Dy CM Samrat Choudhary calls Lalu Yadav 'Gabbar of Bihar' in poll-bound state
Speaking at the public gathering, Dy CM Choudhary said, '1.5 crore people left Bihar because of the fear of Lalu Prasad Yadav. He is the Gabbar of Bihar, who did the work of scaring everyone. Be it any community, upper or backwards class, the one person who scared everyone was Lalu Prasad Yadav. Now we need to change this because Bihar needs to be taken forward.'
Taking a dig at the fodder scam case involving the RJD patriarch, Choudhary said, 'You want to hand over power again to someone who was jailed for eating the fodder meant for cattle? That is not the Bihar we want anymore.'
Drawing a comparison between Bihar and Jharkhand, Choudhary noted that while Jharkhand has a budget of Rs 1.40 lakh crore, Bihar, under the leadership of the NDA, has a significantly higher budget of Rs 3.17 lakh crore.
'Bihar is transforming under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Guided by the dream of Emperor Ashoka, we are moving towards the goal of an 'Akhand Bharat',' he said.
He asserted that law and order in Bihar has significantly improved, with the police actively working to free the state from crime. 'No matter what caste, religion or background -- a criminal is a criminal. Whether it's a land mafia or a local goon, they will not be spared,' he added.
The Dy CM added, 'It's a clear message: if any criminal tries to harm you, then do not hold yourself because a criminal never belongs to any caste or religion. No one should escape because if he does, then after some time, the person will come asking for MLA MP tickets or will buy the ticket.'
Choudhary urged the people of Bihar to protect the state's political integrity and ensure that its future aligns with the development dream envisioned by Emperor Ashoka. 'Let us not allow those who once looted Bihar to return.
Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date.
While the NDA, consisting of the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again be looking to continue their stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, consisting of the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will be looking to unseat Nitish Kumar.
In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of two Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc has a strength of 111 members with RJD leading with 77 MLAs, Congress-19, CPI(ML)-11, CPI(M)-2 and CPI-2. (ANI)

Endowments Dept to get 9% of TTD's Common Good Fund
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the Endowments Department have agreed to increase the contribution from the Common Good Fund (CGF) to the Endowments Department from the existing five per cent to nine per cent towards strengthening temple infrastructure and increasing priest welfare across the State. This decision was taken during a high-level meeting held at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala on Saturday. The meeting was convened following the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who wanted certain issues that had come to the fore in recent times to be resolved. Senior officials discussed at length the facilities that need to be improved across temples in the state, including Tirumala, and addressed pending matters between the Endowments department and the TTD. The meeting was attended by Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, TTD Chairman BR Naidu, TTD Executive Officer J Syamala Rao, Endowments Secretary V Vinay Chand, TTD Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, JEO V Veerabrahmam, and other officials from TTD and the Endowments Department. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Anam stated that under the Endowments Act, there were provisions requiring the TTD to contribute up to nine per cent of its funds to the Common Good Fund. Until now, this contribution has been only five per cent. The board has decided to increase it in line with the provision. Anam explained that the state government, in keeping with its manifesto promise, wanted to provide financial support to unemployed priests across the State. As many as 590 unemployed Vedic scholars had been identified, and the government had decided to provide them with a monthly honorarium of Rs 3,000, he said. On temple renovation, he said that Rs 147 crore had previously been sanctioned from the Srivani Trust funds for the reconstruction of temples across the state. However, that amount has remained unused. An additional Rs 11 crore was due to be released from the same trust. The board and officials discussed these pending amounts and agreed to take appropriate decisions soon.

Nearly 1.27 crore women in Madhya Pradesh who are beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna scheme will receive Rs 250 as a Rakhi gift, and their monthly assistance will be hiked to Rs 1,500 from October, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said. Currently, eligible women receive Rs 1,250 per month under the scheme. "The Raksha Bandhan festival symbolises the unbreakable bond of love between a brother and Rakhi (festival) on August 9, it is only fitting for brothers to offer gifts to their sisters. The government was committed to gradually increasing the monthly assistance under the Ladli Behna scheme to Rs 3,000, the chief minister further said. During the event, Yadav transferred Rs 1,543.16 crore to bank accounts of 1.27 crore Ladli Behna scheme beneficiaries as the 26th instalment. While launching the scheme on June 10, 2023, under which women were given Rs 1,000 per month, then chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that with hikes of Rs 250, the amount will be gradually raised to Rs 3,000 per month. The scheme proved to be a game-changer for the ruling BJP which routed Congress in the November 2023 assembly polls. At the event, CM Yadav also transferred Rs 46.34 crore in subsidy for LPG refills to more than 30 lakh women under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana . In addition, Rs 340 crore was credited to 56.74 lakh social security pension beneficiaries.
