Selangor MB urges probe into claims of immoral activities at family motivation programme
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the matter should be taken seriously and strict action should be taken if the allegations are found to be true after a thorough investigation.
"The report has just been received. I have asked JAIS to investigate and take strict action because it was organised privately in the hall, not related to the state government.
"However, I am concerned with what was revealed; we need to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against anyone involved," he said when met after officiating the Turath Islami 2025 Festival here today.
Asked if the convention centre management would be called to provide an explanation on the matter, Amirudin said it would first be submitted to the authorities for investigation.
Yesterday, Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee was reported to have said his party would investigate the organisation of a marriage motivation programme at a convention centre here in September last year, which was linked to indecent acts and idolatry. — BERNAMA

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari promises to look into the issue of the state outsourcing parking fee collection for four local authorities. 'I will look into this again since the issue has been brought up,' he said during a press conference at a Selangor Platform strategic partners appreciation ceremony at the Selangor state secretariat building in Shah Alam Tuesday (July 15). He said the comments made by Selangor local government and tourism committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim on the privatisation of the parking issue were accurate. It was previously reported that Ng said the state government was moving towards a Selangor Intelligent Parking (SIP) initiative to ensure that the management and maintenance of on-street parking in Selangor was modernised and equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Amirudin said the state received 26 Requests for Proposal and Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) had the interest of Selangor in mind with regard to the parking matter. 'We do not want to award it to just any party,' he said. He added that the new party would be investing between RM200mil and RM300mil to improve parking facilities, including installing of closed-circuit television cameras. Amirudin said enforcement would be conducted by the respective local authorities. 'Before this, we had private companies where some were effective in collecting parking fees while others were not,' he said, adding that MBI would monitor the new party.

[UPDATED] eHati founders detained after giving police statements
KUALA LUMPUR: eHati International Sdn Bhd founders Diyana Tahir and Rahim Shukor were detained by the police today after giving their statements at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters. Their lawyer, Datuk M Reza Hassan, confirmed the matter, saying that their client was detained by Shah Alam district police after providing their statements at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters. He said their clients were detained under sections 294 (obscene songs) and 509 (Word or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a person) of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act. The New Straits Times has since reached out to police for confirmation of their arrests. Yesterday, it was reported that police will summon all participants of the recent eHati marriage motivation programme to have their statements recorded. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations were launched after an investigation paper was opened into the case. Hussein said more detailed investigations were needed to ascertain if there were obscene elements or teachings that deviated from societal norms, as has been alleged. Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had asked the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to look into allegations of immoral activities occurring during the organisation of eHati programmes at a convention centre.

JAIS to call new witnesses in eHati probe tomorrow - Mohd Na'im
KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will call two new witnesses tomorrow as part of its investigation into the eHati marriage programme, which has been linked to alleged immoral activities and questionable religious practices. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, confirmed the investigation is being conducted under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995. 'The investigation has begun, and we hope the witnesses will cooperate tomorrow,' he said after officiating the pre-launch of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Mohd Na'im revealed that two women initially lodged a complaint with JAIS but later appeared hesitant to provide further details. 'I urge them to clarify their statements so the truth can be uncovered,' he said. He stressed the importance of witness cooperation to ensure a fair and professional investigation. The eHati programme, reportedly organised by a married couple, has sparked public concern after social media posts alleged participants engaged in nude dancing and consumed unknown substances leading to emotional changes.
