One dead after rollover crash on I-93 in New Hampshire
A 26-year-old New Hampshire man is dead after a rollover crash on I-93 Tuesday night.
Around 6:16 p.m. New Hampshire State Troopers responded to a crash on I-93 just south of Exit 40. Responding troopers found a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue with extensive damage.
An initial investigation determined the Oldsmobile driver was traveling south on I-93 when the vehicle left the road and crossed into the median where it rolled over several times, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The Oldsmobile driver, Thomas Oakes, 26, of Bethlehem, was thrown from the car during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two children injured after being hit by car in Woburn, police say
Two children were struck by a car while riding a bike in Woburn on Tuesday. According to police, the collision occurred around 5:15 p.m. in the area of Cambridge Road and Sylvanus Wood Lane. Witnesses reportedly told arriving officers one of the children was operating the bike while the second one was standing on pegs in the back. The juvenile bicyclist took a wide left turn onto Cambridge Road when they were hit head-on by a vehicle, according to police. Both children were taken to an area hospital with minor injures. Severity of damage to Karen Read's taillight comes into question during testimony of Dighton officer
Fireworks on the stand during the retrial of Karen Read after a Dighton Police officer testified Read's taillight wasn't damaged that bad before it was seized by Massachusetts State Police troopers. Dighton Police Sergeant Nicholas Barros said Read's taillight had damage, but not to the extent of what pictures presented in court showed. 'That was the black Lexus,' he said. 'That was not the taillight the day I was there.' Barros described seeing a hole about the size of a dollar bill before State Troopers seized the Lexus from Read's parents Dighton home. 'Did you see anybody from the State Police in any way tamper with that vehicle?' Special Prosecutor Hank Brennan asked on cross. 'I did not,' Barros replied. Barros appeared confident with his memory until Brennan began peppering him with questions. 'Would be fair to say, based on all the additional information you've read and seen, had some effect on your memory?' Brennan questioned. 'I guess,' Barros said. 'His testimony hasn't changed,' Karen Read said outside court. 'He was subpoenaed by the prosecution and said it was damaged and not completely broken a year ago and then he said that again today.' More fireworks during the testimony of the defense's dog bite expert Dr. Marie Russel, when Read's lawyer Robert Alessi demanded a mistrial over the prosecutor's questioning. Alessi argued that Brennan brought up the absence of dog DNA on O'Keefe's clothing when it wasn't in evidence. Brennan pushed back. 'It might be hurtful for the defendant's theories, for the creation they portrayed, for this jury yesterday,' he said. 'But it is not improper.' Judge Beverly Cannone sided with Brennan and rejected the mistrial request. Russell was asked about statements Read has made about a possible collision with O'Keefe. Russell said people suffer something called 'acute grief reaction,' where they blame themselves when bad things happen. Outside of court, Read was asked if she will take the stand. ICE detention of Chelsea High students adds to escalating tensions over immigration enforcement
The recent ICE detention of Milford High junior Marcelo Gomes Da Silva is revealing more accounts of youth being apprehended by federal immigration authorities. Chelsea Superintendent Almi Abeyta confirmed to Boston 25 News that two students were detained by ICE several weeks ago. She said it happened off school property after school officials reported an incident on school grounds allegedly involving a knife to local police. According to Abeyta, another student was recently taken into ICE custody following a separate, unrelated incident off school grounds. 'It's completely inhumane to detain youth, who have no rights in this country, and ship them off to foreign countries that they've never been in,' said Alex Train, chief operating officer at La Colaborativa. Train told Boston 25 News he believes the detainment of minors is sending a negative message to the community. 'We've had students from Chelsea High School detained as they've been walking to school in the morning,' he said. 'Residents are no longer comfortable calling the police to report a crime or communicating with the police.' He fears that strain is going to have cascading impacts on public safety in the months ahead. 'This summer we're bracing for a major uptick in crime,' he added. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said 790 out of the 1,461 people arrested in Massachusetts in May had criminal records or pending charges. Some Republican lawmakers have praised the ongoing efforts in Massachusetts. ICE director Todd Lyons vowed to continue coming back to the state in a news conference on Monday. He condemned those who have been interfering with ICE arrests while defending the masks that agents wear. 'People are out there taking photos of the names and faces and posting them online with death threats,' said Lyons of threats being made towards federal agents and officers in the line of duty. The LUCE Immigration Justice Network said it plans to continue training volunteers to verify and document the presence of ICE agents in cities and towns. 'They're doing it all with masks and ginormous guns and in full military gear,' said Jaya Savita, with the LUCE Immigration Justice Network steering committee. 'You tell me who's scary and who's the one who's facing threats and who are the victims in this situation.' Gov. Maura Healey has called for the agency to release more information about the arrests being made. Healey released the following statement on Tuesday regarding the detention of Gomes Da Silva. 'This weekend, ICE arrested a high school honors student in Milford while he was driving to volleyball practice,' Healey said. 'He has lived and gone to school in the community since he was five years old. Yesterday, ICE admitted he was not the target, had no criminal record and did not pose a danger to the community.
