There's something strange going on with Google Pixel phone vibrations after the latest update

Google Pixel phones are apparently kicking out some strange vibrations after the recent March update.
Over on the Google Pixel subreddit multiple Pixel users reporting that after they install the update the haptic vibrations their Pixel phones are serving up feel different than before.
Some notice this when typing on the Pixel virtual keyboard, while others claim that all vibrations feel different.
One poster going by the handle of Krysnosis noted: "On typing I don't feel it, but the back gesture I immediately felt the hollow feeling. It has less thunk and doesn't feel as clean. Now, it has a lingering light vibration. Before, it just ended cleanly."
It's hard to narrow down whether these changes are affecting particular Pixel models, or most Pixel phones that qualify for the update.
But the general vibe of the Reddit thread is that the change in vibrations feel less direct and robust, something that wasn't met with approval from those affected.
There's no mention of any changes to haptics or the intensity of the vibrations in Google's changelog for the March 2025 update, so this would appear to be a bug.
I'm in the process of downloading an update for my Google Pixel 9 Pro, which is taking some time due to my slow internet, so I'm afraid I can't bring you any insight from my side just yet.
The folks at 9to5Google say they haven't noticed any vibration changes on their Pixel 9 models; however, The Verge reported detecting vibration changes in the Google Pixel 8 phones, while Reddit users noted that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have been affected.

Samsung Warns All Galaxy Users—Restart Your Phone
Restart your phone today. Android is under attack. Google warning that new vulnerabilities 'may be under limited, targeted exploitation' have become alarmingly frequent, as the Android-maker and its OEMs issue critical updates. Meanwhile, smartphone users are advised to watch for signs that their own phones may have been compromised. Separately, restarting phones made headlines over the last 12-months, as first iPhone and then Android introduced an auto-restart after three days of inactivity, making it more difficult for law enforcement or others to plug in cables to extract user data. While some years ago, America's NSA told users to 'turn devices off and on weekly,' that's not a habit that has caught on. Most users leave them on until forced to reboot. But Samsung actually warns its Galaxy users to do the same — and even more frequently. 'Make restarting your Galaxy phone a daily habit,' it says. Automating restarts 'Periodic restarting can prevent problems with your Galaxy phone,' Samsung says, including 'your phone suddenly freezing or [becoming] too slow,' two signs that could — maybe — be the sign of a security issue, albeit will more likely be performance related. 'The issue can sometimes be resolved just by restarting the phone.' Maybe this advice will now catch on, given the raft of new attacks driven primarily by the forensic industry finding more ways to compromise device security. 'Rebooting your phone daily is your best defense against zero-click attacks,' ZDNet now reports. That advice came courtesy of iVerify's Ricky Cole, whose company warned last week that iPhones had likely been attacked through an iMessage vulnerability that has since been patched. Apple says attacks did not take place, but the high-profile victims suggested by iVerify ensured a flurry of headlines followed. There are several ways to restart your Galaxy phone, but the easiest is to automate it. You can set your phone to 'auto-optimize daily' or to restart on a schedule. As long as the phone is not being used and has plenty of battery, it will reboot.

Pixel VIPs app makes an early appearance on the Play Store

The app reveals more details about the upcoming Pixel VIPs home screen widget. Unfortunately, you can't access the actual Pixel VIPs widget after downloading this app. We uncovered the existence of a Pixel VIPs widget back in January. This widget centralizes all sorts of info from your preferred contacts in a home screen widget. Now, it looks like the feature is available to Pixel phone owners — well, sort of. The Pixel VIPs app listing is showing up on the Google Play Store for some Pixel owners, and we're able to see this on our own Pixel phones as well. Users can also tap the 'update' button and install it. Check out the screenshots below. 'Quickly and easily connect with the people who matter most to you. See your last call and message with them, their real-time location, activity suggestions, and more,' reads an excerpt of the app listing. 'Your VIPs can also bypass Do Not Disturb, so you never miss a moment.' We also previously uncovered evidence that the feature supports up to eight contacts, birthday reminders, and notes functionality for a contact. Furthermore, we discovered that WhatsApp integration was also in the works. So this certainly seems like a robust widget and feature. Unfortunately, updating the app doesn't actually enable the Pixel VIPs widget right now. So we'll likely have to wait for an additional update or server-side change to access the feature.
