The contract is for 10 years, with an option for a further five years.
Selmax will be responsible for deploying, managing and operating all gazetted car park spaces under MBSJ's jurisdiction.
The company will work alongside Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), which has been appointed as the SIP system provider under the same arrangement.

Trump demands CEO of US chip maker Intel resign 'immediately'
WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump demanded Thursday that the new boss of US chip maker Intel resign "immediately," after a Republican senator raised national security concerns over his links to firms in China. "The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem," Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, a day after Senator Tom Cotton said he had written to Intel questioning Lip-Bu Tan's connections to firms in China. In a statement issued Thursday, Tan said the company was "engaged with the Trump administration to address the concerns raised and ensure officials "have the facts." Intel is one of Silicon Valley's most iconic companies, but its fortunes have been dwarfed by Asian powerhouses TSMC and Samsung, which dominate the made-to-order semiconductor business. In Cotton's letter, posted on his website, the senator alleged Tan controls dozens of Chinese companies and holds stakes in hundreds of Chinese advanced manufacturing and chip firms. "At least eight of these companies reportedly have ties to the Chinese People's Liberation Army," Cotton wrote. The Republican Senator also noted Tan's role as the previous head of Cadence Design Systems, which he said recently "pleaded guilty to illegally selling its products to a Chinese military university." Cotton said while serving in that role, Tan transferred "its technology to an associated Chinese semiconductor company without obtaining licenses." In a statement, Tan said there has been "a lot of misinformation circulating" about his past roles at Walden International and Cadence Design Systems. "I want to be absolutely clear: Over 40+ years in the industry, I've built relationships around the world and across our diverse ecosystem," Tan said. "And I have always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards." He stressed that the United States has been his home for over 40 years and that he is "profoundly grateful for the opportunities it has given me." He added that he fully shares Trump's commitment to "advancing US national and economic security" and is proud to lead a company "so central to these goals." The Malaysia-born tech industry veteran took the helm at struggling Intel in March, announcing layoffs as White House tariffs and export restrictions muddied the market. He has previously said it "won't be easy" to overcome challenges faced by the company. The company was also caught by surprise with the emergence of Nvidia as the world's preeminent AI chip provider. Intel's niche has been chips used in traditional computing processes, which steadily being eclipsed by the AI revolution.

Itmax poised for more smart parking wins in Johor, Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR: Itmax System Bhd is expected to strengthen its position in Malaysia's smart parking market, with HLIB Research forecasting additional contract wins in both Johor and Selangor in the coming months. This follows Itmax's latest appointment to operate the Selangor intelligent parking (SIP) system and manage parking compounds for Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) under a 10-year contract, extendable by five years. The latest job win marks the group's second smart parking deal in Selangor, adding 50,000 operational bays and bringing its total in the state to approximately 100,000. HLIB Research said MBSA manages about 80,000 gazetted parking bays, though only about 50,000 are currently operational. The firm said its back-of-the-envelope estimates suggest this region could contribute around RM4.1 million to the group's bottom line. HLIB Research said Itmax has secured seven out of 16 councils in Johor for smart parking so far. "We believe the group is well-positioned to progressively secure additional councils, particularly with Johor's push for a single system policy, which requires one vendor to manage CCTV, smart traffic lights and smart parking - ensuring streamlined operations across the state. "In Selangor, we understand that Rantaian Mesra was appointed by Menteri Besar Incorporation to spearhead the first phase of the SIP, covering MBSJ, MBSA, MPS and MBPJ," it said. The firm added that MPS and MBPJ have yet to appoint an operator for SIP and securing these regions would be significant to Itmax, given the sizeable earnings potential, with Selangor boasting an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 gazetted parking spaces HLIB Research kept its "Buy" call on Itmax with a target price of RM5.17, which factors in a weighted average cost of capital (WACC) of 7.2 per cent and a terminal growth rate of 3.0 per cent. "Our terminal growth assumption reflects the long runway for CCTV deployment across Malaysia, supported by the national digitalisation and smart city initiatives," the firm added. HLIB Research said Itmax's current rollout of 10,000 CCTV units for DBKL is dwarfed by Singapore's 90,000, with Singapore targeting 200,000 units by 2030.

SD Guthrie's 2H profit outlook brightened by RM500mil land disposal gains
KUALA LUMPUR: SD Guthrie Bhd is poised for a stronger headline profits in the second half of 2025 (2H25), lifted by RM500 million land disposal gains, said Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB). Its senior analyst Ong Chee Ting said the potential gains is expected to lift earnings despite weaker plantation performance on lower average selling prices (ASPs). He said the group's second quarter FY25 core profit after tax and minority interests (Patmi) once again beat market expectations, largely driven by higher-than-expected ASPs supported by forward sales earlier in the year. SD Guthrie posted a core Patmi of RM466 million for the quarter, up 16 per cent on yearly basis but down 14 per cent from the first quarter. This brings the first half core Patmi to RM1.01 billion, a 61 per cent jump from the same period last year and equivalent to 61 per cent of Maybank IB's and 58 per cent of consensus full-year estimates. Tan said SD Guthrie maintained its full-year fresh fruit bunches growth guidance at 3-5 per cent, with Maybank IB forecasting the upper end at five per cent. Meanwhile first half output, up three per cent, represented 46 per cent of FY25 estimates. On pricing strategy, the group has limited forward sales for the rest of the financial year, averaging around RM4,100 per tonne. Despite guiding for a stable full-year unit cost of RM2,500 per tonne, SD Guthrie expects improving yields to lower second half of the year's (2H25) cost below the RM2,600 per tonne recorded in 1H25. "Following the strong set of results, we raise our financial year 2025 (FY25) core Patmi by six per cent mainly on higher upstream contribution on higher crude palm oil ASP while trimming downstream earnings. "Our FY26-FY27 core Patmi estimates are kept broadly unchanged. Our earnings forecasts have yet to factor in potential land sales gains in 2H25," Tan added. The firm kept its "Buy" call on SD Guthrie with a higher target price of RM5.64.
