Robert drives in 3 runs as the White Sox beat the Royals 7-2

Luis Robert Jr. drove in three runs in his return to the lineup, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 7-2 on Friday night. Mike Tauchman homered to help the last-place White Sox to their third win in four games. Davis Martin struck out seven while pitching six innings of two-run ball. White Sox catcher Kyle Teel, one of baseball's top prospects, went 1 for 2 with two walks and scored a run in his major league debut. Robert hit a tiebreaking two-run single in Chicago's five-run eighth inning. He also had a run-scoring single in the second. It was Robert's first game since Monday. The slumping slugger has been working on some adjustments at the plate, and he got an extra day after he was struck on his head by a ball in the batting cage. The White Sox beat the Royals for the second time in the last 20 matchups. Maikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino hit back-to-back homers for Kansas City with two out in the third inning. It was the seventh of the season for Garcia, and No. 9 for Pasquantino. Tauchman tied it at 2 when he connected against Seth Lugo in the fifth. The White Sox loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, and Robert drove in pinch-runner Michael A. Taylor and Austin Slater with a bloop single to right against Jonathan Bowlan (1-1). Teel scored on Taylor Clarke's wild pitch, and errors on third baseman Garcia and Clarke brought home two more runs. Jordan Leasure (1-4) pitched an inning for the win. Royals rookie Jac Caglianone went 0 for 4. He is 1 for 17 in his first four games. Leasure walked Jonathan India and Bobby Witt Jr. singled as Kansas City put the first two on in the eighth. Teel pounced on a bunt by Garcia and got the first out at third. Witt took third on a fielder's choice before Salvador Perez fouled out, ending the inning. The Royals swept a four-game home series with the White Sox from May 5-8 and outscored them 19-4. Chicago leads the all-time series 440-434. Royals right-hander Michael Wacha (3-4, 2.88 ERA) starts Saturday against White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser (1-1, 1.47 ERA).

Barger hits 2-run HR, Bichette has go-ahead 2-run single as Blue Jays beat Twins 6-4

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Addison Barger hit a two-run home run, Bo Bichette had a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins 6-4 on Friday night for their fifth straight victory. Trevor Larnach homered two batters into the first off rookie Paxton Schultz to give the Twins the lead and tie him for the team lead with 10. Kody Clemens had a run-scoring ground out and Christian Vázquez hit a two-out RBI double to make it 3-0 in the second. Bailey Ober hit Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a pitch to begin the fourth and then gave up his first hit when Barger homered to right field to get Toronto to 3-2. Five of Barger's seven homers have come in his last seven games. Ernie Clement singled leading off the fifth and Andrés Giménez doubled before Bichette blooped a single to center for a 4-3 lead. George Springer hit his ninth home run — a solo shot off Mason Fluharty to make it 5-3 in the sixth. Guerrero doubled leading off the eighth and scored on Alejandro Kirk's single for a 6-3 lead. Ober (4-2) retired the first eight Blue Jays before walking Andrés Giménez on a full count. He allowed five runs and five hits in seven innings. Eric Lauer (2-1) replaced Schultz to begin the third and allowed a hit in 2 1/3 scoreless innings to get the win. Fluharty and Yariel Rodríguez both got four outs, and Jeff Hoffman pitched the ninth for his 14th save in 17 opportunities. Royce Lewis went 3 for 3 for Minnesota, which was coming off a 5-5 road trip. Key moment Lewis had a two-out RBI single in the home eighth off Brendan Little to get the Twins within two runs, but Little left the tying runs stranded when Clemens grounded out. Key stat Toronto is 236-193 all time against Minnesota, but the Twins have won the season series in six of the last seven years. Up next Blue Jays RHP Kevin Gausman (5-4, 3.82 ERA) starts Saturday against Twins RHP Chris Paddack (2-5, 3.58). ___ AP MLB:

Nick Gonzales' sacrifice fly lifts Pirates to win over Phillies

Adam Frazier had three hits and scored the winning run on Nick Gonzales's sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, helping the Pittsburgh Pirates rally for a 5-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. David Bednar (1-4) struck out the side in the ninth for the Pirates. Frazier and Jared Triolo started the ninth with singles off Jordan Romano (0-3). Isiah Kiner-Falefa loaded the bases with a bunt before Oneil Cruz struck out looking. Gonzales then lifted a 2-2 slider to the warning track, allowing Frazier to score. Trea Turner gave Philadelphia an early lead, getting on with a single for his first of three hits and taking third on a double steal in the first before scoring on a grounder from Nick Castellanos. The Pirates' Bryan Reynolds hit an RBI single the next inning. Turner hit a double to right and Alec Bohm brought him in with a single to left, putting the Phillies back ahead 2-1 in the third. Reynolds tied it again with his eighth home run of the season into the left-field bleachers. Turner drove in two with a two-out single for a 4-2 lead in the fourth. Henry Davis answered with a two-run homer the same inning. Matt Strahm struck out the side for the Phillies in the eighth. Bednar immediately matched him in the ninth, capped by getting Turner to whiff on a curveball in the dirt. Pirates starter Bailey Falter allowed four runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. Chase Shugart, Caleb Ferguson, Dennis Santana and Bednar combined to give up two hits and one walk with eight strikeouts the rest of the way. Endy Rodríguez left due to right elbow discomfort and continues to be evaluated, the Pirates said. LHP Ranger Suárez (4-0, 2.72 ERA) will take the mound for the Phillies on Saturday opposite Pirates LHP Andrew Heaney (3-4, 3.39).
