South Sudan make wholesale changes for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
Coach Nicolas Dupuis has dropped 16 players from the squad that completed the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last November with a 3-2 home win over Congo, followed by a 3-0 defeat in South Africa.
The coach has selected significantly more locally-based players, saying more talent had come to the fore since the establishment of the South Sudan Premier League, which has enhanced the development of homegrown players.
Dupuis added that a solid foundation of locally based players is crucial for building a stronger team.
South Sudan have drawn two and lost two of their opening four qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in North America and have two difficult away games this month, in Kinshasa on March 21 and the meeting neighbours Sudan in Benghazi, Libya four days later.
From the starting line-up beaten in Cape Town by South Africa in November, Benjamin Laku and Ebon Malish, who scored twice against Congo the same month, drop out.

Suarez fills Messi void as Inter Miami beat Tigres 2-1 - World
Luis Suarez scored a penalty in each half to give Inter Miami a 2-1 victory over Tigres UANL on Wednesday, stepping up to fill the void after Lionel Messi was ruled out of the Leagues Cup quarter-final clash. Messi, who has battled a "minor" muscle injury since a Leagues Cup group match on August 2, returned Saturday after a two-week absence, scoring a goal after coming on as a substitute in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy. However, the 38-year-old World Cup winner was ruled out against Tigres as Inter advanced in the cross-border club competition for teams from Major League Soccer and Mexico's Liga-MX. "We rely on how Leo feels and it wasn't the best," Inter assistant coach Javier Morales said. "We preferred not to take risks, not to go backward in his recovery." In a duel that produced few scoring chances, veteran Uruguay striker Suarez was the difference as Inter kept alive their hopes of regaining the title they won in 2023, during Messi's first season in MLS. Things swung Miami's way in the 20th minute when Javier Aquino slid to intercept a cross and the ball hit his left arm in the area. The referee awarded the penalty and the 38-year-old Suarez converted. Tempers flared, with Suarez moving to calm things down after Miami teammate Rodrigo De Paul and Uruguayan compatriot Fernando Gorriaran exchanged words. Inter coach Javier Mascherano was sent off at half time, receiving a red card for heated protestations to officials after injury time dragged on past what had been indicated. Mascherano watched from a front row of the stands when Tigres grabbed their equalizer in the 67th minute, Angel Correa slipping between two defenders and beating Miami keeper Oscar Ustari. Another handball by Aquino in the 87th minute, confirmed by VAR, gave Miami another penalty and Suarez converted again, this time going left as goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman dived in the opposite direction. "The game was really difficult because they played very well," Suarez said. "Every day I just try my best to help the team win." Miami booked a semi-final clash with Florida rivals Orlando City, who beat Liga MX champions Toluca FC 6-5 on penalties after the teams played to a scoreless draw in Carson, California. Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese was the hero, saving two penalties in the shootout and scoring the decisive penalty himself. Orlando beat Miami 4-1 in an MLS clash this month in which Messi was missing. In the remaining two quarter-finals on Wednesday, Los Angeles Galaxy hosted Pachuca, while the Seattle Sounders take on Puebla at home. There's more at stake than the Leagues Cup trophy. Both finalists and the third-place match winner will qualify for the CONCACAF Champions Cup, with the Leagues Cup champion securing direct entry to the Champions Cup round of 16. Roberto De Zerbi Bans Two Marseille Players From Training After Dressing-Room Bust-Up
Rana Atef Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi suspended Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe from training after a heated dressing-room clash that erupted following the club's Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, Sport Bible reported on Tuesday. Marseille fell 1-0 to Rennes on Friday night, conceding in stoppage time despite playing against ten men for over an hour. Tensions boiled over after the match, when Rabiot and Rowe exchanged insults and reportedly came to blows. According to La Provence, Rowe slapped Rabiot during the altercation, believing he had been singled out by the midfielder's comments. The ugly incident, which occurred around 11 p.m., forced teammates and staff to intervene. De Zerbi, known for his strict discipline, responded by banning both players from training. French outlet L'Equipe reports they were formally suspended on Monday and absent from Tuesday's session. Sources close to the club suggest that neither player has a future under De Zerbi, with Marseille now open to selling if suitable offers arrive. 🚨 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟: Marseille have announced they have placed both Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe on the transfer list because of their behaviour after the Rennes match. Wesley Fofana Sparks Chelsea Exit Rumours
Rana Atef Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has fueled speculation over his future after deleting all Chelsea-related content from his official Instagram account, just days after Enzo Maresca's comments about the Frenchman's role in the squad. The Blues kicked off their Premier League season with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace, where Fofana was named on the bench but did not feature. Ahead of the match, Maresca made it clear that he intends to reintegrate the 24-year-old gradually following his long injury layoff. 'Wes was on the bench but was just on the bench to be with us and the plan was for him not to get any minutes,' Maresca explained. 'Now hopefully for the next one, we can use Wes for some minutes.' Despite this reassurance, Fofana's social media activity has raised doubts about his future at Stamford Bridge. Since joining from Leicester City for £70 million in 2022, his time at Chelsea has been plagued by serious injuries, limiting him to just 34 appearances across all competitions. French outlet reports suggest Marseille have emerged as a potential destination, with discussions around an initial loan move that could include an obligation to buy. The Ligue 1 side, who secured Champions League qualification, hold personal significance for Fofana, who has previously spoken about his admiration for the club. 'Olympique Marseille... we'll see one day,' Fofana said last year. 'I still have a contract until 2029, we'll see. Marseille is my city, my club, I am an OM supporter.' With the transfer deadline approaching, Fofana's drastic Instagram move has cast fresh uncertainty over whether his Chelsea chapter is nearing an early end. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
