At official introduction, Bruins coach Marco Sturm talks about what GM Don Sweeney called ‘renewing our identity'
This is Sturm's first NHL head coaching job after three seasons guiding the Ontario Reign, the Kings' AHL affiliate.

'When I saw Don Sweeney's name on my text, it was pretty special. It got me really, really excited,' said Sturm. 'And of course I want to be an NHL coach, but this means more. And why? I think there's a few reasons. I think the identity, and Don was talking about the culture we built here 20 years ago. It's still here. The style and all the winning mind-set we had, I think that's something that just gets me really excited and that's what I believe in.'

Sturm played five seasons in Boston after arriving from San Jose as part of the Joe Thornton trade in 2005.
'I mean, it was not my fault, right?' Sturm said with a laugh of the swap that ended with Thornton winning the Hart Trophy (MVP) and Art Ross Trophy (top scorer) that season.

'But I got here, and it was difficult, I'm not going to lie. It was difficult because everyone loved Joe and it was a big trade, but I understood really quickly why it happened,' said Sturm. 'And also, we had guys in the locker room, they wanted them to lead. So, I saw that in Year 2, it was a little painful. It was not easy. I mean, as soon as you read the paper or social media or even you go on the street, people will let you know, but also it pushes you. And that's what I saw it the positive way.'

Last season, before the trade deadline, the San Antonio Spurs added All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings, hoping that he would be the long-term running mate for Victor Wembanyama. A few weeks later, Fox had his season ended as well, undergoing surgery on his pinkie finger. In 17 games with the Spurs, Fox averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists, clearly needing to get used to his new team. He expects to use the offseason to settle into his role with his new teammates and is already playing five-on-five and has been cleared for contact. 'I'm doing well. The surgery went fine,' Fox told The Houston Chronicle. 'I've been cleared, so I played a little five-on-five, and I've done contact stuff, so I'll be ready for next year.' The Spurs gave up Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Sidy Cissoko, and four first-round draft picks to the Kings and Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal to land Fox, although several of those picks had protections on them, and one of them ended up not conveying to the Kings. Advertisement Before the trade, Fox asked the Kings to get a deal done and listed the Spurs as the only acceptable landing spot. With Wembanyama in town, San Antonio has become a premier destination, and Fox got in on the ground floor, expecting the team to find massive success in the next few years. Forsyth County leaders approve $225 million development in hopes of attracting the NHL
Forsyth County leaders voted unanimously to approve a major development, all in hopes of bringing a pro hockey team to north Georgia. This was the final vote on the $225 million project and a critical step in efforts to attract a hockey team. Members of all three boards met, and all voted unanimously to approve the final, official documents for the project. It's a milestone. 'Without this vote, we could not go to the NHL. This was a prerequisite,' Krouse told Channel 2's Bryan Mims. It's named 'The Gathering at South Forsyth' and would be located along Georgia 400 between Alpharetta and Cumming. The National Hockey League has not said it plans to expand and bring a franchise to the Atlanta market. However, Krause says the demand is here and his development can accommodate a team. 'A lot of people in this state believe we should have a hockey team. I believe we're gonna have one,' Krause said. Forsyth County commissioners agreed to provide $225 million in bond financing, but only if The Gathering lands a pro hockey team. With county officials approving these final, critical documents, Krause plans to meet with the NHL commissioner after the Stanley Cup playoffs. Krause says he talked with Commissioner Gary Bettman this week. He says if this final approval from the county came today, Bettman would meet with him after the NHL finals. Krause says he expects a decision from the NHL about expansion at the latest by the end of this year.
