Liam Rosenior says he would like to work with Djordje Petrovic next season
Speaking in an interview with local Strasbourg media Alsa' Sports, Racing Club de Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior says he would like to keep Chelsea loanee goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic at the club next season.
'The more I see him here, the more he smiles, and the happier he is. It's to his credit. He has a beautiful young family who has settled in the area, and he's going to have a remarkable career,' said Rosenior on the 25-year-old Serbian goalkeeper.
'I love working with him and hopefully somehow we can still collaborate in the future. Whether it's here or elsewhere in five years, I'd like it to be next season.'
Petrovic has excelled since joining the Alsatians on loan from fellow BlueCo-owned club Chelsea last summer. It had been thought that the Serbian would return to his parent club at the end of the season, however, that may not necessarily happen.
BBC Sport reported last month that Petrovic was set to return to Chelsea this summer. Upon his return to Stamford Bridge, he was expected to compete for the No.1 jersey along with Robert Sanchez and Fili Jorgensen. Despite the goalkeeper area being a problem for Chelsea this season, the Premier League side are not expected to recruit another shot-stopper this summer.
However, Petrovic may not be the solution after all. The Serbain says that he is more than open to staying in Alsace next season. 'I am focused on finishing the season in the best way. We'll see after what could happen this summer. It could be a very good option to stay here if Strasbourg qualify for the UEFA Champions League,' he said in a press conference in March.

How Chelsea could line-up next season
Chelsea have secured a return to Champions League football after finishing the 2024/25 campaign in fourth, and the club have already identified key areas in which they need to improve. No team in the top five scored less than Chelsea's 64 goals with attack a position in which they need to bolster. They've already confirmed the arrival of Liam Delap from relegated Ipswich Town for a £30m fee, but club officials are working on further deals. As reported via our colleagues at Get German Football News, talks between Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt for the transfer of French attacker Hugo Ekitike have taken place. The Frenchman has been a revelation in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 33 league games last season as Frankfurt – who want a package of around €100m for the striker – secured Champions League football. Advertisement But it's another Bundesliga talent in which Chelsea have their eye on. Enzo Maresca's side have submitted a €35m offer to Borussia Dortmund for English winger Jamie Gittens, but the Bundesliga side are holding out for a fee closer to €50m. The Athletic report that Chelsea have already agreed terms with Gittens, who – despite being raw – would improve the team's wide areas with Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United.
