Eagles Young Star Sounds Off On New Mindset in Fanbase originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
In the 1970s, Philadelphia Eagles fans developed a reputation. .. One that legendary NFL commentator John Facenda framed perfectly.

"A true Philadelphia fan learns to boo before he learns to speak."
At the time, the Eagles were one of the worst teams in football; the boos felt largely appropriate.
Things have changed, though. Philadelphia has won two Super Bowl titles in the last 10 years while also reaching a third.
Does that improved success mean Eagle fans will be kinder and gentler to their team?
Not quite.
All that has changed are the expectations that have been heightened.
'It's crazy,' Cooper DeJean said. 'Everybody in this city loves Eagles football. And you can tell that, especially after you win a championship. Going into next season, they're going to expect that same thing again.

"You gotta find a way to put that behind you and get back to work and try to do it all over again the next season, because once that next season comes around and that first game hits, I don't think anybody's really going to be remembering what we did last season, that Super Bowl."
That's a smart way for the team to approach 2025.
And for the fans?
It's hard to argue with you and your mindset. Your team has become one of the best in the league, and that comes with a mentality of always wanting more championships.
Does it mean Philadelphia has become spoiled? Sure. But it has worked for the city for years now. ... turning boos into cheers.

WWE's 'The Miz' suggests Chiefs star for American Gladiators, talks Browns fandom

WWE's 'The Miz' suggests Chiefs star for American Gladiators, talks Browns fandom This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin about his participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 9-13 at Edgewood Tahoe, his earliest memory of the Cleveland Browns fandom, and hosting the upcoming American Gladiators reboot while name dropping Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce as an ideal Gladiator. The Kelce brothers are confirmed to be Miz's competition again this year, as he will seek a better finish than last year's tournament. Miz is an Ohio native and a die-hard Browns fan, having witnessed the franchise's ups and downs. Cleveland's last divisional round postseason appearance was against Kansas City in 2020, when they lost at Arrowhead Stadium 17-22. He recalled his earliest memory of the team as a child attending school, singing about their quarterback, Bernie Kosar. "I believe I was in, like, fifth grade, and I was going to school in the bus, and we were just singing, Bernie, Bernie, oh baby Super Bowl," said Miz, "So, yeah, I remember that verbatim, and I also remember us not making it to the Super Bowl. I believe that year was either the fumble or the drive. I'm not sure which one, but those are the two things that really screwed us." The former WWE champion was recently named host of the upcoming reboot of American Gladiators on Prime Video. "I can't wait. I think, with this show, we're gonna, you know, give a nod to what, what American Gladiators was in the past, and elevate it and put it, you know, with 100% and go literally, ball to the wall, if you will." said Miz, "I mean, American Gladiators is a staple, and now to be the host of American Gladiators. It's an absolute honor, and I take it very, very seriously. I want to make sure that this show is everything people imagine it to be and more, and it will be. I can't wait for people to meet the Gladiators. I can't wait for people to see the events, and I can't wait for people to see me as the host." During a recent appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Miz suggested that Chiefs star Travis Kelce would make a great addition to the show as a Gladiator. "I'm gonna go with two tight ends. I'm gonna go, George Kittle, I'm gonna go with Travis Kelce, because of personality," said Miz during the broadcast, "A Gladiator has to have a great personality, and got to be out there, not only do that be physically dominating but they got to be someone, either you're root for, or you're gonna boo kind of like a WWE superstar." The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC, along with a first-place prize of $150,000, makes the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in the golf world.

WNBA Makes Announcement on Kate Martin's Teammate After Blowout Win

WNBA Makes Announcement on Kate Martin's Teammate After Blowout Win originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Golden State Valkyries may be a WNBA expansion team, but they have been fairly competitive to start this season. Advertisement On Saturday, they took on the Las Vegas Aces, one of the better teams in the league. They managed to prevail by a wide margin thanks to a strong second quarter in which they outscored Las Vegas, 34-15. They never looked back, and they gained a 95-68 win that improved their record to 3-5. A big factor in this win was the play of veteran forward Kayla Thornton, who had a career-best effort in this contest. She had a career-high 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range, plus 11 rebounds in the victory. Thornton spent the last two seasons with the New York Liberty, where she picked up a championship ring. Prior to this season, she had averaged double figures in scoring just once. Advertisement They had won the title in 2022 and 2023, but last year, they lost in the semifinals to the eventual champion Liberty. Even after trading away star guard Kelsey Plum during the offseason, they came into Saturday's matchup against the Valkyries with a 4-2 record. The Valkyries had lost four games in a row coming into Saturday, but they're now 1-2 in Commissioner's Cup play. They will visit the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday before hosting the Seattle Storm next Saturday, June 14. Two former Wisconsin Badgers land on PFF's list of the NFL's top guards for 2025

Two former Wisconsin Badgers land on PFF's list of the NFL's top guards for 2025 A pair of former Wisconsin Badgers appeared on ProFootballFocus' recent list of the NFL's top 32 guards entering the 2025 season. Detroit Lions right guard Kevin Zeitler, a three-year Badger from 2009-11, and Buffalo Bills left guard David Edwards, who represented the Badgers from 2015-18, earned designations on the outlet's 32-man hierarchy. Zeitler, a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, landed at No. 9 on the list between Los Angeles Rams guard Kevin Dotson (No. 8) and San Francisco 49ers run-blocker Dominick Puni. The former Badger signed with the Detroit Lions ahead of the 2024 slate following his 2023 Pro Bowl campaign with the Baltimore Ravens. He's now entering his 14th professional campaign. In offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's scheme, Zeitler helped the Lions rush 534 times for 2,488 yards and 29 scores with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs starring in the backfield. Zeitler started at right guard in all 16 of his appearances. Despite being one of the older players at his position, Zeitler is about as effective as anyone not named Joe Thuney, Chris Lindstrom, or Quenton Nelson. Here's PFF's analysis: "Although Zeitler enters 2025 at age 35, he continues to prove he isn't slowing down. In his lone season in Detroit, Zeitler earned his highest PFF overall grade (86.5) in a decade, finishing as the NFL's third-highest-graded guard. While his pass protection dipped a bit in 2024, his 87.2 PFF run-blocking grade stands as the best of his career." Meanwhile, PFF ranked Edwards down at No. 29. The 2019 First-team All-Big Ten team member has played six professional seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. Shortly after winning a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021, the lineman joined the Bills in 2023 as a backup before starting all 16 games during the 2024 campaign. With reigning MVP Josh Allen and dynamic rusher James Cook as primary ball-carriers, the Bills rushed for 2,230 yards and a league-best 32 touchdowns a season ago. Here's what PFF said about Edwards ahead of his third season in Buffalo: "2024 marked Edwards' first season in a starting role since 2021. He earned solid PFF overall grades, but really stood out as a zone blocker, recording a 78.1 PFF run-blocking grade on zone concepts — good for the 93rd percentile and the fifth-highest mark among qualifying guards." Zeitler's Lions will square off against the Packers on Sept. 7 to begin the season, while Edwards' Bills will play the Ravens the same day, beginning their quest for a second straight AFC Championship game appearance.
