When the Philadelphia Eagles were recently invited to the White House to celebrate their winning season, not all players showed up. Altogether, more than a dozen players missed the celebration including star wide receiver A.J.
Brown. Brown spoke to the media on Tuesday and explained why he did not join the team. Brown told Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer that his absence was not political. "I had a personal thing that I had to take care of that day," Brown explained.
AJ Brown admits he had personal reasons for not attending an event
Brown insisted that he was not there to make a point or pass some sort of message. "It wasn't political," he told the press. He never disclosed what the "personal thing" was, but stated that it mattered to him.
Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie also commented on the visit previously. He said that attending the White House event was completely up to players.
'I had a personal reason I was dealing with that day. It wasn't about politics or who is in office or anything. I just had something personal going on with my family',
he said, and most in the league agree. Players receive invitations but are never required to go.
That policy permitted players to decide what was in their own best interests.

And a considerable number of Eagles players Brown included steered clear of it. There may have been prior engagements, and there may have been a wish to avoid the spotlight.
AJ Brown and other players have many reasons for skipping White House visits
Avoiding a White House visit is not new in the NFL. Players on numerous teams in the past have also avoided it for personal, political, or even private reasons. Some have been quiet about it, and some have been open about it in interviews or on social media, explaining their reasons.
In his case, A.J. Brown did not denounce the visit or the visitors. He simply didn't show up and made sure everybody knew it was his decision. No hard feelings, no theatrics. And that's just fine. NFL players, like everyone else, don't owe anyone an explanation of their personal decisions if they don't feel like doing so.
The Eagles will be a perennial contender next year, and everyone anticipates they'll be one of the top teams once again. Most people believe they have a good shot at getting to the Super Bowl. If they make a push for it next year, there's a safe bet that they'll be back in the White House once again.

Rahul Gandhi cites fall in vehicle, mobile sales to criticise govt's ‘event-driven' politics
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday cited the drop in the sales of two-wheelers and cars as well as the fall in the mobile market to attack the government and said the country needs politics that is not about the glitz of events but connected with the reality of everyday life. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that the country needs an economy that works for every Indian, not just for a select few capitalists. "The statistics tell the truth. In the last year, two-wheeler sales have fallen by 17 per cent and car sales by 8.6 per cent. The mobile market has fallen by 7 per cent. On the other hand, both expenses and debt are constantly increasing: house rent, domestic inflation, education expenses, almost everything is becoming expensive," Gandhi said in his post in Hindi on X. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo — RahulGandhi (@RahulGandhi) These are not just figures, but the reality of the economic pressure under which every common Indian is suffering, he said. We need an economy that works for every Indian, not just for a select few capitalists," Gandhi said. The Congress has been attacking the government over its handling of the economy, alleging that issues like rising prices , decreasing private investment, and stagnating wages are hurting common people.

Australia says China anxiety, geography driving closer Indonesia ties
Australian defence minister Richard Marles (right) with his Indonesian counterpart Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (left) during their meeting in Jakarta (Image credit: AP) Australian defence minister Richard Marles said Thursday that security anxiety over China was partly driving deepening ties with Indonesia in a region riven by rivalry between Beijing and Washington. His visit to meet counterpart Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin in Jakarta came weeks after Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese made Indonesia his first foreign trip following his landslide election win. Marles said the alliance with Indonesia stood on its own terms, but concerns about China's military build-up in the region influenced Australia's foreign policy thinking. "We've made no secret of the fact that we have a security anxiety in relation to China. We've made that clear to China itself," Marles, who also serves as deputy prime minister, told journalists in the Indonesian capital. "It does shape how we think about the strategic landscape that we face." He said geography was also a key part of closer relations with President Prabowo Subianto's government, with whom they signed a defence pact last year. "You just need to look at the map to understand how strategically important Indonesia is to Australia. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dermatologista recomenda: simples truque elimina o fungo facilmente Acabe com o Fungo Undo Its geography is profoundly important," he said. "That's actually what's driving the increase in the activity between Australia and Indonesia." Marles and Sjafrie discussed greater cooperation "in relation to maritime domain awareness", which would see their militaries share more information about the waters they share, the Australian minister said. "The relationship between Australia and Indonesia has never been in better shape," he said. The bilateral defence pact pledged closer cooperation in the contested Asia-Pacific region and included provisions for each military operating in the other country. Months after the accord was signed, thousands of Indonesian and Australian troops held joint drills in eastern Java in November. Canberra has drawn ever nearer to longtime ally Washington, bolstering its military in an attempt to deter the might of a rising China. Jakarta has meanwhile walked a more neutral path, wary of drawing too close to Washington and far less willing to needle Beijing.

'A particularly special feeling': Andy Flower hails Virat Kohli, RCB after historic title win Ponting related Kohli's reaction to his deep-rooted love for the game and particularly for Test cricket.
