‘Religious revival due to Ahilyabai'
Lucknow: BJP's national general secretary (oranisation) BL Santhosh on Thursday said Ahilyabai Holkar's contributions to the revival of India's religious and cultural heritage are monumental. "The very existence of the grand temple in Kashi, especially in their current form, is largely due to her efforts. Had it not been for Ahilyabai Holkar, we might not have witnessed this architectural and spiritual grandeur in Kashi," Santhosh said. He was addressing the 'Punyashloka Pujya Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Janm Trishatabdi Varsh Smriti Abhiyan-2025', held at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Law University on Thursday. He lamented that mainstream education has long overlooked such towering figures. "It is unfortunate that we were not taught about Ahilyabai Holkar in schools and colleges. For years, leaders like Shivaji, Maharana Pratap, and Ahilyabai were excluded from our academic curriculum. Yet, 300 years ago—long before the term 'women empowerment' gained popularity—Ahilyabai had already set a remarkable example," he said. He further said Holkar was truly invincible — she never lost a single battle.

CM: Life & contributions of Ahilyabai Holkar inspire all
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday described the life and contributions of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar as a "timeless source of inspiration" for Indian society. Yogi was speaking after inaugurating an exhibition at GPO Park organised under 'Punyashlok' Pujya Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Tricentenary Year Memorial Campaign-2025. The CM said the exhibition will educate the people about Lokmata's contributions while providing an opportunity to draw inspiration from her exemplary work in promoting social harmony, national unity and public welfare. "The past is not merely meant to be read about but to be reflected upon and learn from it. It is our responsibility to correct historical missteps and embrace the glorious chapters of our history as ideals," he said. Yogi noted that this exhibition offers a valuable opportunity for introspection. "Devi Ahilyabai Holkar's nationwide vision established her as a remarkable symbol of good governance, security and public order," he said. The Chief Minister said: "While we may not have witnessed Lokmata Ahilyabai's era firsthand, over the past 11 years we have seen a living reflection of her ideals in the governance model of Prime Minister Modi. From Kashi Vishwanath Dham to Kedarnath, from Muktinath in Nepal to Somnath, and from Mahakal to Rameswaram — efforts to reconnect with India's spiritual and cultural heritage are evident under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. " He also expressed satisfaction that consistent efforts are being made to bring the life and legacy of the nation's great personalities closer to the masses. "As part of this mission, Uttar Pradesh is hosting a series of events from May 21 to 31, including seminars, essay competitions, exhibitions, drama series and folk music programmes, under the 'Punyashlok' Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Janm Trishatabdi Varsh Smriti Abhiyan," he said. Highlighting country's progress, the CM said today's India is not only a nation of ideas but also a vibrant example of infrastructure-led development. "With the expansion of highways, expressways, rail networks, metro systems, rapid rail corridors, airways, and waterways, a new image of India is emerging. The health sector, too, has seen transformative change — while the country had only one AIIMS for decades after Independence, six more were built under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and now 23 additional AIIMS have been established under Prime Minister Modi, presenting a modern model of healthcare. " He further said the nation was steadily advancing toward the goal of 'One District, One Medical College,' while the National Education Policy is proving to be a milestone in reforming the education sector. A host of senior BJP leaders, including party national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh, UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary, UP BJP general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and jal shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh also attended the event. Maurya said this exhibition is a matter of inspiration for the youth, especially for daughters. "Along with efficient governance, Lokmata showed the revival of not one but many religious places which were destroyed by the Mughals," he said.

BJP instigating violence after Kamal Haasan's comment on Kannada: CPI(M) leader Shanmugam
KRISHNAGIRI: BJP is instigating an issue over language between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, after actor-politician Kamal Haasan made a comment on Kannada at a movie promotion, said CPI (M) state secretary P Shanmugam at Hosur on Thursday. While speaking to reporters, Shanmugam said, "Each and every one will take pride in their mother tongue and Kamal Haasan is not a linguistic expert, he shared experts' opinion that 'Kannada was born out of Tamil'. People have the rights to argue or share this view, but they should not indulge in violence. BJP is politically instigating a language issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka." Earlier, over 350 people took part in a demonstration organised by the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) in front of the Hosur sub-collector office. During the demonstration, Shanmugam said, "Implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 is poor, forest department officials are ill-treating the poor in forest and sanctuary areas. Chief Minister MK Stalin should convene a meeting with the forest officials on the implementation of forest rights and advise officials to avoid excessive measures against public." He further said there are over 2,000 acres of land in Chennasandiram panchayat in Hosur taluk being cultivated by farmers for decades and patta should be provided to them. Similarly, people without houses in Krishnagiri district should be allocated with land for house construction. The state secretary added, "Effluent water in South Pennai River from Karnataka entering Hosur in Krishnagiri district is polluting farmlands, which should be prevented by holding dialogues between the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka chief ministers. Similarly, effluents released into South Pennai from Krishnagiri should also be prevented." Shanmugam submitted a petition with a charter of demands to Hosur Sub-Collector RA Priyanga, who assured that all issues will be inquired into in a phased manner and steps are being taken to provide patta to the poor and land less. Issues regarding the forest department will be informed to Collector C Dinesh Kumar, Priyanga said. AIKS Krishnagiri district secretary C Prakash also participated in the demonstration.

‘No noise, no PR': Congress claims 6 surgical strikes in UPA era. BJP hits back - ‘must stop lying'
The Congress party has reiterated its claim that six such military operations were carried out across the border during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, responded quickly accusing the Congress party of 'lying.' The Congres-vs-BJP on social media comes amid tensions between the grand-old party and its leader Shashi Tharoor over India's surgical strikes before and after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the centre. Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation to foreign countries post Operation Sindoor, has invited criticism over his statement that India conducted its first surgical strike in response to a terror attack in 2016. Sharing a video on X, the Congress party wrote, 'No Noise. No PR. Only Decisive Actions. 6 Surgical Strikes were carried out under Congress Govt.' The BJP responded to Congress claims and accused the party of lying. 'Congress is corrupt, even when it comes to numbers related to national security. However, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐔𝐏𝐀 𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐆𝐌𝐎 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐓𝐈 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖. Darpok Congress must STOP LYING,' the BJP said in a post sharing a 2018 story from HT – 'UPA did 3 surgical strikes.' In December 2018, the then Congress president Rahul Gandhi had asserted that the Indian Army conducted three surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) when the UPA government was in power. On May 29, senior Congress leader and party general secretary Randeep Surjewala, though, backed the 'seasoned and experienced' Tharoor, he also insisted that the leader was wrong about the surgical strikes. "Congress party only corrected (him) by pointing out that surgical strikes against Pakistan and other dens of terrorists were a regular feature even during the UPA term – to give a befitting reply to terrorists by our armed forces and the Congress governments," Surjewala said. Instances of surgical strikes during the Congress-led UPA government have been detailed in the past by the AICC Communication department and by Tharoor himself in his 2018 book "The Paradoxical Prime Minister", the Surjewala said. "Even former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the past spoke about these surgical strikes. Mr Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera have set the record straight. It should not be matter of any acrimony or doubt," Surjewala said. Tharoor has come under stringent criticism by several Congress leaders, including media and publicity department head Pawan Khera and party leader Udit Raj, for not mentioning surgical strikes against Pakistan during the UPA government in his presentations abroad. Udit Raj said he should be made a "super spokesperson of the BJP". The Congress' digs continued on Thursday with Raj saying what the Kerala MP had said was a "lie and a conspiracy to destroy the Congress". Congress is corrupt, even when it comes to numbers related to national security. Tharoor, who is heading a multi-party delegation to five countries, including Panama and the US, had a ready riposte for the jibes by some of his party colleagues. For 'zealots' fulminating about his supposed ignorance of Indian valour across the LoC, he was "clearly and explicitly" speaking only about reprisals for terrorist attacks and not about previous wars, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said in a post on X from Panama City on Thursday morning. Critics and trolls were welcome to distort his views and words as they see fit but he genuinely has "better things to do", he said.
