MLS Season Pass explained – cost, coverage and Leagues Cup games
Major League Soccer, or MLS, is marking its 30th anniversary this year. Even before the arrival of a certain World Cup winner, the top division of men's football (or soccer, if you prefer) in the US had been growing in popularity and global recognition.
In addition to Inter Miami star Lionel Messi, the competition has also welcomed some well-known names from Premier League football over the years. David Beckham, Ashley Cole, Gareth Bale, Thierry Henry and Javier 'Chicarito' Hernández are also among those who've made the move in the past.
Former Crystal Palace star Christian Benteke is now DC United's captain, while Phil Neville is head coach at the Portland Timbers. And former Liverpool and Barcelona star Javier Mascherano is now in charge of Inter Miami.
While it may not have Premier League-style promotion and relegation (and the associated drama that comes with that), MLS awards the Supporters' Shield to the team with the best record overall from its 30 member clubs (San Diego FC are MLS newcomers this year).
The bulk of the season (aka the 'regular season') is played in two geographically defined leagues, the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. After that, a post-season playoff tournament takes place between the top nine teams from each Conference, culminating in the showpiece MLS Cup Final game.
The league's international broadcast reach expanded with a major new rights deal that saw the launch of the MLS Season Pass at the start of the 2023 campaign, as part of a decade-long deal with global streaming partner Apple TV+.
And you can even watch some games for free – here's how to tune in.
Sign up for MLS Season Pass with Apple TV
Apple is the primary global rights holder for all MLS coverage. The MLS Season Pass is the only way to watch every league match in a season, including the playoffs.
It carries all matches live or on-demand, although some will still be broadcast on selected linear TV rights holders. The 2025 season has seen the introduction of a new flagship broadcast, Sunday Night Soccer, a full live broadcast of one featured game.
UK night owls can catch these in the early hours of the morning, with most broadcasts starting at midnight.
Apple also promises "no blackouts" by location, where TV coverage in a local market is effectively blocked.
Although the FA does not allow live broadcasts of the Premier League and EFL's Saturday 3pm kick-offs, to encourage fans to go and watch their teams in person, this practice is more commonplace with sports events and leagues in the US, including the Indy 500, MLB and NBA.
In the affected local US markets, the block on coverage is usually only lifted when the event sells out or is close to capacity.
The MLS Season Pass monthly and annual prices vary, depending on where you are in the world and whether or not you're an existing Apple TV+ customer.
It's a completely separate service from Apple TV+ itself, although being a subscriber does get you a discount on the MLS Season Pass. There's more on Apple TV+ and how it works here (and if you're already subscribed, why not check out our pick of the best Apple TV+ movies?)
The price also comes down through the season. So if you're joining partway through, you won't have to pay the full subscription price, which sets it apart from some other sports streaming packages. at Apple TV+

In the UK, the MLS Season Pass costs £12.99/month, or £59 for the remainder of the season if you're an Apple TV+ customer. If you aren't an Apple TV+ customer, you'll pay £14.99/month or £69 for the remainder of the season.
Those in the US will pay $12.99/month or $59 for the rest of the season if they have Apple TV+. Customers without Apple TV+ will pay $14.99/month or $69 for the rest of the season.
Customers can use Apple's iCloud Family Sharing function to share their MLS Season Pass with up to five family members.
In terms of comprehensive coverage and a lack of local blackouts for customers in the US, as mentioned above – yes, it is.
However, as with other similar products such as F1 TV, MLB TV or the NBA League Pass, the MLS Season Pass is really aimed at soccer devotees who want to watch for all or part of a season and enjoy comprehensive, in-depth coverage of all things MLS.
If you don't know if the MLS is for you, we'd advise you to try out some of Apple's free coverage of the league to see if you like it. Those of you in the UK might need to stay up late for some of the upcoming free games, though.
Additionally, Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to watch Sunday Night Soccer games at no extra cost.
The MLS Season Pass also includes access to coverage of the Leagues Cup, an annual mid-season competition open to all clubs from the MLS and Mexico's top division of men's football, Liga MX.
Other competitions featured in the MLS Season Pass include the MLS Cup Playoffs and Campeones Cup games. Customers can also enjoy selected matches from MLS Next Pro, which sits at the third tier of the US men's soccer pyramid, and youth league MLS Next.
MLS Season Pass subscribers can also enjoy regular Match of the Day-style highlights programming and wrap-up shows in English or Spanish.
The MLS team also offers a programme called MLS 360, described as a "whip round" show in the vein of Soccer Saturday, and it launched a Spanish-language version in 2024 hosted by Tony Cherchi.
Commentary is also available in English or Spanish and, where Canadian teams are in action, in French.
In 2023, a 30-day free trial of the MLS Season Pass was made available to new and qualified returning subscribers who were happy to at least commit to a monthly subscription plan, had an Apple ID, and a valid payment method on file.
There isn't a free trial running as of May 2025. However, Apple TV+ members can watch the flagship Sunday Night Football broadcast at no extra cost each week, and those of you who aren't Apple TV+ subscribers can sample several games for no charge.
Some review and analysis content is also available for no additional cost, to try and encourage you to take out a subscription.

Adam Silver: NBA All-Star game will feature 'some form of USA against the world'
Adam Silver, seen here at the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend, announced that a new format will debut at next season's All-Star game. (Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images) NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirmed on Wednesday a new All-Star format that's been floated since the disaster that was February's All-Star game. Next season's game will feature a USA vs. the world format. Silver announced the decision while speaking on FS1's "Breakfast Ball." Advertisement The format will debut on NBC in the first season of the network's return to covering the NBA under the league's new media rights deal. It will take place during the Winter Olympics that will also air on NBC. "What better time to feature some form of USA against the world?" Silver said. Silver said that he's "not exactly sure what the format will be yet." He noted that he "paid a lot of attention to what the NHL did" during its All-Star break this season. The NHL scrapped its traditional All-Star format in February for a international tournament that was a big success among fans and players. It was held up in contrast to the debut NBA's four-team mini-tournament that drew widespread scorn alongside the coverage of the event.

Padres pulls off extremely rare MLB feat last seen in 2001 World Series
The post Padres pulls off extremely rare MLB feat last seen in 2001 World Series appeared first on ClutchPoints. The San Diego Padres rallied late to defeat the San Francisco Giants 3–2 in another extra-inning thriller, with momentum shifting in the ninth and tenth innings. In the previous game, San Diego secured a 1–0 victory, also in extra innings. With both wins, the Padres pulled off an extremely rare Major League Baseball feat not seen since the 2001 World Series. They became the first team since the Arizona Diamondbacks to win back-to-back road games despite being shut out through the first eight innings of both contests. San Francisco jumped ahead in the third inning. Patrick Bailey opened with a double, and after a strikeout, Heliot Ramos crushed a 421-foot two-run homer to center. The Giants nearly added to their lead when Wilmer Flores singled and Matt Chapman doubled. But a perfect relay from Fernando Tatis Jr. to Jake Cronenworth to Luis Campusano cut down Flores at the plate. Advertisement Giants starter Landen Roupp was outstanding. He pitched 6⅓ scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out five. Roupp threw 92 pitches, 63 for strikes, and maintained excellent control. Despite his dominance, the Giants' bullpen couldn't protect the lead. Jordan Hicks missed action due to a toe injury. San Diego capitalized late and flipped the outcome. The Padres stayed quiet until the ninth. With two outs, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Luis Arraez drew back-to-back walks off Giants closer Camilo Doval. Manny Machado, already 3-for-3, came up clutch again. He ripped a single to left, scoring both runners and tying the game at 2–2. The Giants couldn't answer in the bottom half, forcing extra innings. In the tenth, Jackson Merrill began on second base. Gavin Sheets popped out to second for the first out. Xander Bogaerts grounded out, moving Merrill to third. Then, with two outs, Jake Cronenworth hit a ground ball past first baseman Casey Schmitt, giving San Diego the lead. Christian Koss started on second for the Giants in the bottom of the tenth. Casey Schmitt's sacrifice bunt moved him to third. But Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada shut the door. He got Heliot Ramos and Jung Hoo Lee to ground out to shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who made clean throws to first both times. The Padres sealed the 3–2 win and completed a stunning back-to-back comeback. Advertisement Two nights, two comebacks, and a statement sent. If this stretch proves anything, it's that San Diego is a team built for the fight, and they're just getting started. Lynx star Napheesa Collier named West's best player for May
Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier continues to make her MVP case as the team remains unbeaten. The WNBA announced Wednesday that Collier is the Western Conference Player of the Month for May. The Lynx left the first month of the season without a loss, thanks in large part to Collier's contributions. She averaged 26.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.4 blocks in five games. On the season, Collier leads the WNBA in points per game (25.1) and win shares (2.0). The Lynx are a perfect 8-0, their best start since they won the WNBA Finals in 2017. This is the second award of the season for Collier, who won Western Conference Player of the Week after the first four games. Last season, Collier made the All-WNBA First Team and was named Defensive Player of the Year amid the Lynx's surprising but ultimately unavailing run to the WNBA Finals. She also won a gold medal with Team USA at the Summer Olympics. Since then, she's had a productive offseason. She was named the MVP of Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 basketball league she co-founded, and TIME magazine listed her among its 100 Most Influential People.
