Ashadha Navratri 2025: Significance
Navratri is considered the most sacred time for worshipping Maa Durga continuously, both day and night. Throughout the Navratri festival, Maa Durga is honored for nine long days and nights. Devotees offer prayers to Durga Mata, seeking the blessings of the Goddess during this period. Gupt Navratri occurs twice a year in the months of Magha and Ashadha, while the main Navratri festival is celebrated during Kartik and Chaitra Month.
During Gupt Navratri, the nine forms of Mahavidhya are worshipped with immense devotion and purity. Although Gupt Navratri is not widely recognized, it is regarded as the most powerful time for individuals who engage in Mantra and Tantra Sadhana, making it an exceptionally potent period for invoking Goddess Durga. Practitioners adhere to various puja rituals, including performing hawan, observing fasts, and refraining from food and water for nine consecutive days to honor and please the Goddess.

When Is Sharad Navratri? Make These Classic Recipes For Fasting
Navratri is a popular festival in India celebrated with great enthusiasm. Although Navratri occurs four times a year, two of them are Gupt Navratri. Of these, Chaitra Navratri and Sharad Navratri hold special significance. This holy festival is celebrated for nine days, during which nine different forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. In 2025, Sharad Navratri will begin on 22 September and end on 1 October. Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, will be celebrated on 2 October. During these nine days, devotees of Goddess Durga observe fasts and worship with deep devotion, believing that it fulfils their wishes. Those who fast follow a satvik diet, avoiding garlic, onion, pulses, and regular salt. Instead, they consume foods prepared with rock salt (sendha namak) and other vrat-friendly ingredients. Auspicious Time for Ghatasthapana This year, Sharad Navratri begins on 22 September. The auspicious timings for Ghatasthapana are as follows: Ashwina Ghatasthapana: Monday, 22 September 2025 Ghatasthapana Muhurat: 06:09 AM to 08:06 AM (Duration - 1 hour 56 minutes) Ghatasthapana Abhijit Muhurat: 11:49 AM to 12:38 PM (Duration - 49 minutes) Pratipada Tithi Begins: 01:23 AM, 22 September 2025 Pratipada Tithi Ends: 02:55 AM, 23 September 2025 Kanya Lagna: 06:09 AM to 08:06 AM, 22 September 2025 Source: Significance of Sharad Navratri In Hinduism, Navratri holds immense spiritual importance. Devotees believe that during these nine days, Goddess Durga resides on Earth to bless her worshippers. Rituals begin with waking up early, cleaning the home, taking a bath, and performing Ghatasthapana before worshipping Goddess Durga with full faith. Some devotees fast for all nine days, while others fast only on the first and last day, following all other rituals in between. During Navratri, most people avoid non-vegetarian food and alcohol, even if they are not fasting, and stick to a vegetarian diet symbolising purity. Some observe a nirjala vrat (without food or water), though this is not recommended for pregnant women, the elderly, or children. Raksha Bandhan 2025: Avoid Rahukaal While Tying Rakhi, Know The Auspicious Time
Raksha Bandhan 2025 Shubh Muhurat: The festival of Raksha Bandhan, symbolising the deep bond of love and protection between brothers and sisters, will be celebrated on Saturday, 9 August 2025, coinciding with the full moon (Purnima) of the Shravan month. On this special day, sisters tie the sacred Rakhi thread on their brothers' wrists, praying for their long life, happiness, and prosperity. However, following Sanatan Dharma traditions, it is important to consider auspicious (shubh) and inauspicious (ashubh) timings before performing any significant ritual, including Rakhi tying. Avoid Tying Rakhi During Rahukaal Astrologers warn that although this year's Raksha Bandhan is free from the inauspicious Bhadra period, it is not completely free from obstacles. The timing of Rahukaal, an inauspicious period in Vedic astrology, falls on the same day and must be carefully avoided. Rahukaal Timing (Delhi): 09:07 AM to 10:47 AM According to astrological beliefs, performing any auspicious activity during Rahukaal can lead to hindrances or negative outcomes. Therefore, sisters are advised not to tie Rakhi during this 1-hour and 40-minute window. Best Time to Tie Rakhi: Abhijit Muhurat To ensure success and positivity, experts recommend tying the Rakhi during the Abhijit Muhurat, considered highly auspicious in Vedic astrology. Abhijit Muhurat (Delhi): 12:00 PM to 12:53 PM This 53-minute window is regarded as the most favourable time for performing sacred rituals, including Rakhi tying. What is Rahukaal? As explained by Professor Ramraj Upadhyay, Head of the Department of Priesthood at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, New Delhi, Rahu is a shadow planet in astrology. Its influence is considered harmful for starting any good or spiritual work. Rahukaal lasts for approximately 1.5 hours every day. Its timing varies depending on the day of the week and sunrise. Activities to Avoid During Rahukaal: 1. Marriage, engagement, or Rakhi tying 2. Launching a business or important career task 3. Beginning new journeys 4. Major financial transactions 5. Buying/selling property, vehicles, or assets
