardrobe crisis
It's different for men. No matter how follicularly challenged or wrinkly, male actors can play the lead until they cark it. As a consequence of this entitlement, many of them age not so much like fine wine as curdled cheese, with little thought given to their grooming or wardrobe. There's even kudos in looking careless and dishevelled: just ask Jack Nicholson.
Today, however, even male actors are required to up their game. Gruelling workouts, surgically enhanced faces and questionable dye jobs are increasingly commonplace, while wardrobes have to be exponentially on point now that men's style is critiqued as assiduously as women's. For those actors deemed to get it right, the spoils are rich. Embracing a more, um, metrosexual style after his James Bond contract ended made Daniel Craig fashion's new darling, with a Loewe ad to boot. Timothée Chalamet 's naturally quirky, expressive style made him fashion's (and the internet's) favourite boyfriend.
Brad Pitt is the antithesis of Chalamet. Where Chalamet, 29, favours sequinned bibs, silver Chanel handbags and pink puffer jackets, Pitt has always been a classic, understated dresser in the all-American mode: part James Dean, part Robert Redford. On formal occasions, his suits were sober, while his off-duty look rarely deviated from some monochromatic combination of grey sweater, white T shirt, Palladium boots and nondescript jeans. Very demure, very mindful, very manly.
But all this has changed. Something is afoot with Pitt's wardrobe; a volte-face so extreme that some are even calling it a midlife crisis. At 61, one would imagine that Pitt was a couple of decades past the phase that might have seen him buy a drum kit, get heavily into wine-making or dye his hair an ill-advised brown in an attempt to revert to the shade of his youth. Besides, he's embraced two of these midlife rites of passage already. But how else to explain his sudden embrace of colour after a lifetime of monochrome, or his enthusiasm for tie-dye, patchwork and crushed velvet?
The explanation is simple: Pitt has enlisted the services of a new, additional stylist, Taylor McNeill (he already works with George Cortina). Nor is it any coincidence that McNeill's most famous client is Chalamet, with whom she's been working since around 2021. While Chalamet has always been an unconventional dresser, McNeill has finessed his style, polishing it in much the same way as Law Roach did with Zendaya. Chalamet's press tour wardrobe for Dune (2021) and A Complete Unknown (2024) made headlines for all the right reasons.
New York-based McNeill, who has worked for Vogue and Vanity Fair, has a particular knack for dressing stars in the kind of outfits and accessories that quickly go viral. As well as styling fashion favourites such as Lorde and Margaret Qualley, it was McNeill who dressed the rapper Kendrick Lamar in Celine boot-cut jeans for his performance at February's Superbowl. Despite their £830 price tag, they sold out immediately, as well as spearheading the current trend for bootcut jeans. Those for whom this achievement remains abstract and therefore underwhelming may like to note that according to Launchmetrics, McNeill's move earned Celine $2.3 million (£1.7 million) in media impact value. In short, putting the right look on the right celebrity at the right time is big business.
Pitt, it seems, is adhering to the same playbook that saw Craig and Chalamet up their profile by upping their eccentricity. At Esquire, it's even referred to as 'Daniel Craig Syndrome', according to the menswear magazine's style director, Johnny Davies. 'Some people may call it a 'midlife crisis', but it's more nuanced than that. As young men, Pitt and Craig were both famous for being very good looking, but they were seldom known as stylish. They're still very good looking, but youth is no longer on their side – Craig is 57, Pitt is 61. One way to keep up the head-turning currency is with clothes.'
For the summer edition of GQ, Pitt was photographed cosplaying a high fashion version of an alpha male, complete with suede Louis Vuitton boiler suit and dirt-smeared £3,350 Saint Laurent leather waders. But this was for a fashion shoot – hardly real life. It was also a form of method dressing that nodded to his starring role in the film, F1: The Movie, in which he plays a racing driver. On the press tour for F1, Pitt mercifully eschewed method dressing in favour of unexpected combinations such as a blue crushed velvet jacket worn with jeans, and a burgundy sweater teamed with tango-orange trousers – an unexpected departure, but it got people talking. Which was the point.
As for whether Pitt's new wardrobe is working, opinion is divided. 'Brad has very conventional good looks. He really suits mainstream fashion – things like leather biker jackets and mid-wash jeans. To suddenly rip up his own rule book and start dressing like Timothée Chalamet, who's half his age, looks a bit tragic. It also looks a bit false, as though he's playing dress-up,' says one British menswear stylist.
Davies thinks Pitt's simply keeping up with the times. 'Today, the trendiest chaps around are not wearing traditional suits – Barry Keoghan, Chalamet and Colman Domingo are bossing the red carpet with experimental and outré looks, and the internet goes mad. Menswear has moved on. The key thing with Craig, and now Pitt, is they actually look like they're enjoying themselves in these clothes. Put it down to not caring what people think after a certain age, put it down to still wanting those IG eyeballs when you're launching a $300 million racing movie – but we're here for it.'

The best dressed at Wimbledon and the trends they served
Once again, at this year's Wimbledon tournament, the only thing distracting from the tennis is the court-side style. 'Wimbledon has turned the stands into a catwalk, and I am here for it,' says model and presenter Leomie Anderson, who is covering Wimbledon as Clearpay's fashion expert this season. If recent years saw guests erring on the side of safe – quiet luxury defined by demure dresses, boxy blazers and the occasional fascinator – 2025 has shifted gear. 'There's a real shift happening,' Anderson explains, 'people used to play it safe with blazers, midi dresses, the usual suspects. But this year, the crowd is serving. It's like everyone got the memo that Wimbledon is just as much a style moment as it is a sport.' And the stats back her up. Broderie anglaise is booming – with maxi dresses up 147%, skirts up 33% – hats are having a high-fashion renaissance with floppy styles up 99%, and butter-yellow is surging according to Clearpay. The best celebrity looks managed to balance their personality with a playful nod to the tournament's stereotypes – from Wimbledon whites to strawberries and cream. 'There's something powerful about its simplicity, the traditions – the setting, the subtlety,' says Anderson. 'People know they have to bring their A-game.' Here are some of the best-dressed celebrities at the tournament so far and how they aced Wimbledon style. Olivia Rodrigo A masterstroke in edging up tradition, singer Olivia Rodrigo, 22, wore a red gingham shirt dress by Ralph Lauren from the spring/summer 2000 archive – a playful nod to Wimbledon's iconic strawberries and cream. Her boyfriend, Louis Partridge, 22, coordinated in a red striped tie and navy blazer. Following her headlining performance at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, Rodrigo managed to nail the elusive balance of British heritage and Gen Z irreverence. Anna and Michael Murray Also sticking to Wimble classics was retail tycoon and CEO of Frasers Group, Michael Murray, who went traditional in a linen white suit, a cream Panama and brown suede loafers. His wife Anna wore the print of the season in a tulle black and white polka dot midi dress, with black suede pumps and black leather Birkin. Cate Blanchett Actress Cate Blanchett, 56, stood out on Centre Court in a pearlescent Prince of Wales check suit by Giorgio Armani. Sharply tailored but soft in palette, it was a classic Blanchett power move, turning heads without the noise. 'Cate's baby blue tartan suit was effortless and elegant,' Anderson puts it, 'that classic tailoring is signature Cate cool.' Leslie Mann Wimbledon whites are a fail-safe style to sport year after year. While they run the risk of becoming repetitive and – dare I say – boring; when styled right with interesting cuts, whites can be as elegant as ever. Actress Leslie Mann, 53, appeared on day three in an ivory Dior bar jacket and delicate lace skirt. The look was reminiscent of the Princess of Wales recent Self Portrait ensemble at the Order of the Garter in June. David Beckham One thing more certain than spotting a cream Panama hat in the Wimbledon stands is spotting David Beckham. The 50-year-old former footballer once again brought off-court elegance in a cream silk-linen suit from his own Boss collaboration, finished with a chocolate brown tie. The only fashion blunder was plaster cast on his right arm – though even that couldn't detract from his summer suiting credentials. Dominic Cooper Unlike Beckham, 47 year-old actor Dominic Cooper opted out of the classic Wimbledon look and sported a bright powder blue suit with matching trainers. 'I'm seeing bold colour choices […] and people leaning into what makes their style unique,' says Anderson of the look. Cooper reminded us that co-ordination doesn't have to mean stiff – and tonal can be a statement when done right. Tom Daley Dusky teal was Olympic diver Tom Daley's shade of choice – cool and contemporary and a refreshing break from Wimbledon white. Daley, 31, paired the Paul Smith suit with a Christian Louboutin clutch and a Chopard watch. Judy Murray Mother to former Wimbledon champion Sir Andy Murray, Judy Murray chose a sunshine-yellow Me+Em dress with white platform trainers. The cheerful dress was bang on trend, with butter yellow emerging as the summer's sleeper hit. Murray, 65, wasn't the only celebrity to sport the shade, '[actor] Omari Douglas's all-yellow outfit too […] is exactly the kind of energy the tournament needs,' says Anderson. Sarah Lancashire and Peter Salmon Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire joined Mann in Wimbledon whites, wearing an embroidered cream dress and linen blazer. Joined by television producer Peter Salmon in a deep blue suit, the pair delivered a Wimbledon-appropriate palette that played within the lines without looking predictable. Rebel Wilson One of Anderson's favourite looks of the tournament: Rebel Wilson's pink broderie anglaise Temperley London dress. 'Broderie is having a major moment […] Rebel Wilson in that pink broderie anglaise dress on Day 1 was perfection,' says Anderson. The actress finished the look with a neutral pair of Gianvito Rossi sandals. Alexander Armstrong Pointless star Alexander Armstrong, 55, made a strong case for colour in a royal blue linen suit in the Royal Box. An understated yet eye-catching alternative to classic navy, Armstrong's look was just the right kind of bold for a Wimbledon box seat. Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe Actor Eddie Redmayne, 43, kept things clean in a classic cream linen suit, while his wife Hannah, 42, dialled up the impact in a red polka-dot Alessandra Rich shirt dress.

There's something about a McDonald's Happy Meal that turns us all into big kids, no matter what age we are. And they have contained some amazing toys over the years including their exciting collabs that keep on launching – like Toy Story and Minecraft. 2 The Happy Meal The McDonald's Happy Meal has been around since 1979 and a small toy or book is included with the food. Both of which are usually contained in a red cardboard box with a yellow smiley face and the McDonald's logo. The first toys included a McDonald's themed stencil, a wallet and a spinning top. However, as the years flew past, the toys got more sought after as they tied in with the latest craze or new film release. Hungry youngsters were likely to find action figures, toy cars and puzzles inside the boxes down the decades. In recent years, McDonald's has started phasing out plastic toys in favour of more sustainable items. But how much are the most legendary toys now worth? TY Teenie Beanie Babies These were mini soft toys that were in meal boxes in 1997, during the Beanie Babies craze. There were huge queues at some McDonald's restaurants for them. There were even reports of fights breaking out, such was the demand reports The News. The popular characters included Patti the Platypus and Pinchers the Lobster. A complete set of 12 Teenie Beanies toys from 1998 is listed for sale on eBay for more than £420, but they are available for less elsewhere. Changeables These were released in the late 80s and early 90s, when Transformers were the new craze. They converted from food items like a burger or fries into dinosaurs or robots. However, the average price for a set of four Changeables on eBay seems to be only £30. Hot Wheels McDonald's teamed up with Hot Wheels to include model cars in Happy Meal boxes in 1983. They have produced quite a few classic vehicles over the years since then. A Cadillac Seville, is listed for sale on eBay for just over £50. Toy Story 2 figures These were released in 2000 to tie in with the huge blockbuster Toy Story 2. They included Woody, Slinky Dog and Buzz Lightyear, which everyone wanted. A set of six toys from that collection is listed on eBay for £25. Sonic games Sonic the Hedgehog handheld games were given in Happy Meals in 2003. Lego Motion Basic Lego toys were given away inside Happy Meals in 1989, with models including a helicopter, a race car and a sea plane. You can pick these models up for around £5 each on eBay. Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti enjoys romantic getaway with girlfriend Iris Au as she faces jail term over $2.6million tax row
Davide Sanclimenti and his girlfriend have enjoyed a romantic getaway to California 's sun-soaked Santa Catalina island amid her legal troubles over a $2.6million tax row. The Love Island star, 30, and Iris Au, 35, went public with their relationship in January after she agreed to plead guilty to a charge after failing to report financial gains she obtained via her ex boyfriend's cryptocurrency. It was revealed that Iris could face up to three years behind bars when she's sentenced, something Davide, who is 'staying by her side', says he's been aware of all along. And it seems the couple are trying to take their minds of Iris's legal woes, as they shared snaps from a romantic getaway in California. Davide, who appeared on season 8 of Love Island in 2022, and his new flame looked totally smitten while posing in their swimwear by the coast. Iris showed off her enviable curves in a skimpy blue bikini while cuddling up close to her boyfriend of six months. The self-proclaimed 'Italian Stallion' also shared pictures of him and his partner enjoying a trip on a helicopter together, with the loved-up couple posing for a selfie while strapped in for the ride. Iris too posed up a storm for a solo snap, looking sensational in a white and black two-piece in front of a scenic backdrop. It comes just a couple of months after Davide, who left the Love Island villa with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, broke his silence about Iris's run-in with the law. Davide revealed that he 'stole' her from her ex-boyfriend cryptocurrency fraudster Iza, who has been dubbed 'The Godfather', while they were still together. It was during her time with Iza that Iris allegedly became involved in illegal activity. She agreed to plead guilty to a federal criminal tax charge earlier this year meaning she's likely to be thrown behind bars. A statement revealed that she had agreed to plead guilty to the tax charge and also agreed to pay a federal criminal tax charge for failing to report $2.6 million (£2,004,886) in crypto income. She illegally gained this profit from the criminal activities of her then boyfriend. Davide however is loyally sticking by her side, telling MailOnline in March: 'How The Italian Stallion stole the girl from the Godfather with the LAPD on a speed deal… this sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster,' he said. 'The truth is that I knew about her situation from the start which is why I was protecting her. 'Iris is an amazing person who has been through difficult situations that most people could never understand. 'There's so much of this extraordinary story that people don't know yet. I will be there by her side to supply her as she deserves all the support and understanding.' According to Au's plea agreement, from 2020 to 2024, her ex Iza committed a series of crimes, including fraudulently obtaining access to advertising accounts and lines of credit provided by Facebook Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. and selling access to those accounts. Iza obtained millions of dollars of unreported income as a result of these schemes. Separately, Iza engaged active Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) deputies to provide private security for him and caused the deputies, among other things, to obtain court-authorized search warrants and confidential law enforcement information targeting people with whom Iza had financial and personal disputes. At Iza's direction, Au created shell corporations and opened bank accounts in the names of those entities. She then used the illicit funds placed into those accounts to pay approximately $1 million to the deputies, mostly in cash, purchase or lease luxury real estate, cars, jewelry, and clothing, pay for recreational activity for Iza and herself valued at nearly $10 million, and acquire approximately $16 million in cryptocurrency for Iza. Au admitted in her plea agreement that she transferred more than $2.6 million from these various accounts to her personal bank accounts during the period 2020 through 2023, income that she willfully failed to report to the IRS on her federal tax returns. After pleading guilty, Iris Au will face up to three years in federal prison.
