NEW DELHI: BJP launched a
digital offensive against Pakistan
on Friday, mocking its failed military retaliation after
Operation Sindoor
and exposing Islamabad's use of fake news to project false victories.
In a symbolic jab, BJP shared a 31-second clip from the tied India-Pakistan match during the 2007 T20 World Cup, where India clinched a 3-0 bowl-out win. Indian bowlers Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Robin Uthappa hit the stumps with precision while Pakistan's Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi failed completely. 'Kuch aisa tha. 'Pakistan's propaganda is quickly falling apart, exposing a web of lies and desperation,' BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said. 'In a blatant attempt to save face, deputy PM Ishaq Dar misled the country's Senate. The claim was so outrageous that even Dawn, Pakistan's leading newspaper, felt compelled to fact-check and debunk it,' he added.

'Danger of critical minerals': Commerce minister Piyush Goyal in Italy; calls for diversification of mineral supply chains
Commerce and industry minister urged the global community to diversify supply chains for critical minerals, warning that heavy reliance on a handful of countries poses a serious risk to economic stability and long-term growth. "I think it is important that the world recognises the danger of critical minerals, and supply and processing being concentrated only in particular geographies, which at any point in time can hurt economic development," he said after meetings with several Italian firms involved in the critical minerals sector. Critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, and rare earth elements are vital to modern energy technologies, powering everything from electric vehicles to wind turbines. However, the supply of these materials is heavily dominated by China, which has acquired substantial reserves and processing capacity across the globe, raising concerns about strategic vulnerabilities. In response to these vulnerabilities, Goyal outlined India's strategy to build resilience into its own supply chain. He said that the government is promoting innovation and supporting startups to develop alternative methods for processing and using critical minerals. "This will help reduce our over-dependence and over-reliance on certain critical minerals," he explained, underlining the role of research and development in securing a more self-reliant future. However, he admitted India's efforts are still evolving. "We are still at a stage of firming up how it will pan out, what will be the route it will take and which are the countries which will support it - financially and through right of way," Goyal said. Our doors are open for Badgujar: Bawankule
Nashik: Despite significant internal opposition, including from Nashik West MLA Seema Hiray and other BJP functionaries, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has indicated that the door remains open for Sudhakar Badgujar — the recently expelled Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader — to join the saffron party. However, Bawankule, speaking in Nashik at a workshop for over 550 party office-bearers from the Nashik division, asserted that an individual is not a criminal until proven so in a court of law. When asked about Badgujar potentially joining the party, Bawankule said, "The doors are open to all those who want to join the party." He acknowledged the existing "bitterness, misgivings, and misunderstandings" between Badgujar and current BJP leaders, citing their past electoral contest in the assembly elections. Bawankule added that he and Girish Mahajan were "looking into the matter". He emphasized that no deadline had been set for a decision on Badgujar's inclusion. "It will take time. After all, the party is striving for the development of society and the country, and we want to increase the party bases. We will decide appropriately and accordingly if anybody wants to join us without any conditions," Bawankule said. In response to the question that party functionaries felt accepting Badgujar into the party fold would malign the party image, Bawankule said, "Making allegations against a person is one thing, and conviction by the court is another. I personally believe that no one should judge any person based on allegations." Regarding the Thackeray brothers coming together, Bawankule said the party has nothing to do with their decision, especially when the Mahayuti is stronger than ever.
