Former Browns All-Pro RB Nick Chubb signs 1-year deal with Texans
Nick Chubb is now a member of the Houston Texans.
The former Cleveland Browns running back passed a physical on Monday and officially struck a deal to join the Texans, the team announced. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it's a one-year deal worth up to $5 million.

The Texans now provide a fresh start for Chubb after knee and foot injuries limited him to 10 games over the course of the prior two seasons.
Chubb suffered a devastating knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season that required multiple surgeries to repair a torn ACL, MCL, meniscus and medial capsule. The injury cost Chubb all but two games of the 2023 season and the first six games of the 2024 campaign.

Chubb returned to play eight games in 2024 before a broken foot suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs ended his season in Week 14. He hasn't played since.
Can Chubb return to form?
Chubb, 29, was in the prime of his career when he suffered his knee injury in 2023. He'd made the Pro Bowl after each of the previous four seasons and was named second-team All-Pro in 2022 as one of the NFL's most productive offensive players.

He was limited in his eight-game return in 2024, averaging 3.3 yards per carry for 332 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The production fell well short of his career averages of 5.1 yards per carry and 92.8 total yards from scrimmage per game.
Chubb will join a Texans offense helmed by third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud that Houston hopes can help improve on last season's 10-7 campaign that ended in a divisional-round playoff loss to the Chiefs.
Chubb will join a Texans backfield that already features Joe Mixon, who joined Houston on a three-year, $25 million contract from the Cincinnati Bengals last offseason. Mixon made his second career Pro Bowl in 2024 after tallying 1,325 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry.

The Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian high four-star is not the biggest quarterback in the world but that's what everyone said about Kyler Murray, Bryce Young and so many others. In today's game, quarterback height is less important than ever before. Houston is a playmaker and even if a camp setting isn't the best for him, the four-star still delivered in a major way. Over the last few days, Jarrard has visited Purdue, Notre Dame and Clemson and heading into the Atlanta camp he had received offers from Georgia and Ohio State as the 2027 four-star from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the entire country. The ball pops off Jarrard's hand. He has velocity, timing and everything else to back up all the attention he's received on the recruiting trail. The Atlanta Camp was loaded at quarterback and even though Jarrard didn't win the MVP award, he was definitely impressive and one of the best QBs at any Rivals regional camp. To beat out Teddy Jarrard, North Carolina commit Travis Burgess, Mississippi State pledge Brodie McWhorter and others for the MVP award, Johnson had a phenomenal performance at the Atlanta camp which was one of many this offseason. The 2027 four-star quarterback from Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes was sharp, showed off great arm talent, had a clean motion throughout the event and then seemed to get better and better throughout the camp. It was a close race at the top but Johnson edged out some other elite quarterbacks. The five-star quarterback was fantastic as always at the Los Angeles stop and what's even more impressive is that a camp setting is not where Lyons does his best work. The Folsom, Calif., standout sat in the pocket and zipped passes all over the field. He knows when to dial it back a little bit and has such an unreal feel for receivers and immediately having chemistry with them. Lyons is best when he can freelance a little bit, escape pressure and make magic happen and that's not a camp setting but he was still great. Oregon, BYU, Michigan and others continue after him. It's hard to believe that Wade is a 2028 prospect because he has all the tools and is physically developed enough that it wouldn't be a shock to anyone if he reclassified because he doesn't need three more high school seasons. He's now the guy at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy and he should shine because he is a special prospect who will clearly be under five-star consideration. Wade was arguably the best quarterback at the loaded Los Angeles event, which is always so deep at the position. Even still, the 2028 prospect stood out. He has the total package from decision-making to arm talent and beyond. Oregon, Texas and others have already made an impression.

Houston Texans sign former Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans have signed former Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb, the team announced on Monday. Chubb made four Pro Bowls in seven seasons with Cleveland, but was limited by injuries the past two years. He suffered a left knee injury in Week 2 at Pittsburgh in 2023 and remained sidelined until Week 7 in 2024. He then played in eight games before breaking his foot and finished with 332 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Chubb could join a backfield that features Joe Mixon. The two-time Pro Bowler had 1,016 yards in his first year with Houston after seven seasons in Cincinnati. The Texas won the AFC South at 10-7 before losing at Kansas City in the divisional round of the playoffs. The 29-year-old Chubb has run for 6,843 yards since the Browns selected him in the second round in the 2018 NFL draft. He is third on the team's career list behind Hall of Famers Jim Brown (12,312) and Leroy Kelly (7,274). Chubb rushed for 1,525 yards and 12 TDs in 2022. He has averaged 5.1 yards per carry during his seven seasons. ___
