Vietrade, Amazon join hands to elevate national brands globally
The programme aims at supporting 1,000 enterprises and 30 Vietnamese brands in expanding their export activities through e-commerce by 2027.
A partnership by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and Amazon Global Selling Vietnam recently launched the 'V-Brands Go Global with Amazon' initiative, aimed at backing 1,000 enterprises and 30 Vietnamese brands in expanding export activities through e-commerce by 2027. Its two phases will be training 1,000 businesses in online export skills, and organising on-site events in cities and provinces.
The cooperation will be implemented in two phases: training 1,000 businesses in online export skills through 20 specialised courses, and organising a series of on-site events in cities and provinces like Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong. These events will guide manufacturers in shifting towards a global branding model, a domestic news outlet reported.
Over three-fifths of the products sold on the Amazon platform now come from third-party sellers, including thousands of Vietnamese businesses. Over the past five years, the number of Vietnamese products sold on Amazon has increased by more than 300 per cent.
Amazon Global Selling will focus on four key areas this year: promoting online exports, developing industry ecosystems, enhancing logistics capabilities and training seller partners.
It simultaneously plans to support major industrial clusters in the northern and southern parts of the country.

Retail giant Target's board of directors has appointed a new chief executive office, the company said on Wednesday. Target CEO Brian Cornell is stepping down after 11 years at the retailer at a time when the company is facing a slump in sales and backlash to its retreat on DEI. Cornell helped reenergize the company but has struggled to turn around weak sales in a more competitive retail landscape since the COVID pandemic, as per AP. Michael Fiddelke, Target's current chief operating officer, will succeed Brian Cornell as chief executive officer, the company said in a release.
